Village Pizza

The food is good, but not exceptional. The buffet is a big hit with us because it’s affordable and has a lot of options for my daughter which can be tricky since she’s 2 ½. They put out several types of yummy pizza and you can request special combos to be placed on the buffet as well. The buffet includes breadsticks (both savory and sweet), salad bar, spaghetti with sauce, and cream of green chile chicken stew. Kids under 3 eat free with the purchase of an adult buffet (which I think was about $ 7.49 each). The specialty combo pizzas are pretty spicy, but are very tasty!

The pizza is so good! Probably The second best I have had in this town. I would give five stars just for the pizza. Order one of the combos. It came with a ton of green chile, meats, and veggies. I mean a ton of toppings! They have a great variety sodas as well. The only issue is the long wait. The waitress was nice and brought us free breadsticks though that was really cool. They came right before our pizza LOL. Anyway you have to be a little bit assertive with the waitstaff. If you don’t order right away they tend to forget you. Even if there are very few people there. So just get up and go find her. Place your order. Try it out!

LOVE Village Pizza in Corrales and was SO EXCITED to see one open closer to me. Same amazing pizza but with a different atmosphere altogether than the anchor restaurant in Corrales. The only downside is it’s a bit pricey for pizza. BUT IMHO by far the best pizza in ABQ.

Village Pizza serves the best pizza in the 505 and the waitstaff is always friendly! Their patio is a great place to relax with your family or to have a large gathering. In addition, they have a great local beer selection.
You wanna support local? No better place than Village Pizza!

Been a customer for years in corrales. I was very excited for this location but this place is unacceptable. I have now tried it four times just to make sure they were not having a bad day. The place has zero service as I usually wait for a teenager to stop texting in the back, greet me, and take my money. Buffett has been covered in flys, dirty plates on dirty tables. Been out of buffet punch cards since my first visit. I don’t know what is going on but the owners clearly do not value this location and neither do I.

Kids are running the place… and poorly. They don’t know their beer, service is non-​existent, and the sauce tastes like it’s out of a can. Local competitors on 4^th street sell a large pizza for 3 bucks less and it is way better.

Love this place. Classic American pizza done right, great ingredients that are fresh. They have great bread sticks and a fantastic beer menu. My wife and I love it and the kids do too. Great place to take the family or get take out of delivery. I heard they even have a killer green chile stew… Next time we will try it.

We didn’t want to cook tonight, again. My husband volunteered to drive down to Dions, but I am really getting bored with their half-​cooked doughy pizza and talked him into trying Village Pizza, which is kind of new to the neighborhood. I had their pies years and years ago in Corrales, and liked them well enough, so to the internet I went to see what the Village Pizza on Rio Grande had to offer. Wow! Calzones?
I’m a former Jersey Girl, and until now calzones had been an old friend in the past, having not found really good calzone in Burque yet. I don’t have to search any longer because this calzone was superb, (though this probably won’t stop me from my culinary quest). I ordered us a spinach, garlic and sausage calzone, with sauce on the side. It was big enough for two to share, so don’t order a whole one for yourself to eat in one sitting. The flavors were well melded and the pesto drizzle on the outside of the crust was delightful, even if it wasn’t a «Jersey» thing. Nice touch. Excellent taste.
I liked having the salad bar right by the counter, and really appreciate being able to build my own salad when I get there. Another nice touch for me, although It could be problematic if there are a lot of people in the front area. The ingredients were very fresh and I don’t know what the other reviewer meant by watery dressings, because all of them were thick and clingy on the salads. There is a good assortment of veggies and dressings. I didn’t find this salad bar lacking in any way.
The staff were very friendly and helpful, and even offered to put my calzone back in the oven to keep hot while I built our salad. That was nice, and showed they cared. The price was right too, as we both had a nice big dinner for about $ 17. Now I look forward to going back to experience their pizza and dining there at the restaurant. Beware of some of the bad reviews here. Especially when they say they used to come here when the kids were little. When was that? They have barely been here a year yet. Try it yourself.

