We’ve been coming to this dog park for a few years, now. My Pointer, Basil is seven years old & loves to play with other energetic dogs, who often frequent this park. But, even when he’s the only dog he loves to roam around, sniffing & drinking from various water buckets. There are plenty of shade trees, benches & chairs for human socializing, as well. As far as ratings go, I don’t see any reason to subtract stars from this adequate dog park.

Nice dog park! Has water, buckets, grass, shavings and a nice turf area for the dogs to run across. Also a small pool which my pup loved to recline in when he was too hot. Chairs for people to sit in around the edges and plenty of parking. Overall, a nice park for the pups to play!

I’m sitting in this park as I write this review. It’s 9:06pm and my two dogs are enjoying having free range of the park. This park is open from 6 am to 10pm and is lighted for when it is dark. There are buckets here for the dogs to drink out of and a water spout. There is a combo of turf, wood chips and dirt and has a good amount of trees throughout. There are some benches and plastic patio chairs to sit on for the humans or the dogs who think they are human. I’m pretty impressed and will be back. Also I just heard the seals over at the zoo. Pretty great!!!

This park is owned by a wolfhound, a wolfhound bloodhound mix, a wolf mix, a smattering of albuquerque black dogs and albuquerque browns. Several chihuahua mixes and scotties are also known to be exceedingly friendly. The Rio Grande Park, AKA Triangle Park, AKA Zoo Park, is your average dog park. Although it is divided into two fenced off sections, one for large dogs and one for small, most people put their dogs in the larger area since it offers more room. There are a few benches, a walking trail, and locals donate an assortment of plastic chairs to sit on where they can then discuss the news of the day(discussions can get heated, but rarely last overnight). I regularly walk the bosque and use this the before/after watering spot. Though I don’t want to get into the anthropology of dog parks, you will need to get to know some rules, less be ostracized by the long time dog park residents. Morning dog park people tend to me more active and chipper while the after work crowd is a bit mor surly. Both are friendly but the ice needs to be broken. A big dog helps, as does mentioning that your dog has received all of the prerequisite shots AND has been spayed or neutered(the afternoon crowd didn’t lay off me until I told them I have an appointment.). Both crowds make a great knowledge base about all things dogs. Have a question about training… they have the answer, or at least a useful suggestion. Need to know about a dog injury, they have probably seen it and know the first aid. As a general precaution, do not take your dog unless it has all of its vaccinations and is old enough since parvo is very active in the area. Enjoy!
