Waitress and manager would not serve beer to my 63 year old friend. This is not required by law. We will not be back.

Will not be going back. Decided to try a new spot for some sushi. I guess I picked the wrong spot. I went on a Friday at dinner rush, so it was busy, and the service was actually pretty good aside from one server who forgot a water that we asked for and was kinda rude. No biggie, let’s get some sushi. As I was looking through the menu, I noticed that half of the rolls had no description. Every place is different, so ordering a New Mexico roll could vary from place to place. It was a crapshoot, not sure if I was getting eel or tuna or whatever. Not good. So we ordered mostly from the pricier specialty roll menu, as we could see what was in it. Soup was tasty as we were waiting. This restaurant is kinda tiny, which is fine, but they cram so many tables in there that it gets cozy. At one point a waiters butt was all in my friends face type of cozy. Whatever, bring on the sushi. But wait… I look down at my small plate that I plan on eating off of, and it’s dirty as hell. I wipe it off with my napkin but the scum is strong, so I have to ask for another. The sushi comes to the table, and I dig in. In a word, the sushi is underwhelming. Stay away from the Sushi Xuan roll(the signature roll!), it tasted like I would imagine cat food would taste. The new mexico roll was kinda good, good on me for gambling. Spicy tuna was ok. The rest, meh. They asked me if I wanted to take leftovers home, I said no, which they scoffed at. At least the check came fast. Will not be revisiting. Do yourself a favor and check out some place else if your looking for a new spot.

Second time here. Tried Santa Amazing roll and Korean Spicy Chicken for second time. Both dishes were incredible. This place is for sushi lovers and stir fry lovers alike. Even at 3:30 pm on a Saturday the place is busy so be aware of peak times. If you don’t find a dish that both looks and tastes awesome you aren’t trying very hard. This place rocks!

My 100th review! Tried this place on a recommendation. When I lived in Houston I enjoyed sushi nearly every weekend. It has been a long year of very little sushi. But I found this place to be very good and could be a new regular thing for me. I still prefer the unagi sauce from Htown. But check this place out if sushi is on your list. Think you wont be disappointed.

This is a fantastic sushi restaurant. We have been going here for the past 5 years and it never lets us down. Even after the coors location burned down, they brought back the same great taste and service at the tramway location. Eric is our favorite server and the lady in red is our favorite roll. We always get the tuna and yellowtail sashimi, great quality food. We can’t wait for the new west side location! Oh and the monkey balls are to die for.

I’m interested to see what the rest of the menu entails. If you are used to the Wasabi bento box, you will sadly be disappointed. As their’s does not contain all that Wasabi’s did(big sad face). The ginger salad dressing is DELICIOUS! I will return just for the dressing! The bento box was still good including steamed rice(with option of fried rice as a replacement for an up charge) and vegetable tempura. Which was very greasy as any other place you would order it. I ordered the orange chicken and would give it an OK rating. Like I said above I’m interested in the rest of the menu before making any final judgement.

Sushi Xuan is one of the better sushi restaurants in Albuquerque. The staff is very attentive and the new location is spacious and clean. The sushi bar is always a nice place to sit and become mesmerized by the chefs skills. Make sure to check-in and get your free edamame! The chefs special was definitely delicious! The Out of Control Roll is a must have! The Santa Amazing was pretty good. Next time I don’t think I will get the Monkey Roll, the salmon and cream cheese being warm and mushy was not something my palate enjoyed. The Fore Fire Roll has a nice surprise of heat and flavor. If you like Uni(sea urchin) then definitely take a bite out of theirs! But Uni is only for the serious sushi eaters so save some for the rest of us!

This is a fantastic restaurant! We tried the Tokyo Chicken and it was amazing — perfect mixture of spices and so tender! The sushi rolls were delicious, as well. We didn’t go there intending to take advantage of Happy Hour, but found out that there is, indeed, a discount on rolls at that time. This was the best sushi I’ve had in a long time, and we’ll definitely be coming back again!

