Love the friendly staff at Geckos. Love the location near my house. Atmosphere is nice with comfy booths and just the right amount of TVs. But Geckos please, please, please fix your menu. I would be at this place all the time if the food was good. I love interesting combinations done right but why put pepperoni in your nachos or blue cheese in your queso??? The queso is good for one or two bites and then overpowering and disgusting. Cut down on the strange tapas and improve the ones people order often. Please, please Geckos! Just do classic bar food right and people will love you for it.

My husband went on a road trip for vacation and stopped in Albuquerque along the way and we found this restaurant on trip advisor and only went because it was dog friendly and open. I’m so glad we did because the staff was so friendly not only with us but they offered our pup some bacon right away. Everything on the menu looked delicious so we ordered some small plates to share. We had some quesadillas, green chile stew, ceviche and crab taquitos — all were amazing! The bar area inside looked really fun — would want to go back on a Friday or Saturday night. Definitely on our re visit list when we come back to the area.

Had lunch here a couple weeks ago. The food was very good and we liked the atmosphere. Will be back soon!

The owner wally is a crabby old geezer. He is quite unwelcoming for someone in the hospitality business. I wonder if the Miami vice theme is his way of living a dead past. Other than that the bar tenders are great. But the atmosphere with the belly dancers is horrible. Do yourself a favor and go to any other bar for a more exciting time. There are plenty close by that are far more welcoming.

Even though Gecko’s isn’t very close to my house, I consider it my neighborhood bar. The servers are always friendly and attentive, and it’s tough to beat $ 3.50 drafts at Happy Hour including several local brews. Check out the cheeseburger special on Wednesdays after 6 and the carne adovada b’fast burrito special on Sundays. I like the vibe at Gecko’s. .. maybe you will, too.

Can’t complain about this bar. Not a massive selection of beers but enough to satisfy any palette. Mixed drinks and cocktails are good and the food is what you would expect from a bar. Mostly an olde crowd at this spot and the inside volume is low enough that you never have to yell. NFL Sunday ticket as well

Horrible service, server did not know how to serve, she was not hospitable. The male manager could have utilized his time better but was mesmerized by folding silverware. The place was empty we all had 4 drinks over 2 hours. We will never go back and if this kind of service continues you will fail the downtown location is so much better. The way people spend money and tip well is if they feel welcome.

I would give it 4 but for the smokers, which make sitting on the patio awful! There is a sign on the patio that says«Geckos is a Non-Smoking Establishment,» yet they have half of the patio reserved for smokers. PLEASE ban smoking. It is unhealthy, gross, and puts your non-smoking customers at risk. Especially those of us who have dogs and have no choice to sit outside. It is way past time to ban smoking on all patio restaurants!

Service was great and friendly, it’s nice when your server is sweet enough to bring your dog bacon and a bowl of water. But that was honestly the only thing I appreciated. Seriously lacking the ambiance factor and the food sucked. Don’t have much else to say, other than I won’t be back.

Bartender sends out a non-muddled, no ice Old Fashioned — I politely ask for a remake. The waitress takes it back and watches him add ice and brings it back. Really? Also, the food was served lukewarm and really wasn’t very good. It’s a shame, as the location in Nob Hill seems to be a completely different restaurant — good food and great bartending. We won’t be back as this is not our first try at this location with similar food issues. We had hoped that a year would make a difference. We try to support local, but would not recommend this place for even just drinks. It’s worth it to make the trek to Nob Hill.

Nice atmosphere to watch a game! Kind of loud, but who doesn’t want to yell for their favorite team! Good drink specials and food is good for a bar. I love the triple decker blt and the grilled cheese! As for tapas I like the crab taquitos best!

Been here bunches. It is very centrally located for my heights friends and for friends who take I-25 North to go home. It is a great place for happy hour and to meet up with buddies. My dear friends who insist on killing themselves slowly with nicotine have a few tables outdoors where they may indulge. The rest of us who are taking our time and dying by degrees with liquor are happy to put up with them. The happy hour is a good one and the prices are reasonable. Good for a bunch of friends after work who need to let off steam. Service has been good so far and the steak tacos tapas are yummy. Going again tomorrow so will update with details. Eat local!

My BFF and I went here for lunch last Friday. The bartender was also our server, and there were about 8 people total in the place when we walked in… her name is Emilee. She took our drink order, and switched them when she brought them over 5 minutes later… informed me that they did not have Frog Legs for the Tapas… so we tried the smoke gouda and corn. It was awful! I ordered the Basil Cesar salad, and it was far from good. Deli Berry is still hands down the best place for fresh salads!~! It took this woman forever to take care of us, her attitude was far from service-worthy. She spent most of her time while we were there sitting on her ass at the bar texting. Is this what I can ALWAYS expect from this city??? Of course me best friend ordered what he always does… a cheeseburger. Difference this time is that he did NOT finish it, that is how damn bad this place was. NEVEREVERGOINGBACK–

Nice little bar with yummy tapas and drink specials. Gecko’s has a great menu that is fun and unique. They have daily drink specials which I think is a great idea because it highlights new beers, spirits in the market. I really enjoy the DOGFRIENDLY patio. There aren’t a lot of places that allow our canine friends so Geckos does allow doggies.

Being that I work right near the Academy location, I’d have to say I’m here quite often. This location isn’t as great as the one in Nob Hill as far as people watching & location, but the food and service I’ve found to be pretty standard at both. I’m a big fan of their happy hour specials(food & drinks), bloody mary’s, the turkey Gecko sandwich, and the tapas! The food here isn’t anything outstanding, but it’s tasty and at a reasonable price, which keeps me coming back. It’s a great place to come after work for a drink and appetizer and sit on the patio. Check it out!

Nice neighborhood place to hang out with a relaxed atmosphere. The food we had was horribly oily but the beer selection is good and the service was great.

I went to meet a friend for quick drink and was very impressed with atmosphere right off the bat. Waitress was very attentive and friendly. I however did not have food so I can’t critique food. However, if you like your drinks stiff you will not be disappointed. Will definitely stop by again and stay longer.

Drove halfway across Albuquerque so we can have a cold beer and have the dogs with us. We sat on the patio. Nice atmosphere, very friendly. Our server was quick to greet us, even though we were the only ones outside when we got there.(A couple more tables joined us later; it was still early). Since this was why we came, beer first: Slightly disappointed that there weren’t more local beers on the menu but surprised to see Shiner. My wife had the Isotopes Blonde and I had the Marble IPA — both excellent choices. Tapas: Blue cheese fondue was flavorful, but I expected more than blue cheese crumbles melted into queso. The grilled basil mushrooms and artichoke hearts were a joke — they might have been grilled at some point but tasted like cold marinated canned mushrooms and artichokes. We enjoyed the beer and atmosphere, and the food was edible if not good. Doubt we’ll come back.

Not sure about the no service review– I can only imagine it was due to an over serving liquor law… This neighborhood bar has that cozy feel. The food is good especially the tapas and the drinks are stiff! I’ve become acquainted with many of the friendly regulars at this unique spot. I tend to eat here at least once or twice a week the bar tenders are fun and managers excellent! Check this local spot out and make it your regular dinner spot!
