Excellent food. I had the shrimp and grits. Yum. Delightful décor. Server a bit slow but nice. Hope to go back some day.

Have ate here a few times, I had the eggplant casserole and it was great. We waited about 30 min to be seated, not too bad. Waitress was good and kept our waters filled. Fun décor

Joined a friend for dinner tonight and started at the bar with some sweet tea and fried pickles and remoulade sauce. Child, please. So tasty! Quick, friendly service and an easy transition to our table. Followed up with the Cajun shrimp in a butter sauce over linguine. Our waitress, Crystal, made the recommendation and she was right on. Finished the meal with beignets and café au lait. So good — not what you get at Café du Monde in the French Quarter but still delicious. Great, fun atmosphere with plenty of families and friends around. Treat yourself to Tibby’s and let the good times roll, chere!

Always anxious to try something that isn’t a chain restaurant in Florida. Tibby’s has two restaurants about 8 miles from each other in central Florida. We visited the one in Altamonte Springs. Tibby’s is Cajun food, pure and simple. The location is in a strip mall and is deceiving from the outside. You are greeted at the door and are immediately taken back by the colorful interior. Most of the painting and art work was done by a local artist. Our bartender, Daniel, was very helpful in explaining items on the menu. We went during happy hour, which is 4−6pm when drinks are discounted or offered at 2 for 1. All appetizers in the bar area are also half price during this time. We tried the chicken wings and the andouille sausage stuffed potato skins. Both of which were awesome. Portions are decent and the food was served hot. For dinner we chose the blackened chicken with pasta. Not so great :(the chicken was very good, however the sauce they put on the pasta was greasy and really didn’t set well in my stomach. For dessert we had bignettes, supposedly a New Orleans style donut. Well that tasted like fried dough to me, don’t get me wrong, it was good, but not great. We will return and try something different for dinner. The restaurant was clean, the rest rooms were clean and the staff were super friendly. Definitely worth another visit.

Stopped in for lunch last Saturday while furniture shopping in Altamonte. I appreciate real cajun/creole cuisine as I used to make frequent visits to NOLA and Lafeyette, LA. I was in the mood for a nice oyster po’boy. The hostess and wait staff were excellent. Service was prompt and friendly. Our server«Chandler» was efficient and nice. That’s where the thrill ended. The so called oysters, at least what I could detect of them were overwhelmed in a mess of shredded lettuce, tomatoes and pickles surrounded in a sea of mayonaise and remolaude sauce and enshrined in a stale french loaf. There was so much mayo on this disaster that when I bit into it the mayo squirted out from all sides. It tasted like a pickle sandwhich. The oysters were miniscule and had no discernable flavor. The bread cracked and started falling apart as soon as I bit into it. I should have sent it back but I did not have time to wait for a re-do. I may return to try an actual entrée before scratching this place off my list. In the meantime I’ll stick with«The Big Easy» in Winter Garden for the real thing.

Very disappointed. I thought this would be one of our go-to spots but after tonight I doubt we would return to Tibbys. It was a bad experience that that I paid too much for. The menu is limited and they tend to over salt. I think the place is over hyped. It does have good ambience and the drinks aren’t bad but beyond that everting else seems to sit on the fence of just ok. The Shrimp and Andouille Cheddar Grits — The shrimp was not de-veined and there was about a half a teaspoon of Andouille in the entire dish. Our table also had the 12 napkin roast beef. I recommended it because the first time I had it, it was good; not greasy, the bread was light even though it was flash fried and it seemed like the entire sandwich was flash fried. This time it was so greasy we couldn’t even eat it — it was disgusting and nothing like the first time. It seemed like the bread was already flashed once and sat around for a bit and then they put it in the fryer again. Really bad, heavy with grease and nothing like the first time. We sent it back and that person just didn’t eat. The Rita’s Chicken is usually a good choice but this time it was just ok. It was over cooked a bit so panko crust was burnt and the chicken was a little dry. I had enough but there was still a good amount left. I didn’t want to waste my money or food so I planned on taking it home but the server came and took my plate with out asking if I wanted a box — so that was my meal and money wasted. Not sure if they just fell apart tonight but they lost a few customers. Left disappointed, hungry and lighter in the wallet.

