I wish there was a way to give 0 star rating. After a long air travel day at work I decided to order pizza as that was the only option that was open… I thought of the Papa John’s tag line & ordered my items online. Obviously, it was past carryout hours & delivery was the only option left so I went for it as I was famished. After 40 minutes or so, the delivery guy makes it to my building. Hands over my pizzas & the side. I see the box was deformed & greasy. I check the pizzas & they were messed up. Pizza was under cooked & doughy. Garlic knots were even worse since all of the garlic sauce was leaking through the box & due to that they didn’t even taste garlic-y. I don’t know how the delivery guy drove since I live less than 3 miles away from the place. Very disappointed with this delivery service as it was a TOTAL waste of my money(including the tip & delivery fee). i was better off picking up something from Taco bel nearby. I think the corporate should make note of this since most of the customers are disappointed in delivery service for this location. NEVERORDERINGVIADELIVERYAGAIN!

Normally when I have a craving for pizza while I’m at work I order from a small local chain and only order Papa John’s Pizza when I’m at home but I had earned a free pizza because of my Papa Rewards points and figured why not use it. The closest Papa John’s to my work is the one on Duke Street in Alexandria so that is where I ordered my free pizza off of their website. I ordered around the middle of the lunch rush and was pleasantly surprised when it arrived quicker than I expected. The pizza was hot and tasty, just the way I like it. Good job Papa!

They made wrong pizza and took it for delivery when I told them I’m going to pick it up. Waited 30 extra minutes and didn’t get any discount. Didn’t expect stomach pain from spinach Alfredo pizza, but eventually I did. Very disappointing ! Will never ever go there again!

Ordered a pizza online for carry out… I came 10 minutes after the time it was expected to be ready and I still had to wait 30+ mins for it. When they finally told me it was ready the pizzas were cold. Absolutely ridiculous.

Superior customer service. I have twins and my hands were full and the cashier walked the pizza out to the car! I screwed up my online order and they made things right. I wish I knew your name so you could get a pat on the back. Thank you thank you thank you!

My wife and I decided to order delivery from this location, it was our first and last time. We ordered online, pizza was ordered at 7:18, didn’t get here till 8:23 and we live two miles away. It was a simple order one large pizza, 8 piece wings and two liter soda. When it finally gets here it’s cold, has a hair in it and we didn’t get the two garlic sauces that we ordered and paid for. We call the store and the manager Tim says we’ll send you another one, with the sauces. Over an hour and a half later we call back and ask what’s going on. Tim says«Oh, yeah, we still have to get that out to you.» My wife hears this and tells him how long we’ve been waiting and that we were starving and he pauses says sorry then tells us in a confused tone that there driver got into an accident. God forbid, but wouldn’t you let your customers know about a delay? We feel it was a lie. We tell them to forget it since the order was never replaced. He says that he’ll refund us and I tell him my name several times through out this phone call and gave him my address again and assume he’ll refund us. Nope. My wife had a hunch since they dropped the ball a couple times already to make sure they have the right name and address. So we call back to make sure and he asked if our name was Justin, which its not. He had the wrong name and address, so we retell him and make sure it’s correct. NEVERAGAIN!

This place is pretty meh. I only live 2 miles from it, but when I order delivery, more often than not, they take forever to deliver(I’m taking 45 minutes to over an hour, which is ridiculous). And by the time the food arrives, it’s almost certain to be lukewarm, stale, and gross. Honestly, the online coupon codes(44% off every wednesday, 25% off everyday, 50% off when the wizards win, etc) are the only reason I ever order from here. I should also add that they’ve messed up my order a handful of times.

I haven’t had papa johns in about 3 months but after today I do not want it again. The cinnamon stick desert has changed. I found a hair in my food. And there wasn’t enough cinnamon sauce on my food. Very very upset with papa johns.

Ok… tried to give these people the benefit of the doubt, maybe it was a bad day last time. I guess everyday is a bad day at this papa johns! I ordered a pizza, estimated time was 30 – 40 mins, 40 mins after that I receive a call from the driver saying he’s going to be late. I call the location spoke to the manager offers to give me my pizza for free when it arrives. Also, to call and ask for him to receive a free pizza to make up for the mishap. 30 mins later. Tried to order online with 25% promo code advertised everywhere, but it didn’t work on this store’s website. Asked the girl how big large versus XL… she said«XL is pretty big.» I asked how many slices… since her answer was not at all helpful. She didn’t know, so the asked a guy who gave her a joking answer. «No, seriously!» Lots of laughing. Still no answer, and no time to listen to them flirt lamely. Just went with 2 large which was roughly $ 35, which is not a deal at all. Won’t be ordering from here again. The Italian restaurant nearby has much better pizza at the same price.

