I would have recommended this bike shop to others: Til’ I figured out that the owners are really only truly friendly or considerate to the«upper echelon of the Albuquerque cycling community». Doesn’t matter how much business you do with them on a consistent basis; they’re too big/too important to even acknowledge you(as the customer) with a greeting or even a «thanks». No thanks. Next time I need a part I will just order it online; I no longer need your convenience. I would rather spend more time waiting for a bicycle part in transit(from an online purchase) than continue to patronize some one that could care less about you…

We bought two bikes here in 2014. The service was great at the time… The guy who helped us was very patient and demoed 3 – 4 bikes for my husband until he figured out which one he was most comfortable with. He also helped steer us towards which accessories would be helpful for us and which ones would be a waste for us at our experience level. I appreciated his expertise and his candid guidance. He was right on every single selection. Their follow-up service has also been great, experienced and reasonable. We are very happy with our bikes and their service.

I’m a fan of High Desert Bicycles. I’ve had some positive experiences in this place — whether I needed to buy something or have them make a mechanical tweak on my bike. A couple of times I walked in there asking a question — and pretty much feeling like an idiot — but they’ve always treated me with down-to-earthness. You get the sense they value their customers and do everything they can to meet your needs. Good vibes happening here. Located on the NE corner of Paseo & Louisiana, it’s also a good spot to hop onto Paseo Del Norte and bike five miles east(all uphill) to Tramway. Kick-ass workout every time! :)

We moved here 3 months ago from Tucson Az. We needed to have a Pinarello tuned up before enjoying the bike trails in New Mexico. The first shop we found in Albuquerque was this place. They did a passable job on the tune up and we decided to return to purchase a mountain bike. We returned to the store to look we were approached by a young man who we weren’t sure even worked at the shop and asked him if they took trade ins. He told us that no they did consignment only Having a Motobecane in storage that was too big for my wife we returned with the bike and was told no they didn’t do consignment only trade in first incorrect information we received. This actually was what we were looking to do. I was then informed that a 2000.00 dollars bike was only worth 300. dollars supposedly because the shifters were going bad(incidentally the shifters were stiff from 4 years of storage.) I then decided to take the bike out and hmmm it shifted as well as when brand new. He also informed us that the shifters were going out but to this day still shifting wonderfully. Second incorrect information received. I don’t mind that a business wants to make a profit but not on the backs of their customers to the point of fabricating details. Will we ever return to this place OHHELLNO!!!

Was on my way from Texas to California to ride the #1 ranked mountain bike trails per Singletrack in each state when one of my bikes fell off the bike rack and got tore up. The owner there personally helped me and gave me good solid advise and I was able to get the gear I needed and am now ready to hit the next Epic trail. Everyone there was super helpful. Thanks y’al!

Went in to look for a cruiser. Walked around, looked for a bit. Man at counter said he would be with us in a moment. Two other people walked in behind us and were assisted first. Really disappointed in the lack of customer service. Apparently our business was not wanted.

I had been having problems with flats on my mountain bike. It seems like I was going through inner tubes by the week. I looked up my problem online, with mixed results. I went to a «big box» bike shop and I was completely on my own. I stopped into the Louisiana shop and was greeted immediately. He talked to me for a long, long time about where I ride, how often I ride, my bike, etc. Finally he figured out my problem, we made the proper purchases and changes and sent me on my way! I haven’t had any tire problems in at least a month. It was a great experience and I wish more shops would put that much effort into customer service and product knowledge as these guys do.

Stopped in to High Desert Bicycles to check out mountain bikes for my kids and have a used bike tuned. The man who helped us was friendly and helpful with fitting my kids for the size of bike they needed and recommended a bike that was large enough for them to grow into. I did not feel pressured to purchase anything immediately. We left the bike we had to be tuned and it was ready the following day with a phone call to let me know I could pick it up. The shop is very clean and easy to access. Overall, a very pleasant experience.

Big fan of HDB. Went in to get my road bike fixed, ended up buying a cross bike. The owner is hands-on and while he’s knowledgable, he’s not stand-offish like many bike people — he really makes you feel like he’s interested in what you want out of a bike. Prices are competitive, although I imagine you can get cheaper service elsewhere… but I’m not sure that you’d get your money’s worth more than you do at High Desert.

I dropped by High Desert Cycles on Louisiana today(while on a short training ride). I needed a new saddle for my road bike. The salesperson, Fred, showed me to the«assometer»(not the trade name, of course) to measure the width of my bone structure on the saddle. Based on this info, he showed me a range of wider saddles to meet my needs. And I thought I needed a narrower one! I bought the Specialized Toupe’ which Fred installed immediately. He also installed some new Shimano cleats on my shoes(which also needed to be replaced). I have never received such great service at a local bike shop(with the exception of RioMountainSport which closed) and was in and out of there in no time, so to speak — not to mention I had a much more pleasant ride home. If you want friendly and professional service, I would strongly recommend you visit High Desert(with locations in ABQ and Rio Rancho, NM)!
