I searched hi and low to find a place that sold smaller aspen trees because purchasing 1 big tree for over $ 100 was not only cost prohibitive but also a logistical conundrum. And then I found this place. Their staff was ver knowledgable. And they sell 1 gallon containers so I could buy 10 trees and put them in my jeep for the price of one at other places. Yay! So happy.

Even though they didn’t have what I was looking for, service was fantastic. The plants were all so lively and beautiful!

Adam was extremely nice to me explaining the basics of desert gardening. Have me a lot of tips. Absolutely no pressure. Just good information about how when which and where to plant and grow! The garden and selection are huge. Very good store.

This place is great! We’d been shopping for some climbing roses that would work well for ABQ climate(no luck at the large retail locations or another local nursery further North on 4th. We are novices, and don’t know much, but Plants of the Southwest makes it easy for you. The place was beautifully arranged and we did not have trouble finding what we were looking for. Very clean as well and in a nice location. You will find what you are looking for here.

Love, love, love this nursery. Helpful, friendly and knowledgeable staff. Wes, the manager, is the best. Prices are reasonable. Plants, shrubs, trees are suitable for our dry desert environment. Seeds, fertilizers, books, special events too. Check out the beehive in the back. It’s my favorite nursery in Albuquerque.

They specialize in native and adaptable plants, and have good selection of cacti, yucca(including giant and tree yucca), cholla, and ocotillo.

Great place to buy plants that actually will live in Albuquerque. The staff was very knowledgeable and was able to explain the care for all of the plants. The options are very focused on drought tolerant plants that like lots of sun. Prices were about the same as other specialty garden stores in Albuquerque but more than at Lowes or Home Depot. The difference is the knowledge and the fact that the plans you buy here will probably live without too much attention.

Wanna go local and have a super duper bright and shiny garden to boot? Get your plants and trees from these guys. When I moved to the southwest I naively assumed that the stuff sold at the big home and garden stores would work fine for my little green patch of heaven. Boy, did I have a lot to learn(and spend). I lost so many high water-use plants I shudder at the amount of sweat, tears and cash were wasted over the years. Then I found these guys. The staff here know pretty much everything and if they don’t, they’ll point you in the right direction. The majority of the plants I’ve bought over the years were totally alien to me: big purplish flowered round things; sage green spiny yellows; desert brush; wandering ground cover with ruby cups of joy. The vast majority of these plants now thrive in my backyard and wow my family and friends.(Don’t tell anyone, but I didn’t know what I was doing back then.) True, prices are often steep. My advice is to buy small whenever possible, because most of them will survive if you give ‘em some love and when you lose one you’re only out a few bucks. Utilize the helpful staff to get exactly what you need. Consider covering your weedy spaces with some of their xeric ground mixes. Support your local green thumb.

Great people, and an excellent source for locally conditioned plants. These guys really helped when I was looking for water catchment. — They didn’t have what I needed, but I bought a bunch of other stuff which I was satisfied with. A bit pricey, but worth it for the knowledge base.

This is just an excellent place to buy plants. Like the name implies they specialize in low water, xeric plants that do well in the arid Albuquerque climate. Wonderful selection of plants, trees, shrubs and even cacti. A great place to roam around and look. Get off the couch and go buy a plant. No dogs allowed. No returns allowed. Prices not cheap.