Bad customer service. It took more than an hour to get a large pizza when the place is literally 10 min away from my house. People over the phone wasn’t kind ATALL. Will never order from this place!

I ordered a free pizza due to being sent the wrong pizza last time. The pizza finally arrived over an hour later and was COLD! A hot, fresh papajohns pizza is hard to beat. Unfortunately, this is not what I’ve got the past 3\5 times. This location is very slow.

This particular Papa Johns is literally right around the corner from my place, so I always place any order for carryout. They are very consistent each time, and offer good weekly deals. Most of the time, I usually just get their original pizza, but every once in awhile I’ll be in the mood for the thin crust. Papa Johns is very generous with their toppings, and I love the taste of their fresh dough.

Every time I have ordered from here I have been annoyed. The crust is ALWAYS doughy and undercooked. Even when I asked for well done. Finally just started ordering thin crust but that takes so long and comes barely warm I’m just done. I normally love papa johns so it sucks I can’t order one to be delivered as long as I live around here.

In a word: SLOW! I get that I ordered my pizza well done but that doesn’t add 20+ minutes to the«expected» or actual delivery time at any other pizza chain. And I used to defend them with the Alexandria rush hour traffic but on a Sunday morning when it takes over an hour for my pizza to arrive — there’s simply no excuse.

Very good and tasty pizza. We always got the pizza with no red sauce and was delicious.

We love our local Papa Johns. We never have any problems with our orders and they are always delivered fast while still warm :). We picked up a couple of our orders in the past and we always dealt with nice, professional, and polite staff. Papa johns is what’s for dinner!

I never thought I’d say this, but after years of being a Papa Johns devotee I’ve officially changed to Domino’s. Not only has Papa Johns been moving the wrong direction(from freshly made sauce daily to canned stuff — my friends confirm that), but honestly it is always more pricey than even Domino’s. The canned sauce, bland crusts, cardboard breadsticks and odd specialty creations(who wants a 5-sausage pizza? And the«chicken parmesan» pizza is just their chicken poppers on top. That’s weird.) have really just ended up disappointing me for the past year or so. Until Papa Johns has the same«awakening» experience that Domino’s did, I’ll be changing it up!

Sadly, the address isn’t the only thing that changed when this franchise moved from its previous home on Van Dorn street. A lot of the staff did too. The new location is managed chaos at best. I always walk-in to place and pick up my order and ½ the time«something» happens to it. The last time — I placed my order, wandered over to Rite Aid for about 15 minutes, came back and was told it would be ready in a minute or 2. 10 minutes later — the counter person started to look around for my pizza when I asked if it was coming soon. 10 minutes after that he said«one of the delivery guys must have taken it» — only problem with that excuse, the pizza the delivery person should have taken was no where to be seen, nor were there any unassigned boxes. When I commented«so you basically never made it» I got another lame excuse. 15 minutes later(almost an hour after I placed my order) I finally walked out with a pizza and a muttered excuse/apology was the best the manager offered. The pizzas themselves are good(for chain pies) but dealing with the staff is really hit or miss — sometimes its great, other days pack a pile of patience. My only other gripe — since I live in the neighborhood adjacent to this PJs location — the delivery drivers routinely exceed the 25 mile/hr speed limit in the neighborhood.

Papa Johns is basically the Starbucks of the pizza world. At best it’s consistent(meaning you will always like or hate it) and fresh when they deliver it. You either like their cheese, sauce, etc. better than Domino’s or Pizza Hut or you don’t. I like Papa Johns better than the other big 2 pizza chains. It’s not as good as some of the local places but it’s not bad and they do have some pretty good deals. When I’ve ordered from this location it’s always been fresh, consistent, and delivered fast. If you order online, it might be worth it to check out for a minute and see if they have any coupon codes. I’ve ordered buy 1 pizza get 1 free off a code before, which brings up the philosophical question, «Is it better to get one really great pizza from a local place or two pizzas from the Papa with a coupon code for the same price?»
