Great Margaritas!!! I usually sit at the bar and enjoy the soccer and other sports on the Bar TV’s with the other patrons. The drinks are expertly crafted. I’ve had a few different burgers & chicken burgers and they are good. Guacamole is amazing! Salsa is very fresh as are their chips. One disappointment was their chimichanga. It tasted good, but it was grilled instead of deep fried. Now I actually like this better, it’s healthier for me and reminds me of taco bells grilled stuffed burrito. But I’m disappointed that they called it a chimichanga, but then didn’t serve what I understand to be a traditional chimichanga. Still overall friendly service, good food, good portions, and reasonable prices make for a good dining experience.

Mediocre, at best. I had the enchiladas and my friend had the grilled chicken quesadillas. Neither of us were impressed with our food. The guac also wasn’t fresh, and chips were greasy. We ordered margaritas and realized my friend forgot his ID at home so I can’t comment on the drinks(they declined to serve them to us although we are, and look, far over 21) but I can’t fault them for following the law. Just wish the food was more memorable. I’ve yet to find awesome Tex mex in the del ray or old town area.

The food was mediocre. I have no idea how this has such good ratings on Unilocal! The décor and the feel of the restaurant is very underwhelming. The complimentary chips were crunchy but they left a greasy taste in my mouth. The salsa was pretty much a jacuzzi of onions. The guacamole didn’t taste fresh and it was very mushy. I got enchiladas and my fiancé got a chicken chimichanga; they were edible, but certainly not delicious. We’re surely not coming back to this place.

Stop by for happy hour and you’ll keep going back. The margaritas are always great and the food fresh. The salsa is so amazing and fresh it must be made in house daily. The staff is always friendly and accommodating and makes you feel welcome. Great value and great food.

I am from Colorado and my husband is from Texas. This is by far the BEST Mexican restaurant in a 300 mile radius! Try the Steak Loredo with the roasted sauce. All vegetables and incredibly fresh! Actually everything is fresh!!!

Great Mexican restaurant just off the Braddock Road metro station. Not much seating, but there’s still room to enjoy a well prepared meal. The menu is the typical fare you’d expect. I ordered the chicken chimichanga and it was delicious. Definitely would go here again.

Might be good for the Northeast. Coming from the South is nothing special. Chips are perfect.

Walked by this place a handful of times on the way to Braddock Rd Metro and finally decided to try it. GREATIDEA. The food was delicious, and service was great as well. Came in on a Sunday night and it was only half full, were immediately seated and given some delicious chips and salsa. I ordered fajitas and holy cow they were good — delicious caramelized veggies, generous portion of meat, fresh pico and rice, and free guac! I was with two friends who both got enchiladas and gave them high praises. I will definitely be coming back to try the margaritas, they looked delicious.

Dos Amigos has lamb fajitas. Thought I’d lead with that. Across from the Braddock Street Metro station in Alexandria — of all places — I had my first lamb fajitas. Double lamb chops on the bone with a perfect sear and red center are served with a traditional garnish of cilantro, grilled onions and fresh serranos. We requested half and half corn and flour tortillas and split one generous order. Perfectly grilled, juicy lamb in itself is hard to beat. These also had a peppery, tangy flavor. We mixed the juices into our rice and went to heaven. Both the black beans and pinto beans are good enough to hold their own. I wouldn’t recommend one over the other — beans are such a highly personal choice — and in any case the lamb is the shining star. We started with seafood soup. Mussels in the shell, oysters, scallops and unpeeled shrimp were bangin’ in broth with a heat kicker. The menu describes it as a cream soup but I would not. There’s enough cream to make a simple broth special but it is nothing like a chowder and all the better for it. It needed a squeeze of lime but it was so good as served that we didn’t think of that until hours later. Simple, high quality, assertively seasoned components made these two traditional Mexican dishes almost magical, and lucky diners step through the looking glass to savor them. Good times.

Well, two years later and the Mexican food is still really good. Chips and salsa still awesome, this time around I ordered flatupas(sp?) and it was definitely tasty. Well worth it to go and check out!

Food was good, everything came out as ordered. Service was neither exceptional nor bad. Small but quaint setting, my ladies thought that the seating was a bit uncomfortable. Margarita had great flavor however a little bland on the tequila. Price was also a little steep for the quality and quantity.

Chips are thin and crispy, salsa is watery and bland, very heavy on the onions.

Outstanding special menu and we loved the BBQ ribs and Chorizo fajitas. The avocado and shrimp salad is one of my favorites! Love this place! Great owners and the staff is outstanding.

I stopped in with some time to kill before meeting hubby and the metro and was very pleasantly surprised. The house margarita on HH was $ 4, a decent size and better than I expected because my bar tender was knowledable enough to cut the mix with lime juice making the taste smoother. The chips are warm but as others have mentioned the salsa is more pico de gao(sp) style. HOWEVER, if you happen to score a side of their ceviche green spicy salsa, it rivals el centros habanero sauce, which if you know me, is saying a lot. Its spicy and flavorful and amazing. The bar tender was friendly and helpful discussing with me which dishes he felt were more authentic than others, which as a food snob, was encouraging and helpful. Can’t wait to try more.

The food here was amazing! I cannot vouch for everything on the menu but the meal I had was great. I had one of their specials — the lamb rib fajitas– and ordered sopaipillas for dessert. I was told that the aplle juice was 100% juice(not squeezed in house) but whatever brand it was, it did indeed taste like it was 100%. The tortilla chips they give in the beginning is VERY oily and thin but the meal was heaven. Go and try it out especially if you have their valpack meal discount.

So, I absolutely love the tortilla chips here. The salsa… not so much because it is very watered down and doesn’t have much of a kick to it. I ordered the burrito(half shrimp/half steak). It was pretty good but next time I will stick with the steak. This place serves huge portions and it’s very inexpensive. Not the best Mexicanu joint but not the worse. But the food is good so I would come back! Service was very good too. During our visit, one of the customers tried to get belligerent with the owner’s son, but the son handled it well and deescalated the situation. Very professional staff.

I wasn’t sure what to expect here since reviews are mixed, but this place is definitely worth a try. The salsa for the chips and salsa tastes fresh(almost like a pico de gallo) and homemade rather than the jarred type many places use. The shredded beef enchiladas were excellent, with lots of lean beef and a strong red chile taste. They came with fresh guacamole, pico de gallo, pinto beans, and rice. Everything was fresh without being greasy or too heavy. Service was very friendly and this place is right across the street from the Braddock Rd. Metro station. I enjoyed my meal here and will be back next time I’m in the area.
