Stopped in here on our way back home from camping. The coffee was a delicious(it was milder) substitute for my beloved Starbucks. The owner, was a hoot and we sat and talked to her ad nauseam about her travels, living in Algoma & custard. Speaking of custard… try her homemade custard. Thank me later.

We were looking for a nice family restaurant in Algoma. This is it! A unique storefront café whose proprietors live in the attached home. The entire storefront is glass window facing the east, so it is brightly lit and gives you a nice view of the city. The dining area is filled with art, some of which was created by a family member of the owner. The drawings are for sale also. There is a small selection of jewelry and souvenirs for sale as well. Toward the back there is an upright piano a couple guitars which belong to the children who will sometimes come out and play. They have a complete breakfast menu and several lunch items. The café is only open until 2pm so the menu leans toward breakfast. Coffee, cappuccino, lattes, and hot chocolate are their specialties. Everything is made from scratch in that delicious home cooked style. as the previous review stated, the hash browns are great. A must have here. We were there early on a Saturday morning in February and were the only customers. We got to know the owner and the history of the coffee house. They are super friendly. The wait time may be a little longer than you’d expect from a large restaurant because they only have 1 cook. If that turns out to be the case let me tell you it’s worth the wait. I would list this as one of my favorite breakfast places.

Stopped here for breakfast on our way to the winery. This place was very quaint. The food was good and very inexpensive. The menu is basically a la cart, so you end up getting exactly what you want. I would recommend eating here, but make sure you allow plenty of time. It took forever to get our food, but I can’t complain because everything is made fresh and made from scratch. The owner was very nice and friendly. The pancakes were fluffy and delicious, the hash-browns were perfectly seasoned and crispy, and the coffee was also very good.
