Andrea’s Pet Services

I have been using Andrea to watch my cat when I travel and my boyfriend’s dog for close to two years. Andrea and her staff are very accommodating and professional. She always goes the extra mile to make sure Bailey and Comet get what they need while I’m away. She is very knowledgeable about dogs and cats. I trust her completely with my fur babies.

Andrea and her staff take excellent care of our pets. She gives our dog her midday walks, and after only about a month our dog started walking better on leash. She’s also taken care of our two cats while we are on vacation (and one of them is a grumpy diabetic who needs shots twice a day!) We love Andrea’s Pet Services — they are caring, flexible, detail-​oriented, and willing to go above and beyond.

I just moved to the area and in my search for a dog walker, came across Andrea’s Pet Services. I spoke with Andrea on the phone and she seemed very knowledgeable about dogs and willing to work with my shift-​like schedule. We set up a meet and greet, and she and her dog walker (who would be the primary dog walker) came to my apartment. The meet and greet went very well and I was super impressed, but I told Andrea I had one other meet and greet scheduled for the next day before I could decide on which dog walker to use. She was very understanding and just said to let her know either way. I met the other dog walker and he seemed very nice, but was more expensive and I had just gotten such a good vibe from meeting Andrea as well as talking to a few of her references (them saying she was so «reliable»). So that evening, I called Andrea and told her I had decided to go with her company and she came over the next day to pick up the keys.
The day after Andrea picked up the keys, she came to my apartment to do the first of two walks that day. After remotely buzzing her into the building, she calls me less than 15 minutes later (I checked my cell phone recents) while I am at WORK and informs me that my dog is too scared to let Andrea near her, and is also apparently growling at Andrea and Andrea is afraid she will get bit.
(Now, full disclosure: my dog a couple years ago was being watched by a neighbor and when the neighbor tried to force my dog’s harness over her head, my dog bit through her lip and consequently bit the neighbor’s finger out of I can only imagine fear and pain. I had told Andrea about this incident when we spoke on the phone, but she seemed okay with it and during the meet and greet even was saying Gracie would be no problem because she was so calm.)
The next thing Andrea tells me is that maybe I should use the other dog walker because she doesn’t want to get bit and the primary dog walker is even less experienced than Andrea, so essentially Andrea isn’t willing to work with me or my dog at all. I explained that in my old apartment my former dog walker had to do a couple meet and greets and that my dog had actually acted the same way (without the growling) when he tried to do the first walk; so it was just a matter of working with my dog until she became comfortable with Andrea/​the primary dog walker. However, she refused to work with me and said that she couldn’t even get my dog back into the kitchen where she’s usually gated. I told Andrea to just lock up and leave the keys with the concierge. Fortunately my parents live in the area and were able to pick my dog up and take her to their place for the next few days.
I am so disappointed and frustrated that Andrea would agree to provide a service, then the minute something is less than perfect, immediately backed out. Not once did she apologize for her extremely unprofessional behavior nor for leaving me in the lurch while I was at work and could do nothing about it. Furthermore, besides the one exception, my dog has never been the slightest bit aggressive towards anyone, so if she was growling at Andrea, Andrea must have been doing something to antagonize her. In short, save yourself some heartbreak and being left in the lurch, and do not get sucked in by the other reviews.

I would absolutely recommend Andrea’s Pet Service. I previously tried other pet sitting services as I just didn’t like their policies and my cat was definitely not comfortable with any of their sitters. I called Andrea and was very impressed with how professional she is, loved the fact that this was a smaller business and not a huge pet company service (which makes me more comfortable letting her in my home) how she wasn’t afraid to get to know my cat. She recently added another sitter to help out and I can’t say enough how much I love both of them and how much I trust them both!

Always on time, flexible schedule. Really loves all animals and will treat yours with the love of her own. Reasonable rates. Highly recommended!