This place made me feel like I was in the French Quarters in New Orleans. I loved every aspect of the restaurant. All of the pictures and decorations on the wall were awesome. Only wish I could have been there during the live bands. The food was delicious too. Oh and I loved the hours of operation! ;-) #WhoDat

The positive: Cajun food is awesome and this is really the only restaurant of its kind that I know of in the area. And Cajun food is delicious. Also, the beignets are great, and it’s a fun place to drink. They have good specials and the environment is fun and colorful. The not-so-amazing: I don’t think this food is that amazing. It’s not going to live up to the real thing, by any means. But it is good enough if you are craving dirty beans and rice or gumbo and can’t get it elsewhere. TIPS: Make sure to add plenty of hot sauce(I don’t find their food to be too spicy) for an authentic experience and DON’T go here looking for healthy fare.

About as authentic New Orleans style food your going to get in Central Florida. A bit pricey but very delicious. Great atmosphere and setting. Need to remind myself to go there for Mardi Gras and enjoy a Hurricane!

Heard many good things about this place and finally got a group together and came in to give it a try. We were in no way disappointed! I had the Shrimp and Cheddar Grits and it was AMAZING. The rest of my party loved what they ordered too. The service was great, drinks were great, and the atmosphere was fun. All in all, a great little find. I’m already counting down till the next time we can make the trip to come here to Tibbys.

I just went in by accident, and I didn’t know what to expect. I was surprised, but I fell in love with this restaurant. I loved the food! It is flavorful with a nice presentation. Our server was the best! The atmosphere is really cool, and at least once a month a band from New Orleans comes to play. I enjoyed Tibby’s so much, I bought a gift card for one of my friends.

See bottom of this post, for my follow up review of Tibby’s… the next day! This is only the second time I have ever felt compelled to write a review for a restaurant. My travels take me across the country and result in my visiting restaurants of all types. Some are a disappointment, some are good, and some are in a class of their own. Tibby’s New Orleans Kitchen is a real find and falls into this latter category. I was born in New Orleans and live in Texas, so I’ve had many wonderful meals of the region. Tonight, I enjoyed shrimp and grits, replete with andouille sausage, and found it to be positively the best I have ever had. For dessert, I had a small order of beignets and café au lait. It is rare that I go to a restaurant where every facet of the meal is superb. Tibby’s hit it on all cylinders, with a delightful waitstaff, a wonderful meal, and a fun atmosphere, reminiscent of my days in the French Quarter. I give it my highest recommendation. Try it — and don’t miss the shrimp and grits. You will not be disappointed! REVIEWOFMYSECONDTRIPTOTIBBY’S: After eating at Tibby’s last night, I mentioned the wonderful dinner that I had to the people at the front desk of the Hilton Hotel, in which I have been staying for the past few days. They knew all about Tibby’s and had nothing but good things to say about it. My business here is finished, for now, and I’m going back home to Texas, tomorrow morning. My company is paying for my meals, as I am traveling on business, and I could have easily selected a different venue, tonight. As a matter of fact, I can’t remember the last time I ate at a restaurant two nights in a row. Before going back to the hotel, I headed back over to Tibby’s, determined to see if other items on their menu compared to that wonderful shrimp and grits masterpiece that I had last night. To be certain, I had considered ordering the shrimp and grits again! This would have left me wondering, however, if other items on the menu were comparable in taste and quality. I asked for a suggestion from Sarah, the delightful young lady that waited on me. She had several personal favorites, from which I chose the«Who Dat» chicken, which turned out to be a beautifully presented entrée of nicely blackened chicken served on top of some amazing boudin grit cakes, smothered in a tasty, creamy sauce. There were no beignets for me today, as I am still«stuffed» from last night’s meal at Tibby’s, but I couldn’t leave without another perfectly prepared café au lait. In summation, I am delighted to report that Tibby’s is two for two! If I could select only one thing from the menu, it would still be the shrimp and grits… I admit it, I’m hooked! They really are that amazing. And any rate, I rather doubt that anything on the menu is not top shelf in this delightful restaurant. Now, if I could just convince the owner to open a restaurant in Houston!

One of the best deals in the area. The food was great and huge portions. The wait staff was great felt like I stepped into NOLA for dinner. Thanks everyone for a great experience!!!

I am no expert on New Orleans cuisine since I have never been there and have nothing to compare to however, I enjoyed our recent meal at Tibby’s so much that it was five star worthy in my opinion! First of all, the outside appearance does no justice for what is waiting inside. You will approach a strip mall type entrance that makes the restaurant appear to be very small but it is not. There is a nice size bar, high top bar tables, and a very large spread out dining area with many low tables. The décor is bright, loud, unusual, and festive all rolled into one! LOVEDIT! We were quickly welcomed by a friendly greeter, and the good service continued throughut our meal with a helpful and attentive waitress. I had the jambalaya, crawfish pie, and file chicken gumbo sampler plate, and my husband ordered the«who dat» blackened chicken. All dishes were great(although the crawfish pie was more crust than filling) and I particularly enjoyed dousing my plate with Tibby’s own hot sauce. I had to buy a bottle to take home with me as well. From cocktails to beignets, we had no standout complaints and will definitely be back in the future!

