Let me be clear: Nanah does indeed do a good job. BUT, this talent comes with very little(to none) sense of professionalism. Appointments don’t mean nada around here, so do not bother. Just make sure to set aside your whole morning or afternoon to get your hair done. If they’re busy, you’ll wait. Expect to see people camped out(with blankets, iphones and the like) in the waiting area. OK, so that happens elsewhere I suppose and unpleasant as it is, it is nowhere close to being as frustrating as the owner’s nonchalant attitude about it. I have waited every time, except for this one early Monday I went in. Once, I had made an appointment… walked in to find Nanah working on someone else’s hair, and a bunch of other women sitting on the couch reading, sleeping, feeding their kids, etc. After about 10 minutes of waiting, I ask, «so is it going to be a while?» and Nanah goes«yes, about 45 minutes.» Whaaaaah? «But I had an appointment! You told me to come in at Xtime»…Her response: «I am late, what do you want me to do?». Yes, my friends. This is a «small business owner», an «entrepreneur» if you will, and a successful one at that, judging from the number of patrons in the salon, That’s good news for our economy. I think the recession must be over, if you can make a living as a talented, self-employed non-professional. That’s bad news for customers like myself who like to roughly plan their weekends ahead of time. I found other elements of my experience particularly funny, if not silly, as well: The first time I went in, after having made my appointment with Nanah herself, she had her teenage daughter do my braids. Daughter did a good job, I must admit, but, really, Nanah? That is how much importance you place on first impressions? The other time Nanah was having lunch(french fries) while working on my hair. Classy. Always on her cell-phone, TV blasting on the background(Wendy Williams, if you are wondering. And Maury.) Another time, Nanah left in the middle of working on my hair, to give another person a lift home(her daughter took over). She came back to finish up on time, so no biggy. Says she takes credit cards but always«forgets the thingy at home» so she makes you go get cash, if you did not learn your lesson the first time she forgot the«thingy» home. The other ladies in there are very nice, from what I was able to gather. And the prices are good. Overall, if the only thing you care about is outcome, I do advise you to try this salon out. I tried to go with it, but I just could not sustain the lack of professionalism anymore. So, until I find another place with people who not only know what they are doing but are good professionals who respect their customers, I will remain weave-less. If J-Lo can, so can I.

I found this place while stopping for phở. I am SOGLAD I took an chance for a new stylist. The women at Hair Links Salon did a amazing job on my hair. These stylist already have a clientele that followed them from their previous location at Landmark Mall. While I was there I saw beautiful examples of different locs, weave, and cornrows from clients that were getting service. Appointment times are quick(3 hours for take down and full weave) and excellent work! I am so impressed. I was paying way more and driving up to Maryland for rude service. NEVERAGAIN. I am not sure how much hair they have on site, but I did see some in the display case. I tend to always bring my own hair. If you use a particular type of produce, they are happy to use them if you bring it in. You may have to remind them at the wash bowl. My woman almost forgot, but it is understandable because they are used to a routine. I had three women who worked on my head: one take down and wash, one who braided, and Nanah(owner) finish with the sew-in. I am not sure if this is standard practice or just that night. Either way, their system worked well! 5STARS to Hair Links Salon for your customer service, skills, and all around friendly nature.
