I really like this place. Over the course of a year, I was taking at leadership class at George Washington Universities Alexandria Campus. On days I did not bring my lunch, I needed to get something fast that would satisfy the pallet on days that sometimes were as boring as staring at a wall. This place did the trick. While this is not a Philly style deli, it is about as close as you can get in the DC area. The hoagies are made with the traditional Italian meats instead of generic salami, pepperoni, and ham. The spicy hoagie is especially notable. It is not quick service like Subway is, but getting your sub does not take a super long time. Also, there is not much seating, so it is easiest if you are going back to somewhere. So if you are near the back side of Old Towne and are a sandwhich fan, try here.

The spicy Italian hoagie is delicious, everything about it is right. Good meat, spicy peppers and the right amount of dressing.

I love the Chicken Parmagiano Sub and always get the sweet potato fries. The cashiers and cooks are very nice.

I went to Italian Gourment Deli to pick up a sandwich for dinner on 10÷21÷15. I walked in expecting to see a traditional Italian deli(as the named implies). I was concerned when I saw an expansive menu and counters filled with lots of random snacks.(My experience of traditional Italian delis is their usually simplistic.) I was tired and hungry(and didn’t feel like walking around to look for anything else). I am very glad I decided to stay. I had an eggplant parmesan sub and picked up a tuna sub for lunch and both were good. It wasn’t the best eggplant parmesan I have ever had but it wasn’t the worse either. The«eat in area» is perfectly acceptable(but it is obvious that this place is more focused on carry out). I was impressed with how clean it was. In a nutshell, if you’re look for something simple and easy that is not fast food it is a solid option in the area.

The Philly cheesesteak was sadly mediocre. It was very dry and mainly steak and onion. There may have been three pieces of sweet pepper in there. The onions were still a little raw and the sandwich wasn’t hot enough to melt the cheese. Overall it was very bland. I initially chose unsweetened iced tea that was Brewed at the deli. I had to dump it out because of its strange taste. I can’t really describe it. I’m thinking that either the tea dispenser needed cleaned or it was recently cleaned and wasn’t rinsed out thoroughly. There are a lot of people standing around waiting for their order. The tables are in the same area so people were standing all around me while I was seated to eat. It was not pleasant to have several strangers butt in my face while eating. It was busy so it looks like a popular spot. I’d try it again but would not order the Philly cheesesteak.

We tried it because a friend recommended it to my husband. Now we go every single week, we can’t get enough. Although it’s like $ 8 per sandwich, it’s really big portion, I usually save the other half for later. The sweet potato fries are the best! I recommend either the true italian or the chicken cutlet!

I’ve only ever had an Italian sub here. I think it came up to $ 8 and while it was pretty big, the sandwich was soaking wet! It was dripping vinegar and oil everywhere. I could live without it, although there aren’t a ton of options in the Carlyle area for lunch. On the plus side, the cashier is super friendly!

I always get the roast beef sub at this location however recently when i got it, there were only two slices of roast beef in the sub. I did not taste any meat at all, felt like i was eating a vegetarian lettuce sub. I went up the manager and asked why they cut down on the meat because there used to be lots of meat in there, he said it’s always been that way. I’ve told him that i always get this sandwich and it used to be loaded with meat. Very disappointed and most likely will not be back again.

Great Italian sub. Surprising happy hour deals. Would recommend for a quick lunch or for a happy hour stop. Good sweet potato fries and onion rings. Would recommend to anyone.

Sandwiches are only OK here, but compared to the other options in the area it’s probably about the best. The reason this is 4 stars instead of 3 though is their ICEDCOFFEE, specifically the iced latte. It uses some extremely concentrated cold-drip coffee«tears» that they make on-site and it is both highly caffeinated and phenomenally delicious. Anyone who likes coffee really needs to at least try it once. It’s slightly pricier than the other options, but worth it IMO.

I gave this place 4 stars only because I liked my sandwich but I didn’t think that it was a «Wow this is an exceptionally great sandwich» moment. The staff is friendly, they have plenty of options, which I totally plan to go back and try. They even have a little bar which is cool because it’s a small space and I think they utilize it very well. I think it’s extremely convenient for people working in the area and the price point is great for such large sandwiches. I think maybe just ONE more slice of meat would have made the bread/meat/lettuce and cheese combo perfect!

Great sandwiches, especially on a hard roll. Tasty fries. Fast and friendly service. I come here for lunch often. Priced a little high for lunch, but I pay it.

