One word, pies! Pies are so awesome & they have quite the variety to pick from. I had the cherry pie, heated, with their homemade whipped cream on top, yum! One of my friends had their lemon pie that has a custard bottom. It’s one she’s had before & really liked. The other opted out, too full from his breakfast but has had the key lime pie in the past & would of ordered it again if he had the room. Breakfast was good. Our server Alfred had a great personality & he enjoyed serving us just as much as we enjoyed his service!

Excellent. Excellent. Excellent! Great service from the moment we walked in. Our server(Carlos) did an outstanding job making sure that we were happy and satisfied. Lars checked in on us and was very pleasant. All in all, we were so satisfied that we will make this a regular stop on our visits to ABQ.

We absolutely LOVEVI especially the one on San Mateo. My boyfriend and I have been proud regulars at this location for almost 5 years and we will continue coming to village inn until we are old and gray! The staff is phenomenal and always makes our visits amazing! It’s one thing when you go to a place so much that the staff starts to recognize you, but Charles(the manager) is now our friend and makes sure we are well taken care of! We love Linda and all of the other servers at VI! I’ve said it in my reviews before, but I am a picky eater and my boyfriend is even worse. Charles and the VI crew always take care of us! They have our order memorized(we literally get the same thing every time we visit) and they make sure it is made to our exact orders. Alex always gets the all world double cheeseburger and I always get the avocado chicken sandwich. They are THEBEST!!! Yum! My mouth is watering just thinking about it. They treat us like we are family there! The restaurant is always clean, the staff is incredible, the food always comes out on time, our drinks are always filled, and we always have a great experience every time we are there. We have been to other Village Inn’s around ABQ and in CO, but none of them compare to the hospitality of the San Mateo location. We will forever be proud VI regulars!

OMG! Can this location go ahead and go out of business already!!! My family visited here 10 years or so ago where the staff was rude, our order was wrong, our waitress quit in the middle of her shift and the manager refused to comp any of our meal. Fast forward to today, we were put on a wait list with 12+ tables open.(I know because I counted) short staffed? The people that came in after us were seated before us AND the people that were checked in BEFORE us! When we brought it to the managers attention he claimed that he didn’t have a table available for 4, yet he just sat those 2 people in a 4 person booth.. Then he claimed he hadn’t looked at the wait list and didn’t know that the 8 people that had been standing there waiting for 2 separate tables were even waiting. So he’s blind and stupid. Save your money. RUNFORYOURLIFE to someplace else to eat! Side note: we also visited the Village Inn on Wyoming and Menaul where after 15 minutes of listening to our waitress gab with her family sitting at the neighboring table told us that she would get us water after her«break» we upped and left there too. Management problem? I’m thing it’s a Corporate problem! Village Inn? Village Out!

Amazing customer service! Food was exactly what we wanted and made exactly how we ordered it! Waitstaff didn’t over bother and listened to what we wanted not what they wanted to give us. Only thing that sucked was it wasn’t Wednesday for free pie!

Don’t bother. Village Inn sent me a coupon for -$ 2.00 on a pie on Pie Day(good today only 3⁄14). Went to pick up an Apple Pie — either Country Apple or French Apple. Was told(at 2:30) that they were out of Apple Pie. I hate phony coupons and businesses that don’y want to honor them. You might want to avoid this place.

We were excited to order breakfast carry out from here when we saw the new items on the menu. But when we got it home, they had forgotten the main item in the dish! I ordered an egg skillet and they sent it without eggs!!! I ended up having to add my own at home, which totally defeated the purpose of carry out.

Best service I’ve had in a while. My server(Brittney) was prompt and polite. Did came out fast, and was made just the way I expected. My server checked on us regularly. I got to sit back and relax, even though I had toddlers with me.(Imagine that!)

I love Village Inn, they have the Best Pies and I really like that I can build my VIB any way I like it. The service is very friendly. I’ve been eating here since 1987.

