First time I’ve given 5 stars! Was looking for some bonding time with my two teenage boys without dipping into their college funds. I was first impressed when they called me back after I called and got their voicemail, which I later learned once I walked in that it was due to the employees being engaged with the customers. It looked more like a social gathering than a place of business. I was greeted in a friendly and respectful manner despite the fact that I walked in with teenage boys with piercings and ripped jeans. The owner Jerry fellow Navy veteran took me and my boys under his wing. Taking his time to show us proper handling of weapons and target practice on their super awesome later system. I wasn’t expecting much from a laser system but can say that I was highly impressed with the accuracy and realness of it. In hindsight I’m so glad I took them their for their first time instead of a real range. Jerry was able to set the right habits and techniques before bad ones set in. Now they are ready for the real thing and they will enjoy it that much more. Jerry took care of my boys and I and I am telling everybody I can about this great place.

In the interest of brevity, I would say that I agree with other reviewers on a few points:
1. The people at the shop will take whatever time you need to get educated about the products and to determine whether what you think you want is what you need. I spent at least half an hour with each of Ryan on my first visit and Jerry on my second visit. Between the two visits I did my own research and ultimately came to a rational decision as to what to get.
2. I was completely ignorant of ARs when I first walked in. They did not take advantage of that; rather they helped me understand the options, patiently. Clearly, these are guys who can talk ARs to neophytes such as me, or people who have had several tours abroad.
3. I was very pleased with the price/​quality ratio of the AR I purchased. It did take about 6 weeks for the item to come in after I ordered/​paid for it, but all’s well that ends well. I don’t attribute the delay to the store and I didn’t need the rifle the next day.
Other comments:
— For a modest fee, there can be included with your AR purchase an orientation with the rifle involving both classroom and live fire at BRA. I’ve scheduled that course but haven’t done it yet. Great expectations.
— The other training/​practice courses they offer all appear interesting and I will be taking those as well. I’ve taken several pistol courses over the past two years and am of the view that everyone who owns a firearm should take, at bare minimum, a basic safety/​handling course. The more knowledge, the better.
— My primary interest in weapons since I got into shooting has been with pistols/​revolvers. Most of the pistol selections at SD are of the composite, semi-​auto variety. It would be cool if they had a more diverse selection. I think of it as primarily an AR shop.

These guys are awesome. Very professional, extremely knowledgeable, and no sales pressure. Prices are competitive as well. Highly recommend!

Here’s a pro tip. If you go to the concealed carry class on a holiday weekend there’s a good chance the class will be small. Maybe just you and a buddy. Maybe just you. This morning I got 4 hours of individual training and coaching from a special warfare veteran. This would normally cost 4 to 10 times as much.
Aside from the great value, the training was great, practical, and useful. We covered a wide variety of gear, laws, and situations. I highly recommend this training, and be on the lookout for expanded inventory and services at specdive in the near future.

SpecDive Tactical has a knowledgeable, experienced, and friendly team.
I’ve purchased/​ordered 2 set of items from this place, and despite a delay in the delivery due to vendor issues, I’d still use SpecDive Tactical as my primary source for arms and accessories.
As a newcomer to firearms, SDT Staff was more than helpful to answer any questions/​concerns i had and as you can see from other reviews, their communication is great for all levels of experience with no arrogance at all even with their years of experience.
Some would say their wait time is long, but I had no issues waiting for my turn. This establishment sells Gears/​Tools that your life would eventually depend on. They’re not making sandwiches and sending you down the line to speed things up for the next guy. I for one would not like them to do that to me or anyone. They will help you look for what you need and provide any info for other variants of that model.
The Training classes they offer have flexible schedules that I will be looking into soon.

Never bought a gun but I’ve recently developed an interest in them. They have a pretty decent selection of guns and the staff are incredibly helpful and friendly. I spoke with Ryder McKee who was very knowledgeable and patient with us. He showed us the selection of guns, gave us a brief introduction to basic gun etiquette, and helped us become a bit more familiar with the different roles that these firearms can take on and which better fill those roles. The staff took their time explaining things and made sure that if we were to make a purchase, we would be able to do so with confidence. Honestly, when a brick and mortar establishment competes with all the online options we have today, one of the best way to keep the competitive edge is to make sure your customers can make their decisions knowing they’re making the right one.
Their German Shepherd is pretty cool too.

Came here on a Sunday afternoon with my boyfriend. I have been looking for a market-​priced gen 4 glock 19 for a few weeks. We came in here, looked at the gun and I decided to buy.
While the owner was running my background check, he went to help another customer. He was the only one working in the store at the time but we got a little impatient when he was helping the second customer for 35 minutes and left me in limbo for the sale. No biggie though. I got home
And found only two magazines, not three. When I called the owner was totally fine with me picking one up the next day.
The reason I’m giving this place 4 stars and not 5 is because the dude made me announce my weight to the entire store. It’s on the form I just filled out – the form any gun owner has probably seen a million times. Also he got pretty preachy about gun laws… don’t assume I don’t know what I’m doing because I’m a woman.
All in all a fine gun shop. I’d go back.

My husband and I literally stumbled across SpecDive while shopping at one of the flooring stores next door. Because we have recently moved to a new house which is quite isolated, we thought it might be time to buy our first firearm (both of us have shot many times with friends) Jerry, the owner, was very helpful and patient and not at all pressuring.
Because the Glock we both liked was not in stock, we made plans to come back in a couple weeks and pick up the gun in conjunction with taking the basic handgun safety course (10% off the gun is part of the deal). The guys in the shop were also very helpful explaining things like the laws regarding transporting weapons In your vehicle.
Clinton, our instructor, was great. Very patient, helpful, and encouraging. Range time and targets were also included. We had a great time and at the end of the 2 hour class, we felt like we were ready, willing, and able to use the weapon if the need ever arises, which of course was our goal. We expect to be a regular customers.

Jerry (the owner) was extremely knowledgeable and helpful. He helped me get the aimpoint optic i needed. I am thrilled to have found such a great store for all my future firearms and accessory needs.
Update: ive since returned to specdive several times since. I have purchased two guns from them and have been very pleased on both occasions. I also went to get a new slide release on my glock. They had the pistol back up and running in no time. Amazing customer service. I wouldnt consider going anywhere else for my firearm needs.

I finally found a firearms store in Northern Virginia that has a great staff and great items for sale. The owner, Jerry, genuinely cares about getting you excellent equipment for a great price. He’s attentive and honest.
SpecDive also offers training from a personable and knowledgeable staff. I recently attended their combat pistol and rifle training over the period of a weekend. It was an unforgettable experience at a beautiful range with excellent instruction.
I’m looking forward to what’s to their future and being part of the SpecDive community. Seriously, I’m so glad there’s a good firearms store in NoVA.

Owner was very knowledgeable not pushy at all. Fun to talk to and was an ex eod soldier which was sweet.
Hope to visit again in future and take one of many tact classes.
Recently moved to this location so stock is scarce for now but he has a ton of stuff coming.

Great guys, Jerry and Don. Came in to look around and ended up staying for maybe 30 min talking about guns, holsters, concealed carry. Very gracious with their time and knowledge.
I’ll be back to go through their concealed carry course with my wife.
