Dennis T Cozzens, MD

Dr. Cozzens is seriously the best psychiatrist in the area! He has truly saved my life. I have been going to him for a few years now and I can’t think of one negative thing to say about him. He truly cares about his patients and does everything he can to help them. He is also very smart and extremely knowledgeable about medications and mental disorders. He really listens to what you have to say. He really has his patients best interest at heart. He goes above and beyond to make sure his patients have what they need to be successful. I recommend him 100%. He knows his stuff!

I would have to say that Dr. Cozzens is very understanding, caring, straight forward and just awesome. He seemed genuinely concerned about my situation and what I’m dealing with. Wish I would’ve found him sooner.

Dr. C. monitors meds, makes suggestions, and does so in a low-​stress, comfortable manner.
The office is professionally run, and I believe that there are mental health practitioners from several disciplines on site.
He doesn’t accept insurance that I know of, but provides receipts for claims.

Dr. Cozzens was the most unprofessional doctor my family has ever experienced. We have seen more than a few psychiatrists in the Washington, DC area and are pretty savvy when it comes to doctors.
Besides lacking interpersonal skills (makes you wonder why he became a psychiatrist if he doesn’t know how to relate to PEOPLE!), Dr. Cozzens was personally insulting, said inappropriate things, gave advice not supported by any facts, (he did not even ask for any supporting data —we’ve had many other tests and consultations throughout the years for this problem) and he prescribed a drug in the wrong dosage (i learned this later, after some of my own research). Thank goodness I didn’t follow his advice or his prescription! Patients beware: this is a doctor to be avoided at all costs. Please don’t waste your valuable time and money on such incompetence. It’s really a shame that the State of VA allows someone like this to keep his license.

Dr. C is the best psychiatrist I’ve had, and I’ve had a couple in the area. He’s kind, listens, and can make time for you in a crisis. I moved 5 years ago and kept his number this whole time just in case I moved back. That’s the sign of a good doc — you actually want to go!
And his secretary Carol is the bomb. It’s like having a second doc for the price of one.