I work in the area and my coworkers decided on this place for a quick breakfast. As we were in walking distance, I did not worry about parking. I did notice that there is only street parking and since this is busy business district, it is limited. I ordered the Western omelette, with turkey. It came with home fries. The omelette was delicious, while the home fries were just alright. They could use a bit more seasoning, which I am guessing could be added by the consumer. I waited about 7 minutes, which was not bad. Overall, when I do decide to get breakfast, I will definitely come here. Their options are plentiful. I have yet to try their lunch menu, which I am sure is delicious as well. They do have a bar(bottle and draft beer) but the area is small so I would only do a happy hour event when looking for something intimate; maximum of 3 – 4 people.

I had the chicken cheesesteak today and it was delicious. Make sure you ask for the sweet peppers because they are so good. The onion ringers were good too. I will be going back on my cheat days. :)

Good food good price but no parking… and if you find a parking space you have to pay for parking other than that it’s a good place for lunch

Let me start by saying that I am not usually one to feel inclined to spend time posting on review sites. However, with that being said, this Deli left me with such a «bad taste in mouth», that I felt strongly that others should know my experience. I think what I will out reflects what others that have reviewed this Deli have said. My Experience with Italian — lol Gourmet — on what planet? Deli — Sure. 1) I would not say that the staff is rude, but it is sort of this hurry up and order so we can collect the money and you can get on with it. 2) Price: A bottle of pellegrino sparkling water $ 3.75, thats a huge mark up, I understand profit margins but this is a bit outrageous considering you can get a case at costco for around $ 1 a bottle. Small Chicken Noodle Soup $ 2.99, this should really be $ 1.99 at most. Chicken Philly Salad $ 7.99, basically low quality chicken and cheese heated over a grille. Base of the salad is low quality iceburg, 2 tomatoes slices, 1 thinly sliced raw mushroom… whattt?!? why bother? Are you teasing the customer? To thier credit, the honey mustard from a jar tasted great! 3) Quality: Sparkling water — This is what it is, just incredibly marked up. Chicken Noodle Soup — I kid you not, it tasted like it was heated up out of a giant progresso can. While I say this, I feel bad because in someway I feel it is unjust to compare thier soup to any canned brand. Chicken Philly Salad — Look, this is what I believe thier business model is. Go to costco, find the cheapest bulk items for chicken, cheese, veg, ect. Throw it all together half heartedly and charge the customers the maximum possible amount without teetering the line of outrageousness too much. My final thoughts is that the only reason this place is still in business is because it has a good location near the US patent trade mark office where there are a ton of customers. Honestly even so, I am surprised they have business, this is definitely a fool me once, never again type place. I have had my share of korean delis from working at different client locations in the DMV area but at least the other places are reasonably tasty and the price point is slightly more acceptable. Ill leave you with this thought… For a bottle of sparkling water, small chicken noodle soup and low quality chicken Philly salad, my total for lunch was $ 16.57 after tax. I could get a maggianos classic pasta with a order to go for 12.99 plus tax… just saying

The reviews were not very good, but I was in the area and am a sucker for delis. I was pleasantly surprised with the chicken philly. It was not as greasy as others I’ve had here in Old Town and overall had some good taste to it. There was a steady flow of customers while I was there, but the wait was very reasonable. In my option, it’s a good little spot.

This is what happens when you get people that don’t understand real Deli’s. ^ This Place! 1. Bad quality Deli meat. The dressings and sauces and breads are cheap . 2. There’s nothing Italian about that place … 3. You get a quarter of what you should really get on a sandwich 4. Here’s the plus side — the Actor that played the Bad Guy from Karate kid II, the one that fought Daniel at the end, yeah, he works there, get a poster and have it signed by him if you’d like. Also tell him not to shake change in his pocket Furiously while smiling at you as he takes your order… LOL ! I’m joking about the shaking in the pockets thing but I wouldn’t be surprised either ways since he is a jerk off. 5. Want a beagle? Then go to Starbucks, the bagels they serve there are either wonder bread or cheap ones you’d find in a grocery store from the projects. And you get a half a sugar spoon of cream cheese on your bagel. I’m from NY so to me I really should not call it a bagel. If you are in that area just go to whole foods.

Nothing special, decent place to grab an affordable bite if you’re close by. I had the steak and cheese and it was easy on the cheese. The steak was heavily peppered which leads me to believe they’re hiding something. I’ll come again but I’m not exactly counting down the days.
