The hygiene and cleanliness of the office is terrible! The doctor did not wash the wound site before working on it nor solve the problem we came in for. They did not bandage the wound site afterwards. We had to see another doctor to have the wound appropriately cared treated.

This review is for the Falls Church APHC location. I visited this clinic in January 2014 to get bloodwork done. I was leaving the country within a week and needed testing done quickly. The Pros: I was seen within a reasonable amount of time. Anyone who’s ever visited an urgent care clinic knows that, even with an appointment, there’s waiting involved. The doctor was friendly, had a conversation with me, and didn’t rush through the appointment. The Cons: Everything else, particularly the way billing is handled. When I went in for my appointment, I gave my insurance card and was told the clinic accepted my insurance and the copay was $ 10. I paid, saw the doc, got my bloodwork done, and everything seemed fine. A couple weeks later, I got a bill from the clinic for $ 500 – the lab fee and the doctor visit. I called them immediately, but was told that the«billing department» is actually just one individual, and he doesn’t come in to the office until 4pm. So, I called back at 4 and was told he’d just«stepped out, try back in 20 minutes.» I did. Was then told that he’d left for the day. I had to call a half dozen times over three days to finally get a hold of this guy. To his credit, when I DID finally speak to him, he was patient, understanding, and willing to help. He spoke to my insurance carrier about the issue and it turned out that this particular clinic was out of my network and therefore I was denied coverage. I was able to finagle with insurance customer service to get them to cover the lab fee, which was the more expensive of the two, but they would not cover the doctor’s visit. After a couple more rounds with both clinic billing and my insurance, I settled on paying the clinic $ 95 for the doctor’s visit. However, the frustrating part is that this process took MONTHS. I visited the clinic in January and was STILL dealing with the payment issue in August. I was fed up. But after I paid the $ 95, I thought, Okay, this is done with now. NOPE. I was wrong. More than a YEAR after my visit I received another bill from the clinic, this time for $ 250. Of course I called immediately, and of course I was told to «call back at 4» by the rude receptionist. FINDANOTHERCLINIC. I’ve been to two other clinics since visiting this one and everything went smoothly. I don’t know what APHC’s problem is, but they certainly don’t value customer service or customer satisfaction. Save yourself the headache and hours on the phone and just visit a clinic that has its shit together.
