My wife and I went here over the weekend. We came after the normal evening rush. The restaurant was at most half full. It took us 20 minutes after being seated for a server to come and take our order. It took us another 10+ minutes to get our drinks. So 30 minutes into the meal and we just got our drinks. We did not get our appetizer for another 20 minutes — so at the 50 minute mark in the meal. I was pretty annoyed at this point, but we had already committed to being here and were just hungry. The appetizer was the blue cheese house potato chips. The chips tasted stale and like they had been microwaved — thankfully the blue cheese covered up the stale chip taste. I would probably not order that again. I am not sure how that took 30 minutes(from time of order) to make. While we were waiting our server brought us a couple plates of croissant type rolls with a honey butter. That was honestly one of the better parts of the meal — the free bread which was offered to us after being there for 45 minutes. Our dinners finally arrive 15 minutes after the appetizer. We were there for an hour and 15 minutes(when the restaurant was less than half full) before we received our relatively simple dinners. My bacon cheese burger was your standard burger, but pretty good. My wife’s chicken Marsala was decent, but they gave her a baked potato and mashed potatoes even though she asked for the latter with a broccoli. But she decided to not ask for the correct order, because who knows how long that would have taken to fix. The food was in a range from sub-par(the chips) to pretty decent(the burger). Our server was attentive(once he arrived, after we had been sitting there for 20 minutes with no service) and came by every 10 minutes. He was apologetic for how long the food was taking. I tipped him well, because it wasn’t his fault that the kitchen staff were twiddling their thumbs and not getting out simple orders. I may eat here again in the future, but only if we are in the Potomac Yard’s area and are in the mood for a really long wait for ok food.

Apparently, I’m the last person in my agency that has eaten at Hops, because EVERYONE that works in my building, seems to dine here for lunch. It’s a nice little break from the office, so I see why. In addition, it’s convenient, has free parking and plenty of available seating. This was my first time and I can honestly say that I give it 3 solid stars. Very casual spot for a quick bite to eat or to get a drink. I ordered the fish and chips and it was rather flavorful. The batter was light and it had the right amount of crunch when I bit into it. People rant and rave about the rolls/sweet croissants they bring to the table, but in my opinion, they were just okay. Don’t get me wrong, they were good, but I wouldn’t make a special trip here to get them. Service was cool, too bad the restaurant itself wasn’t. It was pretty stuffy the day I went. The furniture seemed to be a bit worn, but nothing too bad. All and all, I had a solid dinning experience here. I would definitely be willing to visit again for lunch.

Hops reminds me of Chili’s, so I wasn’t expecting much. The staff was friendly but very slow — we realized that the servers do practically everything — there are no bussers, so tables sat with dirty dishes and paper napkins for our entire dinner. Hops management — why no hire more staff so you don’t overwork the servers, and force patrons to wait for service? The night was slow as it was 10pm on a Wednesday and we still had to chase someone down to get our check. The food itself was perfectly OK. Basic, somewhat bland, overly cheesy. Our steaks came out way overdone(ordered medium rare and received medium well), but were seasoned well. The croissants everyone raves about are basic as well. I’d come back for basic pub food and beers, and only sit at the bar.

I haven’t been here in years, but I think that I will become a regular here. We sat at the bar, which was convenient because we were on a time constraint. I liked that the bar had high chairs instead of stools for comfort. The bar staff was excellent! We ordered drinks and lite lunch portion sandwiches and salad. They went above and beyond, making sure we were completely satisfied with our order. I would definitely go back, and more than likely sit at the bar again.

My boyfriend and I were getting our car serviced across the street at Jack Taylor Toyota so we came to Hop’s for a quick lunch. The food was solidly good and fairly priced, and we enjoyed ourselves. We each tried a Hop’s beer(both were tasty!) and I had a chicken salad and he had the ribs with fries. The honey croissants they brought out at the beginning was amazing! It was a typical low-key sports bar theme that is good for a Saturday lunch. Our waitress was also very kind and attentive. Overall a solid lunch place!

