My wife and I were visiting our daughter in Brooklyn and planned a weekend on the river We stayed at the Altmar I had no idea that I would be greeted as a regular on my first visit I felt like I was in the midwest, who knew? It is the perfect blend of local and clean and friendly, I abhor corporate concept places. This is the place that you hope for stumbling across when on the road. A keeper for sure even though I only catch and release the fish.

Local flare and very casual ambiance. This is a small bar/restaurant with food made to please. The prime rib on the weekends is wonderful and the serving sizes are huge!

One of the best Dive-Bars in the North Country… Atmosphere is friendly, but with a bit of a biker flair, Gritty ambiance, but do not let that scare you away. This is really a great place, and comfortable for bringing the family.
But to focus on the important things… The Wings at the Altmar are out of this world! They have several home grown wing recipes that are totally killer. Try their wing sauce called «The Junk», Awesome! The rest of the Menu is mostly typical bar food, but their portions are large and the food quality is excellent.
Staff is very cool, they also have a dart board and pool table which make for a nice family outing.
