Massage Envy

I can only describe the experience as painful. Seems like I got the hulk to give me a massage. I said relax please. Guess he thought I said hurt me please! I was in worse shape than I came in. Will never go back. Avoid at all costs.

First time there and was the worst massage I ever had! Won’t go back! Paid $ 100 for a couples massage and all they did was rub lotion on! So disappointed!

I could not be more disappointed with these people. I received 2 massage gift certificates from 2 family members wherein lays the problem. M.E. would only validate one gift card because they said that because I was not a member they would not honor the second card! They would not redeem the cost of the card but said I could pick some products off of their shelf for the gift card. It was impossible reasoning with them. The manager called me and left a message saying that she would be out of the office and that I could call her when she got back. I only wanted a massage!!!

i’ve been a Massage Envy member for over 3 yrs. ABQ is a new town for me but this location is just down the street from my house. the front desk girls are mildly friendly and if you call when they are busy and have to put you on hold they are actually rude.
i’ve had one facial here because my MIL had one and she said it was great although it was a Las Vegas location. I booked a 1 hr massage and a facial to follow. This ended up cutting 10 min off my massage. Not pleased. i was on the facial table and ready to go at exactly my appt time. the facial was really sub-​par. she barely touched my skin… there was so much product still on my face that i had to rewash when i got home. she spent less than 1 min doing extractions which is BS. the facial is supposed to include an arm, hand and décolletage massage and that didnt happen. she did however «sell» me on the other salon that she worked at. the thing that pissed me off the most is that she ended my facial a full 15 min early. i was done, dressed and checked out with new product well before my 1 hr was up.
The first massage therapist i had was pretty good… she had her moments of excellence but she was a bit too chatty. i know abt her phone bill, her online bf that she and her husband fight abt and how she plans to lose weight. i saw her every month for 90 min for 4 months and was reasonably happy with her until i came for my 4^th appt and she literally couldnt remember who i was. i always tipped her well and tried to tip in cash so she had her tips right away rather than waiting until they process credit cards… i was truly insulted. i never booked her again.
the guy i saw afterwards is apparently NOT a massage therapist but a pressure point guru. he didnt even use lotion and would hold a pressure point for like 60 seconds-​just sitting there. um yah… i dont need someone to give me a physic massage or «pray» over my knots. i know some people are into that but i booked a massage not a pressure point session.
the next massage therapist i saw was great and i have seen him twice. i reviewed my hits and misses with past therapists and he gave me exactly what i requested.
this Friday he was not available and after the holidays i really wanted to start my wknd with sleeping in after a great massage the night before. i asked them to book me with someone similar to my favorite guy and mentioned that i dont want a pressure point session-​i want a MASSAGE. tonight i got there 7 min early for an 8 pm appt and at 8:10 he still hadnt come out to get me. i started to wonder if i had the wrong time. he finally came out and apologized for running late and said he would go late to make up the time. Sweet! i reviewed my hits and misses from passed therapists and he said he knew exactly what i was talking abt and mentioned that he and my other guy share lots of clients. Sweet! he left to allow me to undress… and i waited another 8 minutes!!! my massage didnt start until almost 8:30. i figured that would be fine since he told me he would go long to make it up. by my estimate my 90 min should be done around 9:50 (they close at 10).
He came back in and briskly pulled my sheet back… no warm up… no gradual unveiling. just BOOM. thankfully i’m ok being naked but i wondered how another new client might feel abt that. he started with the basic ‘body check’ stuff and then started my «massage». he did do deep tissue work but it was not via massage but by pressure point… WTF? this guy doesnt use lotion either!!! whatever…
complaining abt a massage is kind of like the worse first world problem to complain about… i get it but i AM paying for a service and even after i was specific i wasnt getting it. at least he was going to make up my time for him being late, right? NO. at 9:38 he gave me a little pat on my shoulders and said «you’re all done».
i was really irritated at this point. i go to check out and both the front desk girls are reading books and barely looked up to half-​heartedly ask «how was your massage». i said it was fine and let them know i needed to purchased a skin care set and told her which one and she went to the cabinet and pulled it out. she rang me up, i left a cash tip (20%) and went to leave and noticed they gave me the wrong one. she blamed ME! neither one of them knew how to issue a refund so they had to call their manager… so i waited and waited. and i’ll wait 3 – 5 days for $ 100 to go back on my card.
i’m done with this location. i’m sick of paying for pressure point sessions instead of an actual massage and i’m sick of dealing with rude people. i dont care that they are minutes from my house, i’ll be going to a new location and hope i can get what i pay for.

Clean, friendly, and I enjoyed my massage. Great location.