Now Hops is not a fancy place, but it’s a good place. I love the Southern Fried Salad because the fried chicken strips are so yummy paired with their honey mustard. The bartender makes really great drinks here. If you’re looking for a quick bite to eat in the area and don’t want to have to wait or wait long for a table, you want to try Hops. Save room for dessert because you will be happy that you got something sweet here.

Just left the place, beer is good. I had a cheese hamburger, wife had salad with chicken pieces. My hamburger was cooked as wanted, but it also had a fish flavor, cross contaminated with fish cooking perhaps the cook used the same spatula? Did not like the taste. Waiter said not possible, mystery to him. I was very hungry and it was gone by the time he came by to check on is. Wife’s salad was just fair taste, and had frozen lettuce. Not happy. Do beer is great, good not at all.

Guess we won’t be back here. The Jamaican chicken was very flavourful & succulent so kudos to them. & the honey butter croissant rolls were everything. I’m going to start by saying the food was pretty decent, it’s the service that gave me a headache. Why it took almost 25mins to get a glass of water & a glass of beer is beyond me. Then our food took another 40mins … really? I didn’t even know you get complimentary refills for the croissants — it’s the least our server could’ve done since everything was so slow that night. I’m usually willing to give places another try since sometimes off days do occur but the fact that our server didn’t even seem to be trying was such a turnoff so I’d rather not. That sucks cause I do like the food … maybe I’ll call ahead(way ahead) & order to-go next time :/

This is one of the worst experiences we’ve ever had. We waited for over 25 minutes for our waitress to come back to our table and get our order. I had to get the manager because she kept passing us over and over. When we got the food, my BF’s burger was still raw. We didn’t eat any of our food and told the manager the situation. It seemed to me I was bothering him. This was a S@!$& show from beginning to end. I attempted their website in order to log a complaint with the corporate office and the link is broken. This place is pathetic and I can see why they only have one location. Thank God! I wouldn’t want anyone else in the U.S. to experience this nightmare of a so-called restaurant.

Don’t waste your time. Wanted to have a good lunch-type meal with the family so we tried Hops. Server was horrendous. Came for a drink order and we said, «May as well order now.» She walked off in mid sentence after taking drinks and one child’s order. Disappears for 25 minutes. After kid is done eating her overpriced Kraft cheese and Macaroni, we finally get a manager, who is bothered that we are talking to him. Waitress comes back clueless as to why she was told to come to the table. I didn’t want to stay, I was pissed, but my other half ordered so I followed suit(mind you by now we already had people who came in 15 minutes after us getting their food). Food arrives for us at different times. Her chili was gross and she didn’t want to eat it. Then my burger comes, looks amazing, one bite… raw meat. Contact the manager who then argues that our meal will be free and appears upset that we are upset, not that his staff is sub par. Waitress comes back asking why I didn’t like my burger, I show her the raw meat pile. She asks and I decline a new one. I throw in the towel. And the beer sampler people raved about? Terrible. I had that before the piss poor service so my view isn’t tainted. It consisted of a shot glass of PBR, Budweiser, watered down yuengling, and another watery ale. Don’t waste your time.

I went here twice with my friend and both times they ran out of their famous root beer. .. Go figure. Anyhow, the service is good and their sweet buttery croissants are great. They are a meal in it self. Anyhow, the two times I’ve been here I’ve ordered a sandwich or a burger. Both times it filled me up and I was satisfied with the food.

I wasn’t a fan of this place a few years ago but recently, I visited this place twice and both times, I actually enjoyed it. Both times I went with a friend and we each got our own plate of honey drizzled croissants… I could just come here for the croissants. The second visit, our waiter just gave us extra without us asking. Wednesday, they have a 9 oz Brewmaster original steak special for $ 10.99 and it is served with 2 sides. Both times, my steak came out delicious and the way I ordered. This place isn’t bad for a simple meal and drinks but not a place I would recommend to go celebrate birthdays or anything special.

