This is my go to spot for Peruvian chicken. It’s about 20 minutes out of the way but totally worth it. The chicken is well seasoned. And the skin is slightly crispy which can be hard to find around here. The sides are typical for most spots and nothing exciting. The green sauce is awesome! Spicy goodness. The prices are fantastic. I can get a full meal of unprocessed food for under 10 bucks. Hope to try their fried frice soon. The establishment is conveniently located off Route 1. Decent amount of parking. Staff has always been nice and professional. The inside is sorta like a cafeteria — tiled floor, metal chairs with cushion, several televisions usually showing soccer, a few booths, and bsic tables. Try this place if you’re looking for great chicken. You won’t regret it.

The Korean place was closed as usual. Some coworkers I was with suggested it, so I went for the first time. Got the Peruvian(?) rice… spice and outstanding. I was really pleasantly surprised with the place. It doesn’t look like much, but we really enjoyed the food.

I live north of this spot off of Rt. 1 in Mount Vernon about 10 min down the street and I drive by it EVERYDAY but for the love of God, I don’t know why I never stopped here to grab some chow. I’m from Brooklyn NY and have been here since Jan ’00 as a former Army dude who was stationed at Fort Belvoir(via my lovely ex-wife who was also former Army). This spot is GALACTIC! and the food is out of this world! I stopped by there today after reading some reviews on Unilocal and I love every ounce of it all. I brought a ½ chicken with some black beans and rice and DAMN! it was unbelievable. The salad was on the money along with the dipping sauces… unbelievable. The order was under $ 10 and it took about 6 min from the time I ordered from when I bounced. Service was great and the ppl that worked there were very professional, friendly and warm. This WILL be one of my go-to spots and this Friday I will be stopping by there to get the Peruvian fried rice which looked like something Jesus Himself would have loved to dine on as a last supper. Just go there and get your eat-on, you won’t regret it and it will become one of your«GO-TO» spots as well… I’m all in yo! J aka Brooklyn Supreme

I decided to visit after seeing the reviews. This is my go to place on Saturdays when I want a great chicken! I like how crispy the skin comes out and the chicken remains moist. I usually order the quarter chicken with plaintains and order the fried rice with chicken. I agree with the other Unilocaler, make sure to ask for additional sauces since they both elevate the dishes to another level when you want that spicy kick or additional flavor!!! You will not be disappointed.

So I mostly just poach off others’ posts on Unilocal, but Supollo earned a few remarks. This place is phenomenal. Deliciously smoked chicken with succulent dipping sauces. They’ll throw in some freshly hand made corn tortillas for a buck fifty. Pretty good salad too. Amazing food at an affordable price. I’ll be popping in weekly for a cheap but delicious family meal.

If you’re looking to for just chicken, and you want your tastebuds to party in your mouth — then this is where you have to go. (Side note: my family and I have only tried sides and the chicken) Food: They need to keep whatever formula they have to make such delicious and juicy rotisserie chicken. They offer whole, half, and quarter chicken as options — challenge yourself to eat whole?(Kidding!). They also have a family package that offers a whole chicken, 4 sides and I believe 4 salads? I went there last night, and I hope I memorized that correctly. The salad as a side is delicious, it tastes fresh, has that crispy crunch, and the dressing out of this world. They know the dressing is out of this world — as they serve it in a little cup as a dip, and I dip the heck out of the yuca in that. I recommend getting yuca as a side, but I will say that they are all very tasty. The green salsa that they offer is phenomenal. I want to know how they make it. Service and ambience: It’s a go to the counter, order what you want, sit and wait, and they’ll call you out when you’re food is ready type of place. However, they are quick, efficient, and everybody who works there are very kind and customer oriented. They all look like they enjoy being there. They offer a good amount of seating, and works well with the space they have. There is music, and muted TV that always has something on. I do really enjoy that you are able to have a pleasurable dining experience, where you don’t feel like you’re raising your voice in order to converse with people at your table. Here’s my pusher and to drive it home. My mother will indulge in a place she really likes, and then it becomes old after half a year to one year. They have been bringing me to this place for well over a year. My dad and her(including yesterday’s meal) ate there about 3 – 4 times last week. It’s that good, that it’s addicting.

I’ve eaten at Su Pollo at least five times and it’s consistently a great experience. The rotisserie chicken is amazing and we love the sauces. Give it a try; you won’t be disappointed!

I recently moved into the area and began trying out all the food from around the world. Peruvian charcoal chicken is by far my new favorite. The staff is friendly, service is fast, and the chicken is delicious.

«Su pollo restaurant» is a very good choice for anyone wanting to try something new and or return to for more. I decided to try this place out after all the Unilocal reviews and wanted to see what all the hype was about, and I’m glad I did! If anyone shows up here not knowing what to get(like me) you can’t go wrong with their«combination platter» plus you get to sample at least 4 of their items. I could eat here everyday and I’ll definitely be going back for more.

Pretty good for a Peruvian chicken joint! Everything was delicious! The chicken was perfect… tender and flavorful. We also ordered the rice and salad. The rice wasn’t dry and had a nice flavor. Loved the dressing on the salad!

