This is a VERYBAAAAD place. Do not go! Leave it all for me! We originally went to this little shopping center to have dinner at the Chinese restaurant, but it turned out to be carryout only. So we resigned ourselves to take out. A few doors down, I noticed Voila. As I walked past, I was not initially enticed, because of the somewhat stark interior. Out of curiosity(and greed), I went in to look at the pastries. I immediately realized that I might have misjudged this place. Each piece of pastry was beautifully decorated and presented on its own gilded miniature serving tray. The varieties included a luxurious assortment of ganache, toasted almonds, meringue, genoise, framboise, tiramisu and other varieties calculated to seduce taste buds. We took home 3 different slices, and were glad we hadn’t passed Voila by. I’ve been back since, and am happy to report that the croissants are unusually good, and the cookies are excellent, especially the almond sable. Yes, they’re a little expensive, but totally worth it.

I love this place! The pastries are delicious and the coffee is excellent. It’s so beautifully laid out and elegant. It is pricey tho but it doesn’t disappoint. I highly recommend this café if your close to the area.

Voila Pastry & Café is a little Ethiopian/French bakery located in the plaza across from the Huntington Metro station(it’s a couple of doors down from the Balkan Grill). Owned by Chef ‘Mimi’ Mekdes, this bakery has been around for about 3 years. Breakfast pastries(danishes, croissants, pound cakes, scones, muffins, etc.), European pastries(tarts, eclairs, tortes, and cakes), cookies, and coffee/tea beverages are offered, along with custom-order cakes for special occasions. I tried the following: the Pistachio Dream(pistachio Bavarian with crunch, set on top of a ‘crushed’ pistachio macaron(also GF); this looked pretty intriguing as it was in an elongate shape; however, this was my least favorite, as it was gel-like and didn’t seem too fresh; there also wasn’t much pistachio flavor from it, and the macaron crust was extremely dried out T____T); a Lemon Meringue Cake(vanilla sponge, lemon syrup, lemon buttercream, and brulee-ed meringue — supposedly one of the bakery’s most popular item, this was a bit too wet and a bit too sweet for me — it seemed as if there was too much lemon syrup drenched into the sponge cake); and, a Raspberry Chambord(vanilla sponge, raspberry mousse, and Chambord; another popular item on the menu, this was also on the sweeter side, and while I’m a huge fan of raspberries, it didn’t have that nice tang) — all the cakes just had an odd off-taste to them, so about a bite of each was more than enough. I also tried a Ham & Cheese croissant(I actually was a huge fan of this, as the croissant itself was buttery and flaky, and the filling was filled to the max with melty Swiss cheese and a generous fold of ham(which was a bit overwhelming)); and, some of the cookies(the bakery’s version of the Milano, an oatmeal raisin, an almond cookie, a shortbread cookie, a chocolate chip, and a cherry-topped cookie; the cookies themselves were a mixture of a dry/chalky taste, and I was surprised that the cookies were not sweet at all, compared to the mini/petite cakes). For beverages, I had a cup of Mocha Divine(this was actually pretty okay, as it contained chocolate syrup and was subtly strong), and the hubs had a Chai Latte(more tea-like, this was very watered down). The staff here were super friendly and kind, and I wished that I liked their baked goods more! However, I most likely will go back for the croissants(probably will try the pepperoni version next time)! +buttery and flaky croissants! :D +Mocha Divine beverage +gel-like/chalk/dry/off-taste cookies & cakes +super friendly staff! +located across from the Huntington Metro +a few doors west of the Balkan Grill

I went to Voila Pastry & Café on 12÷19÷15 to relieve some stress after dealing with the long lines at the US Post Office(in the same shopping center). I was surprised when I walked in that the shop appeared to sell premium baked treats including wedding cakes. Based on its location I had made the wrong assumption that is was a «lower end coffee shop». It was quite the opposite. It had some tables available but my 1st impressions told me this was a destination bakery not a place to hang out. I was behind a couple in line. The couple appeared to be ordering a lot of sweet treats and baked goods. I took the opportunity to ask them some questions about the business(while the cashier was preparing their packages). The women told me she was a frequent patron and couldn’t stop raving about the croissants. She kept telling me they were the best croissants(along with the madeleine cookies) were the best she had ever had. I ordered as a result when I got up to the front a coffee, a couple of cookies and a croissant. I got home and although the cookies were good(and a couple of the varieties I got better than average) the croissant was(like the women in line said) the best I had ever had. I plan on going back when I get a chance to this little shop to continue on sampling and finding some other«surprises». In a nutshell I am very happy I accidently found this place it is a hidden gem near the Huntington metro stop.

