They don’t have the burgers at dinner time — I was super disappointed — they should update their website.

We went there randomly just looking for a place to eat(which is not usual for us as I always look up reviews and look up places) And we got totally surprised by the goodness of this place. The location is off of a strip mall, but when you walk in, its cozy and nice! The service was really good, the ambiance was relaxing although they had a lot of customers, it was not loud. Its not a black tie place but great place for a semi formal date night or dinner with parents. The food was the best part! Big portions and fresh ingredients! We will definitely go back there!

Made a wrong turn and saw the sign next to Golds Gym. Wow. what a cozy sweet comfy atmosphere inside. Outside appearance is misleading. Dishes from the Balkans & Germany how different! I feel like I found a hidden gem and must shout it out! Waiter was so friendly and helpful. Ordered the Cevapcici Appetizer and i was transformed into a taste bud delight! We had the Schnitzel and Trout salad… yum. Can not wait till Tuesday when all their entries are $ 11.40…and try other dishes. Perhaps Bosnia platter, Spaetzle, another Schnitzel, goulash. .oh…only 5 days away! Happiness. How could I have. missed this place all these years in Alexandria down Richmond Hwy? Pinch me… I must be dreaming.

The food here was so good! I came for lunch with my work group and the staff was super accommodating and very sweet. I had the combo plate and am now rolling myself out the door.

First time here pleasantly surprised by this family owned local gem. Food was amazing. I had the chicken schnitzel with salad. Huge portions at reasonable price. Atmosphere was quiet and staff was very polite I will certainly go back! It’s a must for locals and visitors alike.

I stopped here for a late lunch to-go because of all the great reviews. I got the Bosnian Burger and french fries. Both were tasty. The french fries were crispy, and the meat on the burger had a good flavor. I liked the sauce on the burger, but I will say, that if you are getting it to go, you might want to ask for that on the side. The fresh bread kind of melded with the sauce and made a sticky spot in the very center of the burger. It was still good. I plan to return.

The main dishes are uniformly good but the salad dressing is just oily and too salty for my taste. Nice ambiance and good service. We go here often!

WELOVETHISPLACE! I have been going here since it opened. The food has stayed consistently amazing and they are continually upgrading the place. It has a fine dining feeling to it with a fun bar and sometimes life music. It is very comfortable and the staff is super friendly. Our friend who works next door witnesses fresh stock delivered to the store daily. This shows the quality of the food. Try their Cevapcici — Amazing Bosnian Sausage. The bread dip is to die for. Enjoy your fine dining experience, casually.

Nice place. Family atmosphere. I had the ribeye but wished I get the lamb or veal or anything else. Why, because all the other dishes looked so good. My steak was good but my wife’s stuffed veal was excellent. Deserts were home made and the coffees fresh.

Delicious! The best meal I have had in a very long time. My very picky son loved the schnitzel piccata, and I had the veal in mushroom sauce. Superior food. Excellent service. Will come back again!

I highly recommend this place! I came here for lunch on a Sunday. It was busy but not packed and we were seated right away. I started with the goulash cup and a glass of red wine from Macedonia. Our server brought out warm house made bread and some feta sour cream spread which was delicious. For lunch we split the stuffed veal schnitzel and cevapcici. Each item was cooked to perfection! This place is truly a hidden gem outside of DC.

The tilapia salad is my favorite dish on the menu, and Bosnian burger is becoming a close second. This place is awesome, great service!

I am a little late in writing my review of the Cosmopolitan Grill. I went for dinner with a group of friends on 10÷24÷15. It was a great dining experience. I wanted to make sure I made note of it on Unilocal. The menu is a little confusing. Cosmopolitan Grill offers a number of Eastern European and German dishes. My friend wanted to know why so she asked our waiter to explain. The owners of the Cosmopolitan Grill had to flee Serbia during the civil war and landed in Germany before coming to America(hence, the menu selections). Although the choices for vegetarians is somewhat limited I really enjoyed my vegetable sandwich(and it tasted fresh). The meatarians at the table all seemed to enjoy their dinners. Our waiter was also very good. If you’re looking for a fancy dinner, I’d look elsewhere. The ambiance of the restaurant is casual and comfortable. I really relish in the unpretentiousness of the Cosmopolitan Grill. In a nutshell, a great find for a casual dining experience on Route 1 in Alexandria, VA.

This place was great. Wait staff was very helpful and amazing. And their food. I love their schnitzel and spaetzle. Portions are definitely big. That little dip they give you also is great.

Good food. We had schnitzel with traditional spaetzle. I was disappointed we didn’t get brown gravy on the schnitzel. The portions were huge. We couldn’t eat it all. The salad that comes with the meal was a basic garden salad. The service was great and the atmosphere quaint.

A locally owned gem in South Alexandria serving delicious homemade Balkan food(think Germanic style). Everything here is delicious and affordable, from the home baked bread(similar to pita but thicker) to the excellent sausages. Watch out for the grease on the shnitzel, but you can’t go wrong with the sausages, called cevapcici in Croatian. The service is friendly and don’t be turned off by the exterior, the restaurant is in a small shopping center with a Gold’s Gym. Skip the froyo next door and stay at Cosmopolitan for the AMAZING Nutella crepes, which come in a huge portion.

Found this with the help of Unilocal.Learned from our table neighbors that this place has been around forever, first as a small vendor that turned into this successful restaurant. The food didn’t sound interesting but I was pleasantly surprised. The white sauce has great flavor and very unique(never had Croatian food before) And the Bosnian burger is more than a boring burger, the meat is flavorful and reminds me of donar kabob. Husband ordered the steak sandwich and it was full of mushrooms, onion and cheese, delish! So glad we found this place, we hope you enjoy it too! Pictures included.

Who knew there was a German food place down the road from me? Unilocal did! After being lazy and checking what was close by I saw this pop up and decided to give it a go. It was really close to the house(how did I miss this place?) but it was easy to find once I knew which shopping area it was in. It’s a little hidden from the road but if you see the Gold’s Gym you’ll find it(you might need a membership after all the cheese and cream in every dish). Once inside we were happy to see it looked clean and the sits were pretty big. There were also a lot of people eating there for lunch, just don’t expect any specials as they don’t have any. Our appetizer of mini sausages were yummy albeit a little greasy and the tomato sauce with it complimented the spices in the meat well. For our main dishes I went with the Bosnia burger and my bf got the wienerschnitzel. Both of our selections were made to order and tasted as such. I had to keep repeating no raw onions for everything as it seemed that and the sour cream are their go-to for quick flavor on any dish. It was a little pricey considering how small the menu choices were but maybe I’d try it out for dinner.