Horrible service! Restaurant was dirty. I witnessed the waitress cleaning the salad bar and picking up food the dropped with her fingers and putting it back in its place… yuck! U can make a better pizza at home! We use to come here with our children when they were younger… place went down hill

Both myself and my date thought the pizza was as good as the original location. Lots of toppings, so much in fact I couldn’t see the cheese! Yay!
We sat down and the waitress brought us a little breadstick sample with a side of marinara AND offered to bring more if we wanted. We declined of course, knowing that we wanted to save the space in our stomachs for the main attraction. We opted for the carnivore combo with chicken. Sadly they were out of chicken (ok, that’s a strike!) but Amber offered to add another topping in its place, we just added more ground beef like the carnivores we are!
On tap beer selection is minimal, but we didn’t go for their beers.
I was skeptical after reading a number of negative reviews but was pleasantly surprised that the service was timely, friendly and mostly on point.
The only hitch of the night came when the bill arrived… the chicken on the carnivore is by request only, no mention on the menu of any additional charge. When the bill arrived there was a charge for the additional ground beef previously mentioned in lieu of the absent chicken. The ladies at the counter informed me it was an additional charge until Will came out from the kitchen and overheard our conversation in passing. He, in turn, corrected them; I assume because he knew it was in place of the missing chicken and not just an additional topping. The ladies were quick to correct my bill and had me on my way in no time.

They’re really getting their act together and the orders we have placed have been perfect so far. Good prices and good enough pizza. The whole wheat crust and calzones are also pretty good. It’s improved a lot since the first few months.

I was excited to try this place, as I have friends who enjoy it. I regret to say I was disappointed. First, we ordered at the counter and I ordered a beer. The server said there was no one there who could work the taps, and that he would find me when someone could. It never happened.
Second, the salad bar was fresh and had nice variety, but the dressings were surprisingly diluted and tasteless. They were runny to the point where they run off the lettuce and fill the bottom of the plate with white liquid.
Third (and worst), the pizza buffet was nearly empty when I returned. I walked up to get a plate of pizza, and there were two dried-​up slices in the whole buffet and disgruntled customers waiting. I stood there for several minutes, waiting for a server to replenish it, but eventually ran out of patience and got some soup instead. The soup was very good, but I was there for pizza. It’s disappointing to pay for a pizza buffet only for it to be out of pizza.
As I stood there, one customer in particular was quite angry and told me this happens all the time. He said the other location is much better about it.
In all fairness, the pizza was quite good. I would have liked to have had more, but the buffet being empty was kind of a deal breaker for me.

Three Strikes is all we could say tonight… and our pizza tasted Delicious.
We decided to stay in tonight and recalled that Village Pizza delivers. We love their ‘Special Favorite’ and added onions and a side of dipping marinara for our Large pizza.
The price of 31+ dollars was a bit alarming, but we decided with the delivery it was worth it. We were quoted 45 minutes for the order… which we felt was reasonable despite our hunger. We could have run over and picked it up, but afforded the luxury. About 30 minutes into our wait, we received a call that they were out of mushrooms and would we like another vegetable for a substitute. We couldn’t decide on one, so agreed to leave out the mushrooms (wondering how a pizza parlor could be out of mushrooms!) We also added that we were really hungry and anticipating the arrival of our pizza. We both busied ourselves while we waited. And a half an hour later I asked if the pizza arrived… and was told they called… and our phone was not handy… with the request for our address that was not taken at the time of the order. YIKES. So who knows how long it took to receive our $ 31+ pizza that was delivered without the marinara (three strikes) and was luke warm. We wish this establishment the BEST and look forward to music, a warmer atmosphere and tuned in management.

Excellent pizza with quality ingredients — just what the north valley needed! It’s in the old Johndi’s location. My fave pie is the Greg’s Albuquerque Magazine Combo. Also love the patio!