I was devastated when the old location burned down(I work on the westside). We finally made it to the NE to try out the new location. A few things were off; confused wait staff, seemingly nonsensical seating, but upon the arrival of our food, nothing else mattered. This is why we come to Sushi Xuan. Hands down, the best sushi in town. Still. We will be coming back, definitely, assuming once they are settled into their new place and operating as they were. Lacking one star because their service just isn’t ‘there’ yet.

Delicious! I got the shrimp tempura Bento box and my boyfriend the Tokyo bento box. I got the miso soup. It was lukewarm, probably from the server taking awhile to bring it. But it was very good, nice big pieces of seaweed, tofu, and fresh onion. My boyfriend had the egg drop soup and said it was very good. The shrimp tempura was excellent, rice cooked perfectly, veggie tempura delicious, and salad had a freshly made dressing. My boyfriend chicken was moist, fresh, and tasty. Overall great!

We came to Wasabi and this place was here instead, so we thought we’d give it a try. YUCK! Food was horrible, very disappointing. I ordered the bento box(beef) and the salad dressing was not good, the beef was fatty and crispy. The waitor came by and asked me how everything was, I told him I did not like the salad dressing and he said«oh well sorry» and walked away. When he came back I told him I did not like my meal and asked if he would plz remove from my ticket. He said he couldn’t do that and I would have to order something else. The staff was giving me looks so I didn’t want to order another meal and have them spit on my food or something so I ordered a rainbow roll. WOW I could not believe my eyes, gross the roll looked disgusting, not fresh at all. I guess I made them mad and they decided to give me the worst pieces. We WILLNOTBEBACK!!! I feel the least they could have done was try and accommodate but nope!

Yuuuuummmm! We came here for dinner on our road trip to Alabama from Los Angeles! Service was excellent! It wasn’t terribly busy, but let’s be real… It was a Monday night. So there were two servers. Both were very sweet and welcoming and worked together over the whole place serving say 10 people– something I don’t often see at restaurants. They were very attentive without being annoying, so A+++ for service! Now the food. I had the egg drop soup and let me tell you– it was fabulous! I don’t say this lightly– it was the best I have ever had. Something about the broth, thick and tasty! My husband and I shared the Lady in Red Roll, Air Force, Eel and Cucumber, and the Angel Hair roll! Yum! Lady in Red: very«New Mexican»(says the California people) with perfect amount of spices and chili. Air Force: crab on top was a treat! Angel Hair: the crunch was delicious. Eel and Cucumber: pretty standard! Since we are passing through, probably won’t get a chance to come back– but you should!

Definitely had to give a new sushi place in ABQ a try, right? Interior wise: it had a cozy environment that was warm & welcoming. Staff wise: they were really nice but kind of all over the place. Food wise: beautifully displayed but the rolls kind of fell apart upon laying chopsticks on it. Went in for the first time last night to give it a try & I don’t know if I’m either disappointed or satisfied. Yes, I understand that dinner time is prob their most busiest time with the rush. but, it took my friend & I about 30min until we got our 3 sushi rolls. Also, there wasn’t really 1 particular server that took care of us – I’m sure it was like at least 3 or something like that. I might give this place another try in the near future, but I’m definitely coming at a different time to beat the rush.

I have been here a couple times with my mom and I must say each time I have been very satisfied. We usually have the egg drop soup, Gyoza, shrimp tempura, and lady in red roll, which are very delicious. It makes me sad to see people on Unilocal ridiculing this place and comparing it to the very bland former restaurant(Wasabi), but I guess you can’t satisfy everyone. If you’re in the neighborhood you should give them a try.

We stopped here as it was close to the RV park where we overnighted. We are not into Sushi but thought we would give it a try. The egg drop soup was excellent, hearty and so good on a cold night. I had the orange chicken made with Breast meat. It was one of the Orange chicken dishes I have had in quite a while. My wife had the japaleno shrimp which was excellent with quite a kick. Overall, an excellent dinner with very attentive service. We would certainly recommend this restarant.

