I was pleased with the review that Alpha Home Services provided. The inspector, Scott, was very thorough and pointed out several things I missed when I did my own observations of the home. I visited the home three times looking for issues, but missed several things that Scott pointed out. The inspection took around 3 hours for 4,241 square feet of space. I walked around the property with him and was allowed to ask as many questions as I liked. He encouraged me to look as well because he said«Two eyes are better than one». I pointed out things as he taught me what to look for in discrepancies with the way something should look versus signs of an issue arising. He also encouraged us to look at the house after a heavy rain. Because rain was in the forecast, we were able to see the house right after the rain took place. We observed areas of concern that we would not have seen otherwise. Also we were able to confirm issues/non issues with the roof because we could see if leaks abound because of the precipitation. I would recommend them to other home buyers or investors looking for great qualified home inspectors.

I do not have another company to compare Scott’s services with — but he completed our home inspection before we bought it. We were told by our realtor that he was detailed and would pick out everything which was not quite accurate. The first red flag should have been his lack of a ladder. Something about not having the insurance. I don’t know. My husband was there and it was 3 years ago. But. The actual appraisal… He told us our roof was in good condition, but we would need to start budgeting to buy a new one. Then, 1 month later we found out our roof had extensive wind damage and needed to be fully replaced. In addition, we were told that their was wood rot around the chimney that we need to replace that Scott never pointed out. In addition, we were told we had a past squirrel problem, when in fact it was an active squirrel problem. Also told to budget to save for a new HVAC system. Budget to save = needs to be replaced. Yup. We replaced the HVAC right after the roof. And, we also appreciate him saying a water leak appeared to be a prior water leak. That was fun to fix too. Knowing what we know now, we probably would have walked away from this money pit but instead we bought it blindly. Or negotiated another selling price on the house.