My husband and I stopped in for dinner, huge mistake. While our food was good as always the service was bad as always. Couldn’t get our drinks refilled even once, waited quite a while for food, had to bus our own plates sat there for 20 minutes while trying to catch our waiters attention, then we couldn’t get the managers attention(Carlos) either as he strutted around the restaurant completely useless. Finally after almost 30 minutes to get a check or a refill we approached the register. I told Carlos what had happened he made excuses including the reason his server couldn’t serve is because he’s not very good at bringing refills… seriously I’m supposed to be okay with you wasting my time because you hire people who can’t blink and walk… why exactly is this my problem? then Carlos supplied another excuse about how they were busy, 6 tables including mine between 1 manager and 1 server… that’s «busy». when I told him we wouldn’t be back his only response was sorry to hear that. How can two people be so pitifully inept? it’s a shame too because my husband and I are very generous tippers. I’ll take my money elsewhere, anywhere else.

A free hotel breakfast would be an upgrade, no wonder few people were there at 7:30am on a Thursday morning. Menu says«want to cut calories? Order cholesterol free egg substitute» with your potatoes, cheese, bacon, etc. The entire experience is insulting. Go somewhere else!

We waited 25 minutes for our food and they messed up the order. Obviously no gravy or butter on toast is *so* hard to get right. We were pressed on time so we couldn’t wait another 25 minutes for them to attempt to get it right the second time so someone had to go without breakfast. Great job. Thanks for messing up breakfast!

There aren’t many 24-hour places in ABQ, so it was much appreciated that this Village Inn was alive and kicking at 11:30PM at night on our first day of arrival. We were starved because American Airlines is way too broke to provide a bag of pretzels, so at that point we were kind of han-gry(hungry + angry)! We drove off in our Avis rental car and lo and behold was this Village Inn close to the Sunport airport like a food mecca for late travelers like us. We were more than happy to have dropped in for a quick and satisfying meal. This Village Inn is spacious and clean, and the service is friendly and speedy. I had the most delicious Garden Veggie Omelette which comes with a side of fruit and get this… pancakes( )! That is unheard of, at least to a New Yorker, that if she wants pancakes with her omelette, would have to have ordered it separately for sure. My fiancé ordered this juicy-looking burger, and we were both really happy with the food and overall experience here. They are apparently famous for their pies, so we had to indulge, of course. We had a slice of pumpkin pie, and though no revelations were made, it was a pretty decent slice of pie. Perfect for the season. The prices at the Village Inn are very reasonable. I was stunned that my omelette meal came with the fruit and the pancakes. I can’t recall, but I want to say that was under $ 10?! Can’t really ask for more. If I’m ever going to Albuquerque ever again, I am absolutely going back to this Village(Inn).

I have to say that I didn’t used to like Village Inn but I have taken a liking to it over these past many months. I consistently eat here with my father and we always have had good service and food. They cook your meal to order, there is rarely a wait and the waitstaff are professional, friendly and competent. If you want a nice meal, not expensive with lots of choices, I would recommend this place.