A great New Orleans/cajun joint that is busy at lunch time. It is located in a strip mall and easy to find if you GPS. I had a special alligator tacos dish. The tacos were kind of small, but they were tasty and I appreciated the chance to try some gator. Also, I tried the maw’s fries. They are a bit like poutine, but with just a bit of cheddar shredded overtop instead of cheese curds. The gravy on the fries was great, and the fresh cut fries held up even after soaked in the gravy. They have really good sweet tea, too! I would like to come back to try some of the other dishes.

I like Tibby’s. I’ve been to this location twice and it is a nice change from the normal chain restaurants in Altamonte. Yes, technically Tibby’s is a chain but it is undeniably different. The restaurant is dark, loud and every space is adorned with colorful N’Awlins art. They often have live music and drink specials. You can come as a couple, with a loud group of adults, with your co-workers or your kids. It works across all levels. This last meal we were promptly seated by a disinterested hostess. Our server did a good job though, and food came out quickly and correct. We started off with the shrimp and alligator cheesecake which sounded so strange we had to try it. It is basically a log of cream cheese with alligator and shrimp bits mixed in, covered with breadcrumbs and served with thick cut garlic toast. It was rich and delicious! It was happy hour when we visited so I tried one of the $ 5 Hurricanes(normally $ 8.50). It was good but doesn’t hold a candle to the a real New Orleans hurricane. For my entrée I got the Rita’s Chicken which is an ample serving breaded chicken cutlet coated with panko over dirty rice and drizzled with a homemade lemon butter sauce. It was so much food that I was able to box half up for the next day! The meal was good but it would have been nice to have a veggie to accompany the dish. We splurged for dessert and of course got the beignets. The kids loved them, of course, and Tibby’s accommodated our request for sides of ice cream and chocolate sauce– the kids were in heaven. I remember the last time we were here I wasn’t impressed. This time the meal was better and the place was packed early on a Sunday. People dining were laughing and having a good time. Although not nearly as good as being in New Orleans and having the real thing, Tibby’s will fit the bill well enough when you have a Cajun craving. I look forward to coming back and catching some of the live music next time.

I can’t wait to go back here; their food is delicious. Had lunch here with a couple friends and we all left with a big smile on our faces. I ordered their 12-Napkin Fried Roast Beef Po-Boy and although it was huge, all I could think about was wishing I could eat another. It’s exactly what it sounds like; a roast beef po-boy with cheese on french bread dipped in batter and fried, but wow, it was so good. The crunch from the bread, the creaminess from the cheese and the savory roast beef all work together so perfectly. It’s a sandwich that I would easily order on a weekly basis if I visited this area frequently. After everyone enjoyed their meal, we decided to order some of their beignets covered in powdered sugar. They were tasty as well, but pretty much on par with others I’ve had at other restaurants. The service was average, not much to contribute or take away from our dining experience. I’ll definitely be back.

I decided to give this place another try, as we were meeting up with friends here and I thought why not? Again I was disappointed with the food, but this time I was glad I didn’t spend as much as I did the first time… We ordered the Ma’s Fries and also sampled the muffuletta rolls, as an appetizer. Maybe it’s because was I had the real authentic poutine in Jacksonville, but the Ma’s Fries was over sauced and salty and the meat wasn’t fresh, it was disappointing. The muffuletta rolls were just like an egg roll but with ham and cheese. It wasn’t anything special to write home about. I’ve had better… and dare I say the southwestern egg rolls at Chilis are 100 times better that these… and that’s sayin something! lol All and all, I hope to never be back at Tibby’s unless I absolutely have too!

So I love New Orleans cookin’ this restaurant really sold me on their shrimp n grits platter and also their catfish n grits platter. However their chicken n waffles left much to be desired. The chicken was seasoned good however the waffle was dry. Since their is so much waffle on the plate it made it a dish I probably wouldn’t keep getting. But all in all I do enjoy eating at this restaurant and am eager to try more dishes!

I heard and read raving reviews about Tibbys and want to check it out. We had the Muffueletta spring rolls as appetizer and they were delicious. I especially loved the dipping sauce that it came with. For my entrée I have the chicken and andouille file gumbo. The gumbo itself was very tasty and I loved the flavors. The service was also great. It was an altogether great dining experience. The only reason why I’m giving 3 stars is because I was expecting more from the menu and the selections. It is a great restaurant and highly recommend it.
