Convenient location. How ever the fruit and veggies we bought there went bad the next day and the stuff we did eat had no taste. Very bland tasting produce. Also the guy bagging my berries squished all of them. It is a cute establishment.

Stopped by this place on our way back from Viejas. There were new owners and we were told it had only been open for a few days. The woman owner was so nice and there was a very sweet dog there as well, which kept my daughter entertained. They had a pretty decent selection of fruits and veggies and some really cool canned stuff(made for them by the Amish). We bought some beautiful tomatoes, southern jam(a mix of peach, strawberry, etc.), bacon bread and butter pickles and habanero garlic. Everything was so good! My daughter loves the jam and my husband was eating the habanero garlic right out of the jar. I think it’s safe to say that was the most popular thing I got. I will definitely be back.

Right off the freeway in Alpine… been here twice in the last week. Excellent fresh fruit & veggies… also jams & honey. Had the fresh roasted corn yesterday… mmmm!!! Very friendly & family owned!

Love this little place. Best cantaloupe I’ve ever eaten by far! Only thing that sucks is that they are not open all week. Only thurs-sunday other then that I love it. Oh and try the habanero salsa it was amazing!

Adequate selection but the prices were outrageous. There is another organic farm in Alpine that has much better prices. Overall, it seemed like a touristy spot for folks heading East on I-8.

Super friendly people, great produce and the price is amazing. I stopped in to get a bag of avocados and I think there were probably at least 20 in the bag and it was only $ 5. The nice lady working the day I stopped also gave me an apricot to try and it was probably the best apricot I have ever had. I wish I had bought some of those too. It’s a bit of a hike from downtown San Diego, but if I am ever out that way, I will definitely be stopping again.

Frosty Acres is simply amazing! Best for strawberry picking and honey! Friendly people, great food, lovely environment. I grew up on a farm, and it’s so wonderful to be able to get farm-fresh right-off-the tree/vine tasting produce again! If you’ve only shopped at a grocery store, know that there is a world of difference in taste and feel. Frosty Acres has fantastic seasonal, local raw honey available year ’round. I *literally* will not buy my honey from anyone but them. Best place for picking your own strawberries, especially if you’re with a group. Ask for a small or large basket and they’ll point you to the strawberry field! Bring your basket(full) back to them, and they’ll empty them into a bag so you can purchase and take home. HINT: ask for your strawberries to be split into a few bags so that they don’t squish under the weight. Everything is incredibly fresh and organic, so you’ll need to eat your produce soon after buying. My preference is to buy small amounts, a bit more often.

Friendly and helpful, great local place. Only issue I have ever had is buying so much stuff I can’t use it all before it goes bad!

I’ve only been here once and it was for a Christmas tree. They had a huge selection of trees varying in height and width. I wanted a small tree to put onto a table(so that my dog’s wouldn’t pee on it) and was able to find the perfect one. The prices seemed a bit expensive but after some searching, I was able to find one reasonably priced. I stumbled a few times because the trees were randomly scattered on a dirt incline and the lighting was poor. So be careful for that. After picking out a tree, I wandered into their little store and was pleasantly surprised. They had a wide variety of fresh jams and jellies which were the perfect Christmas gifts for family and friends. The prices weren’t unreasonable. I believe they had some kind of deal going on at the time. All in all, a cute little place.

My first visit was several years ago when I first moved to Alpine. The guy working there was slicing off pieces of red grapefruit and giving them to customers as they came in. It’s hard to refuse when someone hands you something for free. For anyone who has ever been to Costco, you know that some people will make an entire meal out of free samples for their whole family, and in some cases, their extended family as well. I had never really liked grapefruit, but I figured what the hell and tried it. As I bit into the lustrous fruit, it was like the event horizon of the BIG Bang was taking place right there, I suddenly existed in every form and state simultaneously. I stood there motionless, speechless, absorbing the flavor of the sweet chaos that this magical fruit had just unleashed in my mouth. Something in the back of my head is screaming at me to delete what I just said, but I will leave it for now. Let my statement be the measure of truth to what took place at Frosty Acres. Thank You .

We were drawn in by the kitschy hand-painted signs after exiting onto Alpine Boulevard from I-8. I think they should have one that says, «You betta make a leeefttt!»(It’s the opposite way from town, you see). What we found is a great small fruit & veggie stand featuring a wide variety of local and regional(from Mexico) produce, both conventional and organic; honey, and a small selection of grocery items. Very reasonably priced; friendly proprietors. If you’re as big a local/in-season-o-phile as me, BEFOREYOUBUY, stroll down the driveway to the garden on the gently sloped north-facing hill to see exactly what they’re growing on site. You could also ask them, but perusing the rows of amazing crops is more fun. While we were there, a man was stocking a table with organic strawberries that he had just picked fifty feet down the hill. It would be hard to get any more local or fresh than that!

After our sushi fix for lunch, Sarah got in the mood to do some cooking of her own and something she’s not done in a while is her homemade coleslaw. Boy was I excited to hear that the coleslaw was coming! Cause it’s soooo good! We’ve been hearing about Frosty Acres for about two weeks now that we’ve been in the Harbison Canyon. Just off the Alpine Blvd exit from the 8, we were instantly mesmerized by the sheer and utter cuteness of the place. Owner? Worker? Not sure, but as we were browsing the aisles we heard from around the back, «be right there!» We browsed the aisles and placed all the veggies for our cole slaw in the basket, and while there were bags available, Sarah opted to just pile ‘em up. Now, we did also grab some apples, oranges, and other impulsive stuff. Grand total? $ 6.50. At the Albertson’s or VONS, that woulda been at least twice as much… or I’d figure $ 20 or so. Good times! Great find!

Interesting fruit and veggie stand… nice selection and friendly staff. They have an area with discounted food that is ready to eat RIPETODAY so it is very inexpensive. The regular prices are not a bargain, but not too expensive. They also carry honey and other canned goodies.
