The Unleashed Pet

Really 3.5 stars. With a couple of longer trips coming up in the near future, I felt The Unleashed Pet would be a good change, after using a much larger pet boarding/​sitting service in the area with mixed results. My initial meeting with Christy was very positive — she is personable, friendly and obviously loves and cares about animals. I also really like the idea of Spot Check, the daily e-​mail update (with pix). It provides some peace of mind, particularly for those of us with «sensitive» pets who aren’t so comfortable with the pet sitting experience. So I initially engaged Christy and The Unleashed Pet to take care of my two cats for six days during the week of Thanksgiving.
Unfortunately, my experience with Spot Check left a lot to be desired. I received my first day’s e-​mail and pictures, but nothing on the second day. The following afternoon, I e-​mailed Christy — she quickly replied by forwarding me the Day Two e-​mail, and I promptly received Spot Checks for the next two days. Alas, my good fortune didn’t last, and I again received no updates on days five or six. I was also a little concerned to find six days of mail still stuffed in my mailbox when I arrived, although I had left instructions for it to be collected.
The Unleashed Pet did a perfectly fine job of caring for my pets — they were fed and watered, and their litter boxes scooped. Christy is also very responsive when contacted. But while I think the issues I had were an exception, I am a bit frustrated by my experience.

We started using this service when we went on vacation to Mexico for a week. Each day we received photos of our dogs for their 30 minute walk and play sessions. After the trip we stopped for a while and started back up when traveling and work became an issue. Now we have our dogs walked four days a week and sometimes more frequent when we are on vacation or business travel.
We have the ability to monitor our home remotely and it is amazing to know that we pay for 30 minutes and they are always there for 30 minutes. This means a lot to us! This is why we will continue to use Unleashed!

I engaged Christy to walk my beagle while I was out of the country and my dog was staying with a friend. Christy and Justin were totally awesome. I got pictures and email updates daily, which really put me at ease. I’ll definitely ask for her help again in the future.

This team of sitters is great with my two cats. I love getting the pictures each day, which really puts our minds at ease. They truly care about the pets they watch and I would definitely recommend them to anybody looking for safe and reliable pet-​sitting.

We had terrific experience with Unleashed Pet. They have come on short notice, and extended service when we got stuck out of town. Love getting the pics of our cats while we are away!

Christy and her team are fabulous. I trust them to give our two pups, a Boston Terrier and a Pug mix, the love and care they would give their own pets. It brightens my afternoons to receive the email describing how the pups were that day and to see pictures of them. They are honest and trustworthy. Christy let me know when she had to leave early one day on an emergency and credited me that day on the next month’s bill. Christy also accomodated our last minute cancellation. I highly recommend this team for your dog walking and overnight sitting needs.

They were reliable and we really enjoyed receiving the emails with pictures everyday. In addition, they were very courteous and professional.

Christy and Justin were great with our Boxer. They were always reliable and could always accommodate when our schedules changed last minute. One of the best parts of their service is receiving an email from them after they walked our Atari. It is always comforting to see a picture of her when we are stuck at our desks. Our hours changed and we no longer needed their services, but if we are a bind, they will be the first ones we call when Atari needs a walk or some play time.

I’ve use The Unleashed Pet several times over the past couple of years and have been completely happy. I love the emails they send at each visit with details of what they did, when they arrived and left, photos of my cats, and their statuses. Recently, I had to leave town quickly and even though it was last minute, Christy fit me into her schedule. I know it wasn’t easy for her but she was there for me when I needed her. I was already a customer for life because of their outstanding care for my cats but her recent action sealed the deal. I highly recommend The Unleashed Pet to care for your pets.

I love love love this company. Excellent service! Very dependable and I’m fussy abut my pets and their care. Can’t believe I found this gem.

The Unleashed Pet provides excellent and professional dog walking service at a competitive rate. The owner, Christy, has been walking foster dogs for us for a year now and has been incredibly flexible in accommodating our ever changing schedule and the varying needs of our foster dogs. The daily email and photo provides my husband and I a lot of peace of mind and is a unique offering. She and her colleagues really care about their furry customers. We would definitely recommend her to our friends.

The Unleashed Pet is awesome. They’ve taken care of our mini zoo on multiple occasions, and have always managed to fit us in, even last minute. The owner came by for the initial consultation and she is really down to earth and obviously loves animals.
Oh, and we get email updates with pictures of the pets. Love it.

Update June 2014: Christy/​Unleashed Pet has created great good will with us. For example, one of our pet visits only took 15 minutes (just letting dogs out into the backyard) so we were notified and refunded the remaining 15 minutes. We were unsure in the beginning if we needed an entire half hour for a «potty» visit. We are very pleased with Unleashed Pet’s honesty.
Also, whenever we email them, they respond very quickly, which I appreciate.
I can’t recommend them enough.

Very professional service in every way. My two kitties are always safe and comfortable in their own home and I now have the freedom to travel on a whim without having to impose on my friends or neighbors every time I take off. It’s so easy and convenient to make a last minute booking online and pay online, and they can always be counted on to come to my rescue with a spare key to my door if ever needed. They will pick up my mail for me and water the plants too. Compared to the price of boarding two cats, this service is a terrific value!
