Sundogs Canine Consultation and Training

Although I have owned and fostered many dogs over the years, I know nothing about training. Then, I met my match with two, young unruly pit bulls. Pit bulls are loving and loyal, but strong and stubborn. Peggy Bowers was recommended to me by a veterinarian and I arranged for her to help me with the youngest (and poorest behaved) pit for six weeks. She came to my house, and was always punctual. Her method is very positive; every followed command is rewarded. And mistakes are greeted with «oops.» My dog responded amazingly well and at the end of the training, I felt more in control. I will continue to work with my dog, and will have Peggy return to help me reinforce what she taught, and also work with my other pit.
I have only the highest regards for Peggy and Sundogs, and am pleased to recommend them to other dog owners who are struggling.

We adopted a second dog with an unknown history. She is about two years old and very fearful. She is afraid of people, noises, fast movements, being touched on the head, being looked at, a stiff breeze, days that end in y, and oxygen (probably). She gets confidence from following our older dog, but on her own, she simply goes dog-​atonic and hunkers down in a corner. I was afraid of how fearful she was, so I was not sure how to proceed. I had gotten her as far as I could on my own, which was that she would allow me to sit next to her, and, if the other dog was being loved on, she would briefly come in for a momentary pat.
Peggy came for a behavior consultation. I can’t remember how I found her, but I appreciated that she listed her prices on her website. I love dogs, but I’m still conservative with my money. I know one behavior consultation will not be an end all, and the real investment is not in dollars, but in my time. I needed to be trained on how to help this quivering autumnal leaf of a canine.
Peggy sat with us for two hours, showed us training methods that felt more like play, emphasized praise over punishment, and encouraged certain interactions with our hound. We learned so much about how our pup is viewing the world. Something as simple as not looking at her can help so much! Her enthusiasm is contagious, and her love of dogs really shines through. You know that saying about if my dog doesn’t like you than I don’t like you? Well, Peggy progressed so quickly in those two hours with our pup that i could not help but welcome her into my heart. The response she got was remarkable.
I’ve just signed up to take a group lesson with Peggy. I have high expectations!
