I tried this barber once and never returned. It’s either the barber doesn’t listen to you, or does her own thing regardless of what you want.

I did not enjoy my experience.
I asked for a number 3 clipper cut and a trim.
I did not expect the clippers to be hooked up to a dry vacuum.
I found this to be quiet disturbing and did not give me a satisfactory trim.
I asked for my hair to be shortened up and again I received the dry vacuum cut.
It did not help.
I found that to much hair was cut off behind my ears.
I did not appreciate the substance that was put into my hair, without my permission.
I went out of convenience to this location, however I will not make the same mistake again.

I have been here a few times for the convenience factor, as it is close to where I have just moved to in Alexandria. The haircuts have been ok. On two occasions I got some cuts above the ear from the shaving.
My experience is that sometimes she does not listen to what you want, and it appears to me that unless you are getting a military cut, or something very close to it, you should go elsewhere. I keep the sides short, then comb the top forward with a little bit up in the front.
Today was the worst experience I’ve had. My request, verbatim, was «3 on the sides, trim the top a little bit». «Trim the top a little bit» turned into what was nearly a buzz cut. She saw me turning around to look at the mirror as I was puzzled, and she proudly exclaimed, «I cut you short today!». OK… but that is not what i asked for. Doing what your customers ask for is usually important when running a business. It was too late at this point, I just had to wait for her to finish.
When the cut was over she once again said «I cut you short! Can see your face better!»
Apparently, at least in this case, she just does whatever she wants. Not to mention, an earlier Unilocal review states she charges $ 1 for credit, which I had to use today for the first time. Well, apparently this has been updated. She now charges $ 3, which I think is a bit ridiculous. Will never be going back. If you need a quick military cut, go here. Anything else, and I mean anything, avoid.

Mrs. Sompong gave a quality haircut. First time here, she understood my simple tapered fade request and hit a home run. She also used warm shaving lather and razored it by hand (no machines for edging). She did such a good job the next guy who came in asked for same exact haircut. Thank you Mrs. Sompong!

Went to get a normal haircut. She was very attentive.

Have been coming here for years, Sompong does a great job for myself and my kids. She is very thorough and has great attention to detail. She is even open 7 days a week now. 12 to 5 on Saturdays and 11 to 4 on Sundays. She doesn’t overcharge. You can’t beat it.

This was the first time I’ve ever had my hair cut with a Flowbee. It was indicative of my experience… it sucked.
I told her I went there because she had great Unilocal reviews and that she should encourage more reviews by giving a discount. She quickly responded «I don’t give nobody discount.» Ok cool that’s literally your business.
I showed her a few pictures on my phone of what I wanted, which was the current trendy cool guy comb over. She said «oh yea ok, das da style now»
She seemed very competitive asking where I usually get my haircut and bragging about how she doesn’t care about customers saying she can’t cut hair. Because she has been cutting hair for over 20 years and has lots of customers.
The entire time she is cuts my hair with me facing away from the mirror. So I couldn’t see what she was doing until she was done. So when she was done, I ended up with a military grade high and tight with a slight comb over.
She charged me $ 18 because I requested a «style» cut. I guess only bald guys qualify for the $ 14 she advertises on her price list.

I just moved to the DC area from Georgia and this was the first place I went to. It is conveniently located close to my apartment so I figured I try it out. I told her what I wanted and it turned out great. She lined me up and faded the sides. I will definitely be going back.

If you need a quick and simple haircut, this is your place. Sompong was really friendly and talkative while I was there.
I got a nick or three during the shaving which is why I’m giving this a 3 star review, but the haircut looks great and the price is excellent, especially for the area. I’m going to chalk the shaving experience up to one bad day, and would be willing to come back again.

I just found this gem last week as I have recently moved close. Sompong is cheerful and does a military haircut with the best!

I get my hair cut fairly short (not a high and tight military style, but it’s short) and the owner did a great job. Only $ 14 too and I saw they give a military discount if $ 11. She pulled out the warm foam and straight razor for my neck. This is my new local barber!
