A few years ago, my(now) husband and I were invited to three weddings in the same summer. All three invitations sat on our coffee table and one thing became clear, when you order invitations from ‘The Place Online’, there is a chance you’re not going to be the only girl wearing your particular dress to the party, if you know what I mean. Two of them were identical(save for the color). Third one was remarkably different, however. It was unique in nearly every way and it just screamed CUSTOM. That’s when I learned that the bride was a graphic designer. At the wedding, her design for the program and all the other paper incidentals were just great! We kept our place setting cards on the desk for decoration for like a year. I resolved then, that I would not be the cookie cutter bride, and that Lori would do my invitations. When my turn eventually came, I met with Lori and told her that I really wanted to be different. She immediately started(ugh, the cliché) thinking outside the box. Pretty soon, she had sketched out a unique flip-style book with rivets holding it together, a neat pocket for the RSVP — a postcard to save money on postage and envelopes, and the basic idea for colors and design. She made our save the dates, our thank you notes, and our invitations. I got more comments on them than I can possibly count. People said really nice things like, «We’d never seen anything like those before!» and«They were the nicest we’ve ever received!» — which is just what I wanted! Other random thoughts: — When we first talked, I was into this flower — a white anemone with a black center. She drew it free-hand and it was awesome. We didn’t even end up using the flower itself at the wedding, but it stayed on the invitation! — She worked with me via email, phone and in person(We live in DC). She was very flexible. — I felt like anything I asked for she could do, and I was kind of picky. The«Can you make that font smaller?» and«That green isn’t quite right…» kind of picky. In the end, I got exactly what I wanted and asked for. — She put almost everything together for us! I’ve heard horror stories of people spending HOURS gluing and tying and stuffing things(from those cheapo websites) until they want to die. No such hellish tasks for us. Being able to save that kind of time 2 months before your wedding can not be under stated! That’s all. Carita Designs is the way to go for quality, service and uniqueness! __ Full disclosure, I have known Lori for many years now — she’s a great person and a great graphic designer!
