I got the two meat plate with brisket and turkey. The turkey was processed meat instead of real turkey which was really disappointing. If I would have know that I wouldn’t have ordered it. Also my meat wasn’t hot and neither were there baked beans I got as a side. However the brisket was really good and the sides –potato salad and baked beans-were tasty as well. It’s somewhere I would visit again.

Our family loves this place! The food is so good with no wait. The owner’s wife is a hoot and all staff are so friendly and helpful. It has a way of making you feel comfortable and wanting to come back again and again. My favorites are the boneless rib sandwich, the carrots, the cornbread salad, and the banana pudding. You can spend a small amount or lots — the choice is yours.

Prices are very reasonable! Staff is awesome and very friendly. Food was Generic and bland, best way to describe its food just that. Beans taste like can beans and potato salad seemed like it was from a food delivery service. Nothing special, if you took someone from out of state who doesnt know TX bbq they’d probably say its good. Look folks its not a horrible place but ive tasted greatness here in Dallas and this isnt it.

Great customer service, lots of smiles, brisket is tender and juicy. Reasonable prices. Not even comparable to the bigger chain Dickey’s or Spring Creek. If only I had known I didn’t have to drive way to South Dallas for some good BBQ!..

Not sure what the hype was all about. Brisket was very dry, place was littered with fly’s. Though the corn bread casserole was good, I couldn’t get past the grungy feel of this place. Maybe it was it off day. Will try again and re-review in the future. But for now, it’s a pass.

Friendly staff, cute old-timey building, small and clean place: the food? Meh. My under smoked brisket was a good tasting oven roast beef that may have been finished in a smoker(or liquid smoked as someone else noted). The half chicken, smoked, was dry but the skin was moist and the best part. The BBQ sauce(I count on rescuing weak Q) could not help either meat: watery, sweet, and low in flavor. Sweet iced tea wasn’t, but it was good dark tea. Oh well.

The brisket tasted of liquid smoke, and the beans tasted like Busch’s canned baked beans. Disappointing as this is so close to my house, but I’d rather go to Dickey’s than this place. The sauce was good, so that’s why they got an extra star.

Unilocal helped me find this place. I had a taste for barbecue and after reading the reviews, I decided to check out Big Ray’s. The brisket was OK and the baked beans were super sweet so I’m not that impressed. There are definitely better places in the DFW area but Big Ray’s is definitely better than some of these chain BBQ places.

I went to this spot with a friend and her family. The food was absolutely delicious. I had the pulled pork sandwich along with the potato salad and beans. Everything just really hit the spot for me. The pulled pork was tender, the bun was other-worldly, and the house sauce was the best possible garnish for the meat to pull the flavors together. Based on the food that I picked out, the service and atmosphere, I give this place a solid 5 stars.

Place is nicer inside than pictures on Unilocal.Arrived at 2 pm and were the only customers. You order your meat at the beginning of a serving line. They cut your meat and you serve yourself one scoop of the sides, what ever number of sides you pay for. There are peppers and onions in a self serve container. The dessert is an upgrade, if you get the special or plates. The food was okay, but I didn’t like either sauce. The employees were nice, they will let you sample the sides, The green beans did not taste anything like I like, I would have seriously regretted that choice. The potato salad had a nice flavor, but was a little creamier than what I am accustomed. The baked beans were ok, I would have liked them to be hot instead of room temp. The bread pudding was interesting and a good source of sweet flavor, but two bites would have been enough. Not bad, but wouldn’t make a special trip to return.

It was the first time going to this BBQ restaurant and to make a long story short, it is the bomb! I had their ribs and brisket and reminded me of my parents smoking their own BBQ. Something that is lost in most Texas BBQ restaurants, at least from myself who is more of a Kansas City style BBQ guy. The ribs were juicy and flavorful, as well as the brisket. The sides we got: potato salad, BBQ baked beans, and coleslaw where really great as well. Not to mention, the peach cobbler was fantastic too. Ever since moving from Kansas, I have yet to have similar quality BBQ from a restaurant. Places like Rudy’s, Dickies, and The Salt Lick don’t come close to this restaurant. It’s Allen’s little secret and its a must to go BBQ joint in the DFW area!

Really good ribs and excellent chicken! The beans are pretty good as well. The green beans were not to my liking, but overall a pretty good BBQ joint. Great atmosphere inside w/some pretty neat decorations. Staff was nice and friendly too.

We tried this place for lunch today. It was our first visit and we used Unilocal to help us with our decision to eat here. My first concern was there were no cars in the parking lot at lunch time. Only two customers eating inside. The place was very clean and the folks behind the counter were friendly. I had the brisket sandwich plate with two sides. Everything was OK but not great. My wife had the turkey sandwich. She would not even take a bite. The meat has a weird color and it looked like rubber. She ate the side dishes and tossed the sandwich. So, if she were writing this review it would be a one star. Perhaps we caught it on a bad day? Not sure but there are other BBQ places in the area that I prefer.

Your typical BBQ joint with your choice of brisket, sausage, turkey, etc. Sides were pretty good and the overall price was decent. It was good, but nothing stood out of the ordinary.
