«Mom, I know you don’t have shit going on, so can you PLEASE sign for a package for me? It will arrive around 3PM, via FEDEX». Before I go any further, I would like to clarify that sometimes FedEx IS the only shipping option, even if you A) tell them you will pay more for UPS or B) offer them your shipping account number. Call me a traitor if you wish, but I will ALWAYS bleed brown… «Yea, I’ll get it, but I have to leave by 3:30» replies mom. So as I am out golfing, I check the package status and it’s it red. So, WTF, did they lose it? Then I see down on the bottom– business/closed, customer not present. Scanned at 2:59PM. Well funny, because she would be leaving in another 30 minutes… So I called her to play dumb and see if she had the status of the package. «Oh yea, they left you a notice, you can go pick it up after 5PM at the shipcenter». Thanks so much for the help on that one, and people wonder why I am seriously contemplating getting her coal for Mother’s Day?!? I drive by this place every morning on the way to work, but maybe go in there once every few years(I am sure I will have to go back when my laptop is supposed to arrive– because it’s not like I will be home to get it!). So pulling in, wearing my UPS hoodie, I thought would be fun. I was actually greeted with a smile, handed my license over and only a few minutes later, the lady was nice enough to bring it out. As I was waiting, I saw they do have shipping supplies or what not, and it was nice and clean in there. The fact it is the local FedExExpress hub it makes it less prone to get lost in transit or left on a truck. When she brought out the box(which was hella bigger than I expected), she brought it on a cart and told me I could use the cart. I thanked her for the offer, but then decided to manhandle the box on the way back to the car. So believe it or not, the competitor can actually be decent at times, even if you go against them every day! It’s nice to know that option is there, and close to home– if I ever need it again(ie– next week).