I put off writing this review for a while, hoping to come up w/something wordy and eloquent to describe the food at Su Pollo. But twas a fool’s errand. In short… This is the dependable chicken joint down the way. And god bless them for being just that. Sure, you can dabble in their non-traditional fare(FWIW the lomo saltado was delicious, if not a veritable gut bomb of the highest order). But the pollo is the standard. And although it’s not the best I’ve ever had, it’s better than most and fairly consistent. (That sounds like a low bar but believe me, being good and consistent is a rare thing in a food joint around Fort Belvoir.) Tip: Avoid the lunchtime knife fight, arrive and order by 11:30.

I don’t hand out needless praise, so understand when I say that this is 1 of the top 3 chicken dinners I’ve ever eaten — that I am in fact serious. I would like to rent an apartment upstairs so I can smell that delicious fragrance all the time. The chicken aroma was so fantastic that I had to slow myself while eating my basic(but adequate) salad. The skin was perfectly crisp and spiced to perfection, and the flavor went all the way through the tender, moist — dare I say succulent? — breast. The steak fries and the accompanying dip were also good but I was so full from demolishing the chicken I only ate a few. Well worth the trip!

A-okay, in my book. I’ve been here several times and I must admit, I’ve had better Peruvian Chicken, rice and beans elsewhere. I was looking forward to juicy flavorful Peruvian chicken on my last visit. What I got was chicken with crispy skin and a flavorless breast. The skin had all the flavor. The meat wasn’t dry, but it left a lot to be desired. The rice and beans were good and the plantains were cooked nicely. As aforementioned, this place is good… but I wouldn’t go as far as calling it great. The customer service and the prices are pretty good. I would come back only due to the convenience of the location.

I have frequented Su Pollo many times over the last 5 years that I’ve worked at Fort Belvoir. The place itself looks a little sketchy to the untrained passerby, but Su Pollo doesn’t need to rely on aesthetics to keep customers happy. It’s all about the food and after trying several other Peruvian chicken joints in NoVA, Su Pollo is by far my favorite. My usual meal is the ¼ chicken with a side of yuca. The chicken is always seasoned to perfection and the yuca is always hot and crisp.(NOONE does yuca better than Su Pollo.) The salad that comes with almost every meal is nothing special, but I like to think of it as a vessel for consuming the white sauce. I always order extra white sauce to dip my yuca in — it’s basically a thick ranch dressing, but it’s my favorite out of all the variations I’ve tried elsewhere. I prefer the spicy green sauce on my chicken. The chicken and cheese sandwich is loaded with green peppers and onions and is worth the longer(when compared to the almost instant delivery of the ¼ chicken) wait. The plantains are a perfect blend of fried crisp and sweet mush. There’s also beef and fish options on the menu. Group seating is hit-or-miss. If you show up anywhere near noon, expect a line and limited seating.

One of the best Peruvian chicken spots in the area. Everything has tons of flavor. The chicken is tender, the sides are good, and the sauces are the BEST. Like most of these chicken places, the building isnt much and the service is standard. I would visit more often if I lived closer.

If you think you have had the best Peruvian chicken and you haven’t been to Su Pollo, you haven’t had the best yet. Tender, full flavor chicken. Super crispy yuca fries and a rice that has a great garlic flavor. The inside seating area is a little small as this place is so popular and it fills up quickly.

My friend and I stopped here on the way home from site seeing and were both pretty hungry. I had a loaded chicken wrap that was very large(I saved half for my evening meal) with rice on the side. My friend had a steak and cheese sandwich that looked quite filling. I heard no complaints. He had the fried plantains as well. With bottled drinks our total was 20.71 and seemed reasonable for the quality and amount of food we received. The environment was like a fast food restaurant where you ordered at the counter but they brought the food to your table when it was done. I wasn’t looking for fine dining so I’m not rating it so much on the ambiance. If I lived close by, I’d be eating here frequently.

About 2.5: Aw, I was disappointed that Su Pollo was inconsistent in their Peruvian chicken preparation and their service! My friend and I came here after getting our nails down a few blocks down, and I suggested this place as she has never tried Peruvian chicken before; I remember Su Pollo being so delicious! When we walked in, it was kind of disorganized; there were people waiting for their carry-out orders, and there was a short line at the cashier. The owner/manager didn’t really seemed to care whether there were people waiting and was more interested in socializing with one of his friends. We got there around 8PM, so we had a good solid hour before the restaurant closed down. It literally took about 30 minutes to get our orders in and to wait for our meal to be called out! One of the staff was already cleaning up the dining area and had the tables tilted and the chairs put away! It was kind of off. When we finally received our food, I pointed out that we are planning on dining in, since we still had a good solid half an hour(cough). The chicken itself had great skin, but the meat inside was a little too ‘wet’ and seemed to not be as succulent and juicy the previous experience — there were some part of the meat that seemed to be slightly undercooked and not cooked all the way through. You could swap out the green sauce with the aji sauce, so that was nice, and the employees didn’t seem to put up a fight when I asked for a couple more. I was a little sad as I thought Su Pollo could be added to my Peruvian chicken favorites, but I am not sure if I’d go back! :( +extremely long wait to put your orders in in the late evenings +restaurant prepares to close shop at 8PM, even though they close at 9PM +chicken is inconsistent in terms of preparation +difficult in turning in off of Route 1

Love it! Parking was easy, it is a family restaurant Peruvian style restaurant so it is loud. Reviewers big babies that complaint about music lol I was surprise there wasn’t a live band which is traditional at Peruvians restaurants. The salad is bigger than a cole slaw side dish, and I can tell they make their own dressing sauce so it is real good mmm Chicken was perfect. I will recommend this place to anyone who love to eat good food
