Papa John’s Pizza

I have to say that this particular Papa Johns has seen a rocky road of general managers in its day, some of them worse than others. I worked here in college, and ate here often in between those years. However, their current GM is a rock star with a stellar crew! I’ve recently worked with Nicole to accomplish multiple orders of enormous scale and the pizza was perfect from order, payment, deliver to quality. Nice work guys!

The only reason you should ever eat here is because you’re too drunk to go get pizza from somewhere else.

After a week of bouncing around Gallup and Albuquerque, we arrived at a Sunday evening when no one really wanted to go out. I’d heard about Papa John’s before, and turns out there was one that delivered to the hotel we were at. So we ordered a fairly typical pepperoni/​sausage, well done pie.
The good — VERY fast delivery… about 20 minutes. Also incredibly reasonably priced. And included red peppers (something many delivery guys don’t even think about).
The not so good — not well done — in fact, barely cooked enough to eat. But what really pushed them down on the score was that it was just bland. It wasn’t bad (i.e. Domino’s), but it sure wasn’t good.
For a group of people too lazy to get up and go to a restaurant, it sufficed. But if you’re expecting a great pizza, Papa John’s is not it…

I’ve always liked Papa John’s. I mean, it’s not my favorite pizza, but if someone plopped one down in front of me, I would definitely be excited. I love dipping my crust in the tasty butter garlic sauce that comes with it. And I think the little pepperoncinis (banana peppers?) that they put with them is a nice classic Papa John’s touch.
This specific location has never wowed me, but I haven’t really had any horror stories either. It’s just fine. When considering my pizza eating options though, this never hits the top three. It’s always Pizza 9, Venezia’s, or Pizza Hut. If I’ve REALLY burnt myself out on those other pizza options, or Papa John’s offers an amazing deal, then I eat there. The student pizza discount is pretty awesome, and also whenever the Lobos win you get a BOGO if you’re a part of their e-​mail club. Do it!

Rude delivery driver and one pizza never got cut. We were staying in a hotel so we couldn’t eat it :-/
