For our five day stay at this hotel the promised«Superstart» breakfast consisted only of cold cereal, packets of instant oatmeal and bread. Rachel, the front desk clerk, told another couple who asked about the waffle maker that it could not be used because«it sticks.» The day we checked out of the hotel Rachel made a point of telling me the waffle maker was working. She said they had to have a guy come out and look at it. The machine was not working as of breakfast on Christmas morning and I find it unlikely anyone came out to repair the sticking waffle iron on Christmas day or before 7:00 a.m. on the 26th. Our stay at the Super 8 which began with Rachel lying about having no refrigerators in the entire hotel(see the review of Steve S.) ended with the same rude indifferent service and lies from Rachel. If you decide to stay here, make sure you have refundable reservations.

This is more about the poor service Rachel the front desk clerk gave us today rather than that hotel. We asked to move rooms right after we checked in because we wanted a refrigerator. Rachel said none of the rooms had a refrigerator in this hotel. We asked another helpful front desk clerk after Rachel had left for the day and we got a room with the requested refrigerator that didn’t exist 2 hours prior. I have a photo of this mysterious refrigerator as proof of it’s existence!

Good location and plenty of parking. Gas station and fast food places nearby which made it a very convenient road trip stop. Bed was caving into the middle a bit but not too bad. Shower was clean and bathroom was clean. Overall a good stay.

Our stay here was fairly reasonable and I don’t have too much to complain about. The beds were alright, the room was clean, and the overall atmosphere was relaxed. My few complaints are: The elevator was horrible, it seemed like we had to wait for it on the main floor(of a 3 floor area) for awhile– we had to push the button twice to get the doors to open. Once inside we figured it would work fine, we were headed to the second floor. After the elevator went up to the second floor it hesitated for a good 30seconds before the door opened. After that we decided we would only use the stairs. Though the room was clean, the blanket had a cigarette burn hole in it right at the top by our faces and one of the chairs that was in the room had a broken cross bat by the legs. Yes, that wasn’t too much of an issue but I don’t want to be blamed for it, but when I told the front desk about it they blew it off like it didn’t matter-so who am I to care. The breakfast was alright. The selection of items was a bit slim, and I could not find tongs for toast, so I did not make any. I was pretty disappointed in the waffle I made– the batter tasted a bit off and I felt like the waffle iron cooked it too much. My husband had cereal and juice, the juice machine out some specs or flakes of something into the cup, so when he noticed that he stopped drinking it.

I booked this months prior to my visit due to its ridiculously low rate — $ 42 all inclusive. Decent reviews too. And I never thought about it again until I was driving through town on Central Avenue, looking at all of these vintage Route 66 hotels, and thinking, «I could have probably paid the same rate and stayed at a place with a lot more character.» Oh well. Not that I had any problems with this place. Really convenient to Petroglyph National Monument, my first morning destination. Well, it’s really convenient everywhere — Albuquerque has a generally clustered tourist area. The room was fine, and the WiFi functioned. Breakfast was the weakest moment in 6 days on the road in the Southwest(Special K), but it is a Super 8 after all. I wouldn’t have any problem staying here again, but I’d make sure to scout some Central Ave spots first.
