While the location is not that great(but they’re moving soon, hopefully!) — I am a big fan of BDD. They are the closest thing to a food truck in Old Town Alexandria and their food is simple yet delicious. Their breakfast menu is my fave and their prices are awesome. I think it’s great that they have a big social media presence and I also think it’s great that they’re big fans of my dog too! They always like and comment on my Instagram photos — which I appreciate. «Bottom» line — they’re an Old Town staple and we hope to see them in their new location soon! We love BDD! :)

Very good thick waffles and tasty breakfast sandwiches at an affordable price. Coffee could have been a little stronger, but overall it was very good.

I would always pass by this place on my way to work in the morning. So one day I decided to stop for breakfast. I have had the breakfast sandwich which was mediocre but the next time I had the waffle and it was amazing. It was crispy and so soft and pillowee in the middle. I had to go the next day and get another. I have never had the hot dog, but why should I they serve the waffles all day!

I met up with a friend for breakfast on a Saturday morning; Mr. Keith was there with a friend who was helping out; I ordered a Bacon Cheeseburger 8:30 in the morning(oh, yes, I did), and my friend had the French Toast with a side of egg and sausage. The burger was well-done, had all the fixings(ketchup, mayo, mustard, lettuce, onions, etc.), and it was hot off the griddle with a nice little crispiness on the exterior; tasted great. Friendly service, solid food, and a great local business to support for your breakfast/brunch cravings in the Old Town area. +Bacon Cheeseburger +French Toast +breakfast/lunch fare +friendly service!

Breakfast only: That’s a pretty decent breakfast. French toast — very fluffy. Bacon/egg sandwich earns my daughter’s enthusiastic thumbs up. Nice folks working there … not speedy necessarily. But tasty!

Well I stopped by the dawg today, and I have to up my review. The dawgs were just a little bit better with a nice snap in their casing. I also learned from the clerk that several of the points which marked the Dawg down weren’t even under their control. It seems they have to close by 4 and can’t offer outside seatting due to city restrictions. I can’t really fault then for things out of their control. Also. this was my first Unilocal check in offer, a free drink with a purchase of $ 8. Ah smoothe frosty Coke with real cane sugar. Thank you Unilocal and The Bottom Dollar Boys. A check in never tasted so sweet ;)

The Bottom Dollar Dog is along one of my running routes and I’ve passed by tons of times, but I never tried the food from here until this past week. Having now done so, I can say that it’s a great spot for breakfast, and I hope to be back soon. Bottom Dollar Dog is pretty much just a stand on the side of the road. There’s a bench to sit down on and eat, and a small parking lot/street parking in the area. Expect to wait for your food a little while after you put in your order, but it isn’t a bad thing… that’s how you know it’s fresh. I really enjoyed the specialty waffles. They change daily, but when I visited they had peanut butter and marshmallow or chicken with a sweet chili sauce. I was lucky enough to be able to try both. The waffles were chewy and delicious. I really enjoyed the peanut butter marshmallow combination, and the flavors on the chicken waffles were pretty good. One small complaint is that I was expecting the chicken to be deep-fried. It seemed closer to pan fried, and came in small chunks with mediocre breading. The prices and portions here(at least for the waffles) are great. The specialty waffles are only $ 5.50, and you get two of them.

just an update to let everyone know that BDD has REAL Coke from Mexico, made with cane sugar, not the corn syrup based US variety. Soooooo much better!

Eh. I agree with Justin and Elsie. Food is just fair, nothing memorable or worth going back for. My cheeseburger was dry and boring, the hot dog was a half a point better than that. Not sure what all the 5 star Unilocaling is all about. Staff was friendly though.

Delicious. Smokey. Grilled. Melted cheese. Breakfast all day long(different featured waffles). If you’re looking for a great hotdog-burger-grilled cheese lunch spot, look no further. Way better than BGR or Five Guys — The Bottom Dollar dog delivers all the flavor & quality for«bottom dollar» prices. Had the grilled cheese w/bacon & grilled onions and it was the best! Returned the next day for waffles and got their Nutella-Peanut Butter-Waffle and it was mmm! Additional notes: they love dogs, will come out and chat with customers, and will make recommendations for something new to try off their menu.

Wow. Seriously? To sum this place up in short: It’s pretty much a clone of the established & nearby Blue & White Carryout, except the menu here is more limited, things cost potentially 100% more, the quality is lower, and the portions are smaller. I’d say that these guys need to shutter the place and rethink their business plan, except that they seem to have nearly 100% 5 star reviews. All I can figure is that the other reviewers care about something other than the food quality, price, and portion size. Massive Unilocal fail. In hindsight, I notice now that the ONLY other negative review is from someone on my friends list. Elsie, I don’t think we’ve ever met, but you’re my go-to woman now for local eats. I’ll take your word over 50 strangers… or in this case, 18.

