Ming always treats my friends and I great. Sometimes she gets it a little shorter than my wife would like, but I love going to her.

I know the reviews are all over the map. It’s a shame because the place is the best«barber shop» I’ve gone to in over 25 years. The name«Manchester Lakes Barber Shop» is really a misnomer. .. truth is the place is a full-service hair salon. For that reason, I believe that is a big reason why some of the reviewers provided poor ratings — they were expecting barber shop prices and, instead, got hair-salon services(at the hair salon price) Bottom line: Go here — go to «Ming» in the first chair and she will work magic. Bob is in the last chair — his work is top-quality as well. I don’t have any experience with the lady in the middle chair… The place caters to men and women; however, most of the clients tend to be men. That’s probably due to its«barber shop» branding. Recommend calling ahead for an appointment. 24 hours in advance should be fine. Make an appointment with Ming — you won’t be disappointed!

I’ve been going to Manchester Lakes Barber Shop for 7 – 8 years now and I can’t imagine going anywhere else. The price is great for a high quality hair cut. The barbers listen to your requests and are always willing to fix/keep going to conform to your expectations.

Obviously, there are so many bad reviews it doesn’t matter. We’re in the area temporarily and when my husband went to Manchester Lakes a month ago, he had a guy that gave him a great haircut and beard trim. On the pricey side, but really quality. Today he went back and the owner cut his hair… omg…the worst ever. He might as well have shaved his head. But at least he can wear a hat. She asked how he wanted his beard trim… medium? It looks as though he has a couple of days growth… beard is nearly gone! He’s had the beard for 45 years and it’s the closest to clean shaven his kids have ever seen him. And to boot it cost $ 32 for beard trim and haircut! Ripped off big time! How does she stay in business?

Horrible quality and over priced, only thing that was good was how clean the place was… I’m from NYC where you can get razor lined edges, an actual haircut for $ 20 including tip.

Wow $ 22 haircut in a barbershop. When I told my new barber located 5 minutes away from this place, he wouldn’t believe me, mainly because on the average a barbershop haircut in this area is goes for $ 15. He thought they pulled a fast one on me. Well, it looks like everyone is fleeced the same at this place. I guess I’m not the only sucker. LOL Anyways, I was ready to pay, I thought it probably would be $ 20, and I had a $ 5 bill ready that I was going to tip her– that’s what I normally tip a barber, no matter how cheap the haircut is. She said it’s $ 22 and snatched the money right out of my hand. Then she said, «I keep this.» That was fine, because that money was intended for her, but shouldn’t she at least make an effort to make change first? C– for haircut, F for value, S–(as in Sucked big time minus) for customer service.

A hidden gem of a barbershop! I’ve been going here for almost 10 years now and wouldn’t go anywhere else. Ming is very professional and makes you feel welcome even when they’re busy. All of the barbers are very experienced and have a way of finding the best style for your hair. If you catch them at an off time you’ll get a nice head/shoulder massage too. The quality is definitely worth the price!

The haircut was ok and the barber was nice, but the price is way too expensive. The barber shop in Kingstowne town center costs $ 10 less – nearly half.

I’ve been going here since 1998, and Ming has always done a professional job. She takes her time, and is meticulous. $ 22 is a lot of money for a haircut, but that’s just about the going rate in the Washington DC metro area… unless you just want a buzz cut with electric shears and done in 5 mins. I prefer to have a scissor cut, which Ming does after she outlines my hair with shears. I also had good luck with one of her other barbers several years ago, but she has moved on.

Needed temp barber prior to vac, had an ok experience previously but since my time was limited I decided to give it another shot. When i walked in I was instructed by the rest of the barbers to proceed to the 3rd chair. The lady was washing her own hair in the sink and the owner was speaking on the phone in vietnamese as loud as you can imagine. I found that disrespectful towards the customers, I mean tone down the voice atleast. I finally got my cut and it was as quick and simple as possible, I left thinking ok it wasnt so bad but when I got home I noticed it wasn’t textured at all. I bet I could’ve done the same cut with a pair of school scissors. I’m not going back to that place. Def not worth the $ 22, I’ve paid half that for much better cuts.

Way too expensive. I think it was $ 22. I got a buzz(#5) and they finished up really fast without all the attention to detail that you get from other barbers. Normally a barber will go around and make sure all the hairs are the same length and puts a good degree of attention into detail. None here… No razor to edge anything; nothing. More Asian women that don’t know how to cut hair.

Worse haircut I have had in 40 years. The only worse one was when I was 11 and was cut by the barber. I have been going to barbers in the Northern VA area for years and this was worse place yet! Mimi was abrupt and harsh with the electric trimmer, keep dragging the cord over the front of my face, and couldn’t even put my hair back to the same in the middle part I walked in with; all this after I told her it was in the middle. $ 22 for a simple trim! Do yourself a favor and head down to the military base areas outside the gates for a good haircut. This place is the worse!

My barber that I’ve been going to for the last 5 years went on a month long vacation so I needed to find a temporary barber. I went to the manchester Lakes barber Shop about a year ago with an ok opinion; not the best but OK. I decided to give this place a second chance and man do I regret that decision. All I can say is if I wanted my hair looking like a slab of meat I would have asked the local butcher to cut my hair. My hair wasn’t even cut even and left me with patches all over.

This was my first haircut after moving to the area, and I need to find a new place. After 20 years in the Marine Corps, I like to have a barber that doesn’t cut with shears. I am not saying the place is bad, but it just isn’t for me.

It might not look like much from the outside… would be easy to miss — but this is a pretty good barber shop. If you, like so many, are on a quest for a barber shop(not a hair salon) — this place is pretty good. Not a lot of nonesense, they’re fast — you can walk-in. The nice Vietnamese ladies who cut hair could not be nicer or offer better customer service.

Ever since Minh opened her barber shop, I have been going there. It’s the only place I go to get my haircuts. All the stylists are very friendly, provide a great cut, and take their time to make sure you are satisfied. Also like to point out, I have been a regular for almost 16 years here. that’s saying something.
