I can’t say I’ve been a «Toys R Us» kid since the 1980s, but I’ve seen this chain in the ups-and-downs in the decades since. Right now, instead of pushing generic garbage toys from China, the store is factionalized worse than the Middle East — the«neighborhoods» are as follows: — Disneyville, with everything Frozen, Princess-y, but lacking in the B&W mouse — Lego-land, where«everything is awesome… ly expensive» — Hot-Tires and Flintbox Cars — And Doll/Toy soldier/Mutant Reptile action-figures(I don’t know what’s popular this year… turtles, terrorists or twirling ballerinas The selection is good, if the characters fall into the ‘hoods listed above. The game aisle is okay, and other random toys will keep you busy searching(or let your kids’ heads explode) The chain is not my first stop when I think of primary toy gifts, but is good for filler. The customer service reps(aka employees) are big on pushing the Chain Discount card(«Its free…»), the credit card… I was surprised they weren’t pushing batteries.

I’m not sure why this TRU is getting such bad reviews although most are from years ago. I’ve been going here since the 90’s at first for myself and now for my kids(and me) and I’ve never had issues. There are constantly people in red shirts walking around if you need any help finding anything. The shelves are typically well stocked and the variety is usually pretty good. I will say the prices at TRU are higher than other places but they also run sales and if you’re smart about how you buy you can typically get things as cheap or cheaper than you can on Amazon. Shop the sales and stock up for birthdays/holidays and you’ll do fine. I tend to wait for the BOGO50% off sales and buy two like products which works out to 25% off. Obviously you need to watch prices elsewhere if you’re frugal but deals can be had. Last year we got the kids backpack and lunch bags for 10 – 15 a piece which is far less than mall prices.

Great variety of toys. I actually went to buy toddler clothes. They used to carry a lot more in that department. I had trouble finding what I wanted and left disappointed. The store itself could use a little maintenance. Cashiers are friendly.

Apart from pushing the extended warranty on anything electrical that you buy,(which I’m sure the management force them to do) staff were helpful and pleasant. Prices seem comparable to other stores in the area. The store is worth a visit if you need something quickly and can’t wait for online delivery.