I really enjoy this bakery/café. To me, the cakes are tasty but unique, I mean, yes, I’ve had some of the flavors before, but some, I haven’t. One time, we ordered the tiramisu, the best I’ve ever had, I honestly haven’t been able to find another place that has made a tiramisu even half as good. But then, we had a piece of cake that was soaked in cough syrup. It was different and interesting to try. The slices of cakes are pretty reasonable, they are about $ 5 a piece and enough for two people to share, and, as said before, tasty and unique. ;)

Clean !! Recommend calling early to reserve the croissants, so fresh light airy! Perfect. Coffee is an excellent compliment, the brew is done right! Going to return for biscuits and scones only on the weekends,

Very good cakes and cookies. They have a lot of traditional French favorites, as well as some of their own twists. A little pricey, but delicious. Excellent customer service too… I really felt like they appreciate their customers.

Lovely spot with delicious desserts. My only concern is that ITISTOOOEXPENSIVE. In other words, over priced for small servings/pieces. For example, you can get the chocolate filled croissant elsewhere for half the price.

What a great little shop! Stopped by here one afternoon for a slice of tiramisu, and I swear it was heaven in a little box. I’ll definitely be back again soon to try a latte or some cookies. Honestly, everything looked so good, it was really hard to decide what I wanted!

Best cakes I’ve ever had. The raspberry chambord was the most delicious thing I’ve ever tasted. The cakes are perfectly moist and fresh. Aaaaahhh! Coming here for every cake from now on. Highly recommended by me. They also do customized cakes in case you have a really awesome party to host.

We stopped in & got a variety of desserts for a dinner party. They all looked incredible & they boxed them elegantly in dark brown paper boxes ensuring nothing was smooshed together & no prettiness was compromised. I really appreciate the variety & the lengths they go to for presentation. I think that’s key for desserts. Cakes & fancy desserts especially. Taste was a little underwhelming. I think maybe I expected too much — I’m not sure. But I will definitely be back to try out other items. I’m intrigued by the vegan options!

Great place to find to swing by and pick up treats for a family birthday celebration! Originally, I was looking for a whole cake but when I stumbled upon this place on Unilocal, the pictures made me want to try each individual pastry. And family style is how it was enjoyed! The desserts: I picked up the following: Princess, Pyramid Pirouline, Revenge, Caramel Macchiato Cake, Tiramisu, an apple filled pastry, and some coffee mousse dessert(name has escaped me). Needless to say, I walked out with the intention of trying plenty. The tiramisu was my favorite, and would go as far as saying that it was the best tiramisu I have tried. Other favorites were Princess and Revenge. The Princess is a layer of white chocolate, on top if a layer of vanilla cake with I can’t remember if raspberry or strawberry topping. It made non-fans of white chocolate a fan in the household. The Revenge is a layered pastry coated with almonds all around. The price of all of it was pretty fair, and pretty consistent with how pastry shops like these cost. It is also well worth the price. Ambience and service: The two working that day were super great and super helpful. We took the desserts to go, but it is a nice quaint little place that would be perfect for that coffee and dessert get together with a friend, a date, or family/group of friends. Make it a sweet day and try it out!

Alexandria, VA These are the days where I review presentation of foods instead of taste, since Im allergic to everything. But let me tell you. Oh my Prettiness! I was getting a sugr high from just looking! I also have an egg yellow allergy soI could not eat but they told me they had vegan options, but Im allergic to all veggies and corn especially was the substitute they might hve told me… Im salivating! Lol. Pretty place. Good customer service.

I waited patiently as I saw this place built and went in on day one to scope it out but didn’t have time to get anything. Fast forward about 6 months and it still looks as clean and bright as when it first opened. The small staff here seems to be really friendly and really know their stuff about what’s in their baked goods. I like the little bistro style tables and the bright walls in this place. Their display case makes me wish I had more opportunities to try their goods. I wish they had a small sampling for something different a few days a week. As much as I like the place, whenever I go in, it’s completely empty(even being across the street from the metro) so I hope they’re able to stay in business for a while. Anyway try them while you can!
