If you’ve seen a party magician in the last 40 years, you’ve probably seen a lot of the same tricks. They’re standard classics that continue to dazzle kids, so all the magicians do them. What sets party magicians apart is the performance and delivery. Louis the Magician is one of the most entertaining performers I’ve seen, and his take on the classics make him a standout in a crowded field.
He performed at my 5-​year old son’s birthday party this weekend. He has constructed a show that not only amazed the kids, but had the grownups howling with laughter. He’s every bit as much an adult comedian as a children’s magician, and has managed to weave the two skills together in a seriously entertaining package. It’s a hard skill, and he’s mastered it in his writing and delivery.
Before his performance, a parent told me that she’s seen party magicians before, and that kids start to get bored, and she worried that a 45 minute show was much too long. The kids had just taken a train ride through the park, so they’d been sitting and hadn’t had a chance to run around yet. I was worried she was right. So I told Louis, «Look, these kids might be antsy and have a hard time sitting still. If you feel like you’re starting to lose them, you have my permission to wrap up early. I’m fine with that.» He told me, «It’ll never happen.» And he was right. The kids were so into the show, having such a good time, I think he could have gone another 15 minutes and they still would have been in rapture.
I could continue, but the bottom line is: I highly recommend Louis the Magician. Hire him for your party.

Louis the Magician performed a magic show for my son’s 1^st birthday on April 9^th. He had different packages that were reasonably priced and we chose the ultimate package which included a live animal (dove) and Louis making balloon animals for the kids.
It snowed the morning of my son’s party but Louis came on time and ready for us. But we were not ready for him. Not ready at all for his hilariously funny, engaging & super entertaining show for all of us. Yes, ALL of us. Including the adults.
I was expecting the kids to have fun, and they had a blast! But I was thrilled to see that all the parents and older kids/​teens and adults (myself and hubby included) have such a great time as well! Louis had the whole crowd eagerly anticipating his next moves, tricks and jokes. He is an outstanding performer and was such a big hit at my baby’s party!
We are so happy with his performance & everyone kept asking about him afterwards for future parties!

Louis the Magician gives one of the most entertaining and charming magic shows imaginable. He performed (for the second time) at our house December 28 before a mixed audience of 16 adults and 10 children, most of the latter under the age of 10. All had seen him the first time, but were just as enchanted this time.
What makes Louis special is a style that appeals equally to kids and adults: a unique delivery that appears to include mistakes, uncertainties, and downright errors that the kids love and adults enjoy – both on their own, and as they watch their kids react. Louis is perfectly competent at the magician part of the show, but his tricks are geared more to the comedy dimension of his performance, which makes it so much fun to watch. The show works well because he projects an air of vulnerability and self-​deprecation that keeps the kids riveted and eager to «expose» his apparent, but deliberate, vulnerabilities – an approach that is hilarious to both kids and adults. Louis’s low-​key delivery and feigned amateurism add to his charm. I would recommend Louis the Magician to all and sundry, but don’t just drop your kids off – give yourself a treat and stay for the show.

We hired Louis the Magician this past weekend for our son’s fourth birthday party. Louis was on time, well prepared, and highly entertaining. Before starting, Louis checked with us about the age range (4 – 9 year olds) and catered his show accordingly. His show was interactive and very funny. The kids were engaged and thoroughly entertained. I highly recommend Louis and would happily hire him again for other children.