Walked in at 6PM today to hopefully find half a key lime and half a cherry pie. The parking lot was not full, so no challenges there. On entering the restaurant, I observed 1 man waiting at the register and his wife seated near the entry to the dining room. I looked in the display to see what pies were available, and ascertained that a full cherry would be what is going home unless there are more done in the kitchen. Another hopeful diner entered the restaurant. He stood at the Please wait to be seated sign. The restaurant had 8 – 12 customers at 6 tables seated. So far, 3 minutes have passed. The busperson comes out of the back, and heads towards the hostess station, only to stop and direct his attention to someone sitting at a table in the rear of the restaurant. As he is headed toward the table in the far corner, the person at the table raises his left hand and waves the bus person away, as he continues his conversation on the cellphone in his right hand. The busperson raises his hands and shoulders in question, then turns and heads toward the hostess station. From the left kitchen entry, a waitress with a tray, plates, food and a tray stand approaches a table near the middle of the restaurant. The busperson hands the waiting diner a menu, then turns and starts to lead the diner to a table toward the left. Laura, the dining room manager, meanwhile, has entered from the right entrance to the kitchen. She heads toward the busperson and redirects them to seat the latest diner on the right side of the dining room. Laura proceeds to the lobby and asks who is first. I nod to the patron waiting to pay out on their check. It has been nearly 6 minutes now, and the guy in the back left is still talking on the cellphone and ignoring the dining room. Once Laura has settled the bill for the previous customer and taken a phone call, she asks what I would like. I ask if there is a Key Lime pie available. She heads toward the kitchen, calling back over her shoulder, «Honey, I will go check.» Laura returns from the kitchen to advise me that there are no Key Lime pies available, I ask her to pack up the cherry pie I see. She starts to pack up the cherry pie. The telephone rings. After she answers, I ask who the man in the rear corner of the restaurant is, the one on the cellphone. She says that is the Store Manager. Laura packed up my pie(after taking another phone call and not washing her hands after putting the phone down). I brought the pie home, tho cannot steel myself to partake in a slice. Between Laura and not washing her hands/regloving before processing the contact with my order and the manager who would rather sit and chat rather than help his employees provide customers with outstanding service, it is not difficult to state that I will go to Coco’s for my fresh cake and pie options as opposed to Village Inn.

I’m ashamed to say how much I like the Huevos Rancheros here. I know it might not be super authentic or healthy, but gosh darn it it’s yummy! I think what makes it stand out from the rest is the hash browns used. I’m such a sucker for the grated hash browns at breakfast! I commend the late night staff for dealing with all the drunks who are in here to sober up.

My boyfriend and I were looking for a sit down place that was cheap and near by and open at 9:30, so we headed to Village Inn. We were seated quickly. Our server had to have been the nicest, most normal waiters I’ve been served by at an all night breakfast place(usually such a colorful bunch). Everyone in the dining room was spread out so the weirder patrons and the normal people all had comfortable distance. Their dining room is overwhelmingly tan. It dates the place a lot, which I think detracts from the atmosphere. I had the strawberry creeps. They always please, but the bacon tastes like the kind that’s ready made that you can nuke in the microwave. My boyfriend had the Bacon and Cheese Skilled. It was unremarkable. Overall it was a pleasant place to catch late evening breakfast.

Not sure what happened, but my last visit to this location was very disappointing. First of all, they had many people in line, and no one to take names. I even saw the assistant manager direct a lingering employee to assist incoming customers. I also witnessed the cashier incorrectly split a bill between just two customers. If you can’t do the math in your head, use a calculator… just saying… The omelet was under-seasoned and had no flavor. I’ve had the same order at another location and was perfect. This time, it turned out to be a huge disappointment. I am also vegetarian, and I asked for a side of green chili, which I had gotten in the past. Just green chili, nothing else. Instead, they gave me green chili stew with meat and potatoes, which was not what I had asked for. Maybe I went in on a bad day, but being busy should not result in bad food and less than acceptable service.

My friend and I used to go to the location on Juan Tabo for lunch. They would give you a free slice of pie if the server didn’t ask if you wanted to buy one and there was one server that NEVER asked. So we always got free pie. Yes, we took advantage of her. We were bad. Our office moved and we started going to this location. We quickly started calling it «Deliverance Inn» because the people that worked there were SO weird. Eventually we quit going all together. Today I had a craving for pancakes. My ex-boyfriend makes the best pancakes and since he’s in Kuwait I needed a substitute. So I trekked over to Village Inn. They have clearly had some management changes at this location. The people that work there are insanely nice now. So insanely nice that I questioned whether a couple of them might actually be insane. It’s better than them just being super weird. Am I supposed to talk about food? I think so. Had the two egg(over medium) breakfast with hash browns(extra crispy) and pancakes. Everything was perfectly cooked and the pancakes did the trick. Now they do free pie all day on Wednesday so you don’t have to take advantage of someone to get free pie.