I really, really wanted to like this place. I loved Wasabi(RIP). However, Sushi Xuan is probably the worst sushi I’ve ever had. Not just flavor and texture-wise but also something just off about the fish(like: I’m-really-glad-I-went-home-immediately-due-to-stomach-cramps bad). I can count how many times food has done that to me on one hand– I don’t have a sensitive stomach at all so I KNOW something was not right(and sort of had a feeling immediately). Travel’en C. described the off flavor perfectly– I don’t know if it’s the fish, the sushi rice, or what but it’s no bueno. The rolls were bland, our table didn’t even finish them(which is UNHEARD of). The place was packed and I really can’t figure out why or how the reviews are so good. I had the egg drop soup and it was ok but probably one of the weirder egg drop soups I’ve had. It was thick– like there was too much corn starch or something weird added. It was sort of bland on top of it. The service was also bad. There was one lady(presumably the owner?) just wandering around doing a lot of nothing(can’t even refill a water glass I was trying to flag someone down to top off for 15 minutes?). The staff were mostly pretty friendly but everything took forever(which is probably not the waiter’s fault). It was very apparent that everything was super disorganized and chaotic. The waiter’s were trying but there’s only so much they can do when they’re so understaffed. Normally I will give places a 2nd try but there’s so much better sushi and Asian food in ABQ, I think I’ll skip the side of food poisoning next time.

«Frances Y»…you couldn’t be more right! Traveled quite a ways to try this place tonight and like you, I too really wanted to like this place. Walked in… and the tables where the patrons were sitting were the only clean tables available. I couldn’t believe how disheveled they seemed. We had an assortment of their signature rolls, five that came out to about $ 65. And Just like Frances had already commented on, there was a very peculiar and consistently odd flavor. I don’t think it was sesame oil, but I do think it was something in their sushi rice that gave off that peculiar flavor… sweet and vinegary… odd. That said, I still felt the sushi all tastes the same. I’m a bit perplexed as to the reviews on here fellow Unilocalers. Hell, auzuma is better and that’s food court sushi. That place down on Juan Tabo is much better. It’s cleaner, more organized and most importantly, the product taste better. My favorite sushi is still down off of central and 6th — Sushi Hana — you can’t beat their happy hour(which is served both at lunch and before 7:00). Plus they simply have a better/more creative menu. I do feel bad — I really wanted to like this place but I won’t be back — again, I’m sorry.

Excellent new sushi restaurant in NEABQ. They’ve done a nice job redecorating what used to be Wasabi. I was very sad to see Wasabi go, and am delighted to find that a replacement. Got the ceviche roll and a coffee chicken bento box. The ceviche roll was absolutely amazing, some of the best I’ve ever had. The coffee chicken was perfect.

Why oh why is everything drenched in sesame oil… We ordered 2 rolls, 4 types of nigiri, 2 types of sashimi and 1 hand roll, most of them drenched in sesame oil, over powering any taste of the fish. Service was attentive but forgetful, didn’t get my water refilled at all or bring my side of ginger I asked for. Disappointed due to all the high reviews. If I come back, maybe I’ll try the cooked food.

Always game for new Asian cuisine… came highly recommended by my dining partner. Though I’d originally planned on having sushi rolls for lunch, opted to order their Korean beef entrée. Beautifully tender beef, sliced onions and a very flavorful sauce… slightly spicy-sweet. The blend of flavors was really really good! Did I say really good? EXTRA good. Did get to try my friend’s Cali rolls. Also decent. Their sushi rolls menu is quite extensive and very creative. Not run-of-the-mill roll choices. Prices are good and service with a smile was excellent!

The sushi here is delicious I have the SAMS special which is basically the chef’s choice and it was delicious. We also had the gyoza which was actually the pan seared type which I have always preferred to the deep fried type. Very pleased to find that out. The dipping sauce was very good for it as well. We had a whole bunch of sushi beyond the chefs choice. The whole meal was really good. The service was impeccable. We had two different people actually making sure that we were OK and that our drinks were full. The whole feel of the restaurant has changed since the location used to be Wasabi. It looks like it’s not very classy from the outside but from the inside I definitely felt under dressed and I was still in my business clothing. Wait staff is all dressed up. But they did not seem to mind that we were not dressed up. Be prepared to sink a fairly large amount of money into this meal though. As it is not a cheap place to eat but no sushi is ever cheap right? Especially when you want quality and this stuff is quality. Definitely going to come back.
