Point at Park Center

This is a nice condo community with close to 500 unit, most of which are 1 bedroom in the Garden Style units while 2 bedroom units are in the larger buildings (4 stories) and encompass the end units at each end and floor. It is a gated community and having lived there, you get to know your neighbors on the floor and the associations has parties to get to know everyone including a pool party in the Summer. The perks are its a great location, easy access to I-​395 and Mark Center/​Pentagon along with a free shuttle and gym. You can also walk to XSport fitness as well as good chiropractic care in that building, and if motivated a TGIF about 6 blocks away.
There is some noise issues as others has discussed but if you find a unit facing the parking lot, you will not be subject to the Highway. In addition, with the HOT lane expansion to I-​395, they will be putting up new sound barriers for those condo’s facing the highway. Parking has not been a problem with a new visitor policy and as one member mentioned, you can always call the association to report a car lingering in a visitor spot and it will be towed (they are very responsive).
If you are looking for easy, convenient and safe, look no further. We enjoyed living there and the sense of community until our family expanded and we needed more space.

If you want absolute quite then don’t move to an apartment right off 395, go buy a house!

At first glance, this may look like a charming community. I know that I was fooled coming in. I should have been tipped off by the reviews and comments on the parking– and by my own experience in trying to find a space. If you are a visitor, or trying to find visitor parking, forget about it.
Secondly, the noise. Having grown up on a farm just off the highway, I’m not particularly bothered by the sound of cars driving by on the interstate, but I’m still surprised at how loud it is. For my first couple of nights here, I kept looking for a window that I left open. The sound is that distinct.
The thing that really irks me about this place, however, and the reason for the low rating, is the Association hours. I moved in on a Sunday and needed to use their shuttle service to the metro line to get to work the next day. In order to do so, I was supposed to get a pass during office hours, which as you might guess are M-​F 9 – 5:30. This I find to be quite ridiculous. When I called about other options, I was told to take a day off. Really? In order to use services that I’m paying for, you can’t have at least a day or two a month with extended hours that might benefit the majority of people who work 9 – 5? Ridiculous. So now I’m stuck sneaking on the shuttle, hoping not to get kicked off until I can accrue enough vacation time/​credibility at my job to show up after half the day, just to get my ID. Awesome.

I’m writing to put this place on the Unilocal map for people that might be looking to rent or buy here. This is not «Apartments», but the Unilocal choices didn’t leave me other options. I chose Apartments because I believe a vast majority of these units are renters. My landlord alone owns several units that he rents out. I would think long and hard before I chose to live here:
Pros:
Community is gated, so it does give the aura of being very secure.
Community is conveniently located. Just about 1 minute from 395 at the intersection of Route 7 and 395.
Community has a decent gym and pool as well as a metro shuttle that runs morning and evening during the week.
Cons:
Half of the complex is directly facing the 395 on ramps. The noise is aggressive.
The inter-​unit noise is also aggressive. You can hear quite a bit of noise from neighboring units.
While the community is gated, it’s not only easy to access the community (like by following another car in), the buildings are all easily accessed by the stairwells.
While it is a dog friendly community (and I have a dog here), I have never seen so much dog poop left behind by owners. It’s rampant.
And the coup d’etat — guest parking, while ample, is not enforced. I have literally (and yes, I know the word) looked at the same car, in the same visitor spot, since I moved in five months ago. It has flat tires. This wouldn’t be so bad if there were street parking, but this neighborhood doesn’t afford that luxury. Therefore if you have a guest (or god help you several), you’re out of luck. There is no where to put them. It’s abandoned car /​second car /​I have a roommate that’s not on the lease parking. You cannot have guests if you live here. Period.
I would think long and hard before you purchased or rented here.
