Kudos to this very honest business owner! Others in the past have taken care of my computer needs, which leaves me vulnerable to those who want to take advantage of my lack of knowledge. I thought I needed to purchase and have installed more memory in my laptop. The owner kindly explained the difference between harddrive and memory and told me I didn’t need more memory. He also let me know that when I install the next level of Mac OS software that there was a good chance that my laptop would speed up a little. I appreciate his kindness, patience and honesty and will definitely return with any of my computer needs.

My backup drive broke while I was moving– you always have one sacrifice to the moving gods. With the expense and time of moving I thought, «I can replace it next month.» I’m sure you know what happens next. I’m in the middle of a Netflix movie and my laptop suddenly goes dark, then shows only a picture of a file. Mood sinks, heart breaks… «Don’t panic yet, Levi,» I tell myself, «you may be stupid, but you are often lucky. Besides, it’s a Mac, what is the worst that could happen?» I take it to the Apple store at Uptown. Exactly like every other time I’ve been there, they tell me I’m JUSTDAYS out of warranty(I’m on my fifth iPod, those glitchy little… aren’t these supposed to be better than PCs?). They will take a look though, after a lot of sitting and waiting, and let me know. The staff at the genius bar are unconcerned, being geniuses and so hip and all. They get my hopes WAY up. The bad news is semi-expected, but still comes like a punch to the chest: it’s all gone. Hard drive failure. They don’t think they can do anything, and they won’t try. Baby pictures, love letters, portfolio, countless photos and songs and invoices and and and… my life… gone, they say. I could try going to a private company, they suggest, and for thousands of dollars they might be able to find tiny bits of things. I could buy a new laptop for that. They offer to put in a new hard drive and OS, also for the cost of a new laptop. I’m too much in shock to consider it; it’s like being told to pull the plug on a family member. Sorry, they say, and call out for the next customer. I go home to sulk and pout. I use my cell phone to get online and rant and whine(ranting is so much easier from a laptop… sigh). And someone tells me to try TechsRx. So I go down and drop the laptop off with my sob story, and they say they’ll be in touch. I’m expecting little beyond a quote for a new hard drive. I try to let it go, I vow to move on. In the meantime, Apple starts emailing me telling me to come pick up the hard drive they ordered that I did not agree to, and that I should pay them hundreds of dollars. Then I get a call. TechsRx got it. Not just bits, but almost the ENTIRETYOFIT. Minus a few programs, but practically every file– gig after gig of irreplaceable stuff. When I go in to pick it up it works like new. Better even. It’s been cleaned. New OS. Files put back on. They had replaced parts that had been recalled. I want to stress that: APPLEEMAILEDMETWICE A DAYFORYEARSTRYINGTOSELLMETHINGS, WHILENOTEVENBOTHERINGTOEMAILMEABOUTCRITICALRECALLEDPARTSINMYREGISTERED, CASH-BOUGHTBRANDNEWLAPTOP! These guys at TechsRx ordered and installed the parts at no charge and made Apple pay to fix things they had refused to even attempt to fix that broke because of their fault in the first place! I can’t even make that sentence run-on long enough to convey the sheer absurdity, or the incredulous response I had. To sum up: faster, cheaper, friendlier, more thorough, cleaner, more stable from TechsRX. They didn’t make me feel like an idiot(even though I am), or try to upsell me or threaten me. «Genius bar?» My Aunt Fanny. I’m writing this review from the same laptop, quickly and pristinely. TechsRx has a customer for life, right here. I’m going to post this exact review, minus the stars, on the Apple store page!