Honey croissants. Say no more! William was such a doll face. He was attentive and personable. The service is what I remembered the most from this place, due in part that I kept trying to get more honey croissants. One thing I will say, is that the steak I had here was higher quality than the rubber shoe I was given at Cheddar’s. Their baby rack ribs, just melted off the bone. I didn’t get to try their root beer, which apparently is something they are known for, but I did try their beer sampler. For roughly $ 5, you will get 4oz of each other their beers including the seasonal brew. It will not disappoint.

I enjoyed my ruben with sauerkraut, apparently one of their signature items, but the service was kind of awful. My group, albeit slightly large, was told we’d have to wait half an hour for a table despite being almost empty. We eventually split into booths which also took half an hour. I’d be willing to withhold judgement if they weren’t adamant about a 90% quorum. I understand if the venue was high traffic but my group almost left. Some groups can be awful but that should be reflected in a base line tip or courtesy extra tip. Beyond that the service was very average. There is a brewery on site, only had the Oktoberfest, which was again okay but not enough by itself to eat here. And I’m pretty generous to microbrew pubs. If I had to compare it to anywhere it would be Chili’s or Applebees’s…not the worse but with all of the options available why would you eat here? It’s better than the aforementioned and if you want a sit down convenient burger maybe? I would just chose somewhere else.

Came here for an employee engagement lunch. Let me just say that their complimentary croissant-danish things are EVERYTHING. So delicious, warm, and buttery, I could seriously eat them all day. And they just kept bringing them out– it got real dangerous, real quick. As far as the cuisine goes, they serve all-American food. I ended up going with the turkey club which was OK. nothing special. The service was alright/a bit slow, but our server did refill our drinks and those buttery pieces of heaven on the regular. The venue is HUGE so it probably has more of a following during happy hours and/or weekends.

Ok, let’s make this shore and sweet: about seven years ago, I used to come here all the time, but I hated it. However, stopped in today to find some really nice beer and some delicious chips with blue cheese sauce. so much better than what I experienced in the past. Hops is like that ex– girlfriend that hires a trainer and invest in several Dr. Phil therapy sessions, making me say want to say, «Please take me back, Hops.» Kudos goes out to my bartender Julio who was a a rockstar all the way.

I loved the feel of this place, very comfy cozy. The honey butter croissants were so warm and fluffy with just enough sweetness. Speaking of sweetness, the sweet tea hit the spot! It was my favorite part since it was pretty hot outside. I enjoyed all the food especially the linguine and it was huge — I ate it the next day for lunch. Just as much as I enjoyed the food, the service we received was just as good. After all that food, we went to see Avengers and were in food comas for the rest of the day!

We arrived for dinner very hungry at around 9PM. Upon entering Hops, there were 6 employees gathered around the host stand laughing and giggling. I don’t truly know who was the host, but eventually someone took us back to a table(they were actually debating who had to do their job). Once in the dining room, I felt like I was dining with«invisible» patrons as there was used tableware and leftover food on nearly 50% of the tables in the restaurant. At least it gave me something to explore while I waiting for our waitress(over 10 minutes to first greeting). Our waitress did apologize for our wait and brought out the croissant rolls and water. We placed our order for fear we’d be forgotten and everything but my soup came out. The soup was about 10 minutes behind the rest of the items ordered. All items were«luke warm» or possibly cooled to the point of heat lamp temperature. The iceberg lettuce side salad was fresh and crisp. No alcoholic drinks were ordered and at approximately $ 15/meal, I will not be returning. I wish I could explain what I witnessed, but I certainly say there were enough people«on the clock» just not enough people actually doing work.

One of my favorite places to eat in the DMV. My favorite thing: warm iced honey glazed mini croissants. The staff is always friendly and attentive. I love sitting in the bar area with the TVs. Everything is soon good. The salmon, the ribs, chicken tenders, fish and chips, salads, soups. You can’t go wrong with anything here. I have come here to eat on days that I should have been home resting. I have even come here 2 days prior to having to having a colonoscopy as «a last good meal». Order ahead and pick up. Don’t forget to ask for the croissants to go. I’m telling you — its worth it!