Well, it was weird while it lasted. Made my third visit with a friend last night, even though my orders, though not complex (selected from the menu and this is supposed to be a place that makes pizza for a living, right?) were gotten wrong each time I was there previously. We arrived and saw the nearly-​empty parking lot, which was a change. The hostess could not seat us right away because she apparently decided right then she had to go talk to the large number of young people milling around in the kitchen. We were eventually led to a table — and yes, we were the ONLY people there at 7:15 PM. Should have been enough of a warning to bail. At any rate, we ordered, asking for the addition of and exclusion of some items from my pizza, and for a list of items for my friend’s «build-​your-​own» or whatever it’s called. The waiter, who was nice enough, came by later several times to say he would check on our order — because it didn’t appear, and didn’t appear, and so on. Thirty-​five minutes or so after ordering, our pizzas arrived — wrong again. Heaped with stuff I asked to exclude, my additional item was instead on my friend’s pizza, and hers was missing a couple things she asked for. We answered honestly when asked if everything was okay and a young woman who came from the back and may have been a manager declared that we’d not have to pay for our meals. That was very kind of her, but we’d rather have gotten and paid for what we ordered. If the place had been jammed to the rafters, that would have been one thing. But the only other people seated were young guys we had seen earlier in the kitchen — perhaps delivery drivers? — and nobody else was seated while we were there, though I did see a couple people come in for food to take away. I was hoping this place would succeed, as that corner really needs a good follow-​on to Johdhi’s — but I fear for them if this is the best they can do. I will not return.

The pizza is good not great. For me having owned a pizza shop I like a pizza sauce that is not sweet. My kids love this place though and the all you can eat pizza buffet. The gluten free pizza is good but is the crust they buy from the distributor as it is the same as the other pizza shops in town. I will eat their pizza over most though there are a few I like better. Nice to have this place in the neighborhood and can’t wait till they have the beer and wine license.

Terrible, terrible, terrible. Got there at noon the place was already busy. Usually a good sign. But no. The cashier/​hostess (?) did not acknowledge my party of three when we walked in. After a couple of minutes standing in the doorway I had to ask her what the procedure was i.e., do we seat ourselves etc. She says «no you pay first». So I paid. While I was paying more than one customer came up to the counter bringing their dirty dishes. After I paid we proceeded to look for seating. The place is small and dank as has no real seating for large parties, in my case three. The two tables for four were all taken. The tables for two were dirty with dishes and leftover buffet. I went back to the cashier to ask for a refund, which she did not know how to do. She finally found someone who «cancelled» the debit card transaction. The money was still taken from my account. I have eaten at the Corrales location may times and was excited to see them in Albuquerque. My recomendation is that you take the time to drive across the river to the original location and avoid this one.

Good pizza great location

«Perfect,» I said aloud when I saw the sign «Village Pizza coming soon» in the window.
Well, I suppose my first reaction, upon realization that Paco’s was gone, was a gasp bordering on shock and obvious expectation. Paco’s International Smoked Cuisine tried valiantly and crafted some very interesting dishes, but the place never really caught on, and I can’t say I didn’t see it coming. It’s always a shame to watch a locally owned and operated business, built on the backs of some really terrific, hard working people, become another notch on the small business demise belt. More than half of ‘em don’t make it through the first year. Rest in peace, Paco’s, you were a great neighbor. That’s my eulogy, I suppose.
«Perfect. Village Pizza is an absolutely perfect place for this precise intersection, this neighborhood, these families. If they do anything remotely similar to the operation in Corrales, they’re gonna be a wild success,» I said to my wife. This working class area of the North Valley is absolutely starving for great local businesses, like coffee shops and bakeries, fun places to relax with kids or first dates or besties. Paco’s predecessor, Johndhi’s, knew this all too well when they closed doors. Most of us were losing a dear friend with great bluegrass, big buckets of lemonade and the thickest fries in town. There I go, reminiscing. Sorry.
Village Pizza does indeed bring something remotely similar to the Corrales location, precisely the same pie, actually. I can’t understand why I love these slices as much as I do, but I think it has to do with A) super foldable crust, B) stretchy, piled mozzarella and C) no skimping on the sauce. I could eat this everyday. Pair it with a minimal but acceptable salad bar, all for around $ 8 a person, and I’m there with my family regularly.
Get ready, Unilocal nation, the reviews that follow will all mention this issue: poor buffet placement. Unlike the Corrales location, this buffet is only accessible from one side, due to the strange decision to keep it in the same front room as the register. On a packed lunch hour, this setup makes for moments where you’ll be wondering why some other patrons don’t get with the program and hurry it up a little. You’ll find people just kinda hangin’ out, wondering if they really want sunflower seeds, or pepperoni, or whatever. It can be incredibly frustrating if you have an empty belly to fill. Alas, Burquenõs. Mañana, man.