I live near the Bottom Dollar Dog, and go there all the time. Everything I’ve had from there is great, but the burgers and waffles are my favorites. I was also thrilled when I saw they had Moon Pies. I hadn’t had one of those since I was about 6, and they were as good as I remembered. The Bottom Dollar Dog is also the best deal in Old Town, and everyone who works there is helpful and friendly.

It’s all about the subtle, little things in life. For example, The BDD has some quality, A-grade, full of flavor half-smokes and dogs. Wherever or whoever they buy them from they’re doing the right thing because these things are BANGING with juicy goodness. The all beef foot long is great too with raw onions. The menu is simple and the guys behind the counter will let you pretty much customize anything how you want. The Steak and Cheese is great for not being a steak and cheese type of place. If anything is going to keep bringing me back though it’s gonna have to be the Mexican bottled sodas. Real sugar, great taste, the mango thing they sell makes me feel like I’m in the rain forest every time I pop the top off. If you work/live in the area you should definitely swing by this place for a quick bite or lunch. I come back all the time and I live in Fairfax!

This place is quintessentially«Old Town.» A local joint, owned and operated by a couple young guys, quirky and quality enough to earn a loyal following among locals. My friends and I live in the area and hit up the BDD regularly. Where else can you get a «Willy Big Time» at 7:30 in the morning(wow, that sounds sexually suggestive)? The couple as*h*@#s who gave bad reviews should return to the fiery pits of hell from whence they came. Communists.

Great breakfast sandwich for under $ 4. They made the eggs and sausage to order, that makes all the difference. I’ve got to get back there for lunch. Half smokes!

Love. This. Place. It’s right down the street from my work, so you’ll see me there for lunch pretty much every day. I’m a huge fan of the french toast. If you haven’t tried it, I highly recommend it! The half smoke is great too and the steak and cheese is fantastic. The fact that these guys serve breakfast all day is Wonderful! I love that I can get a good meal in Old town now for less than $ 10.

Read about the boys in the Old Town Crier, and walked down there today to get some lunch for myself and a coworker. Great story behind the building and what they do, and they’re really nice guys. Energetic and excited about what they’re doing, and they treat you great. A lady asked how big the hot dogs were, and she was told«They’re normal sized, but ridiculously flavorful.» Sounds like a winner, right? I ordered 4 dogs, 2 drinks. $ 18.55. WTF? At $ 2.50 each($ 2.73 with tax), this should be a frank that knocks you on your ass. Not these. Go to any supermarket in NC, and the hot dogs are sold as Red Rockets. Nothing special about them, no amazing flavors, but the color is an unnatural red that reminds you of an aroused beagle. And not even long franks, just the same sized beef byproducts stuffed into a throbbing red casing and cooked on a grill. I guess people are particular about their hot dogs. My friends in NC love the Red Rockets, buddies from Brooklyn love their Nathan’s grilled franks. I’m partial to dirty water hot dogs from NYC… you know the ones from that shady looking guy with the dirty shirt and sandals, poking a fork into that delicious and magical brine of salt water seasoned from round after round of long and slender Sabrett House O’ Wienies brand smoked beef frankfurter cooking and retaining all that juicy, sinful flavor, neatly tucked into a steamed bun and covered with mustard, sauerkraut, onions, chili, or a combination of whatever you imagine being your recipe for an indigestion filled evening regretting eating them, but never being able to say no. Preferably washed down with a Yoo-Hoo. And guess what — that NYC dirty water dog from the Greek lady up the street from my home in the Bronx is $ 1.25, $ 2 for a frank and a soda. Although these guys are great and the franks are cheaper than eating anywhere else in Old Town, I feel like the only thing bottom dollar was the solitary dollar bill sitting at the bottom of my pocket when I walked away, that I wound up donating to a kids charity when I turned the corner to head back to work.

I refer to it as The BDD. My friends ad I just randomly text each other«BDD in 10?» and then we rally there. Why do we choose the BDD? Because we like the owners, the food is incredibly high quality, and it’s as cheap as hell. You will not find a better got dog in VA/MD/DC. One note: FOODISMADETOORDER! They don’t leave dogs on the grill waiting for customers. This means it might take 5 – 7 minutes for a fresh gourmet hot dog. Worth the wait every time. Keith and his business partner are the type of people that embody the American Dream. Too legit to quit!

What’s a food that every normal person enjoys(but might not advertise it)? HOTDOGS! — and these guys do them the right way. Grabbed a couple of chili dogs for lunch — wasn’t expecting anything special but they were excellent — possibly the best I’ve had. Go here, get dogs, eat, repeat.

What a surprise find! I was out walking with a friend this afternoon and we stopped over at The Bottom Dollar Dog to try it out. He got a hot dog, and I got the grilled PB&J – WOW! Not only was it delicious and inexpensive, the guys inside were so fun. They really looked like they were enjoying themselves, and one of the guys is actually the grandson of the original owner. This is America at its core, my friends. =)
