Looking for lunch while we explored the river, we found this small but stylish bakery right in town. Nice selection of baked goods attractively presented. We enjoyed quiche, scones, pumpkin bread and herbal tea, all very good plus interesting chat with server. If you’re in Alton, this is a good choice.

Yeah… It’s awesome. Got an Ugly Gooey Butter Cake(Their name not mine), Brookie and an apple crumble thingy of some sort. Insanely tasty. The place is small and I hope they keep it that way! Go there! Do it! now! go!.. why haven’t you gone yet?!

One word: DARLING Oh. My. Goodness. My best friend and I are obsessed. It is so effing cute in there. The coffee and sweets are delish– I just got the drip coffee when I stopped in but I tried the Gooey Butter Cake and it was really good! The girls that work there are adorable. It’s the perfect size. Even the little box with the ribbon that holds a treat is so perfect. I love it and go anytime I am in Alton and the sun is up

While this bakery was very cute, and I’m sure the pastries and treats are delicious, the coffee drinks need some serious work. I ordered a frozen mocha, which had a very strange taste and I believe they used powdered chocolate or something because of the weird texture. I also ordered some flavored iced lattes, which did not turn out as I hoped. Instead of using espresso, which is what lattes are made with, the girl used regular hot coffee and then added milk and syrup and added ice. This is not what I wanted and not what I ordered. I think this place has a lot of potential, but the workers definitely need some training on how to make proper coffee drinks.

Such great prices for such yummy baked goods! Much rather support a local business than a chain. Coffee is a bit on the weak side for me. But I like mine strong. Great service! They have done such a great job of making a tiny space feel welcome and homey.

Today was the second time I had the privilege of trying this bakery’s treats. The first time I sampled the raspberry scone, blueberry muffin, berry coffee cake, gooey butter cake, and pecan roll. All were fresh and delicious. Today, I actually visited this tiny little wonder in downtown Alton. Only a few customers would fit into the store at once, but wow. Complete with chandelier and make your own coffee bar, it is beautiful. The small baggies of treats on the shelves were irresistible and the service was very friendly. Today I chose the white chocolate covered pretzels with lucky charms marshmallows mixed in, marshmallows, gooey butter cake, a brownie with a chocolate chip cookie inside, and a spinach quiche. My favorite choice today was the marshmallow. I can not describe it’s fluffy sweet taste, somewhere between meringue and heaven. Now if you’ll excuse me, I must go and hide them from my children! And PS Spoon, I wish there was more delicious crust in the quiche. I would purchase a larger one if available.

This morning I needed a breakfast treat and of course coffee. Spoon Baking Co opened about three months ago. No, this place can not host a crowd. There was a lady at the counter when I walked in and we were both dancing around for a spot to stand while we waited. Do not let that deter you from stopping in for a treat. The counter is full of delightful looking treats raspberry scones, cinnamon rolls the size of Princess Leah hair bun, cookies and my treat mini gooey butter cake. They have two different coffee to go, its what they call their coffee of the days. I had the Hazelnut blend and the other was labeled Kona. They do not have almond milk, only half and half, that is what the owner told me. Hmmm ladies you need to get some soy and almond milk options. The packaging was beautiful and it got the attention of my coworkers. I felt guilty eating the whole mini gooey butter cake, I divided it between two of my coworkers. It has just the right amount for gooeyiness(if that is a word) butter and not to over powering with the powdered sugar. If I can add a con, this place is REALLLLLYYY small. Not more than three people could be at the counter to order. But if you want to be a hit with your coworkers or give someone in your life a little bakery treat this is the place. Bonus it is a little family owned place, which always make me want to support.

If you’re a fan of small local bakeries then this is a must! Everything is handmade with love and made to perfection. When you walk in its quarters may be extremely small, like literally will only fit 3 people at a time, but you don’t even think about that because you become so distracted with it’s overwhelming cuteness. It’s white and tiffany blue them is adorable and so modern! It draws you in starting from the street with their bright blue door. It has a large window seat for you to sit and enjoy your delectable pastries and coffee. Why wouldn’t you want to sit and enjoy? It feels like you’re sitting at a café in Boston watching all the people hustle on by. On top of it, this company is owned by a family that has poured their heart and soul into it. I was actually helped by their daughter that couldn’t of been more than 10 years old. So CUTE! This reason alone should tell you to come and support them! You won’t be disappointed, I promise.
