Fonzy’s Barber Shop

This is a cool, classic shop. Sit your butt in a barber chair that’s a hundred years old and get a no fuss cut.
Be prepared to wait– Abel is popular for a reason.

Great atmosphere and very loyal customer base, not to mention great price and friendly people. It would get 5 stars if they could get another barber in there to decrease the wait times for those with a busy schedule.

I had a great time at Fonzy’s hanging out with Abel and the other locals. It’s an old school shop where you actually socialize with other people! Abel gave me a great cut for only $ 10. No appointments, so make sure you have a little time, but it’s well worth it. It was a fun experience. I would highly recommend!

What you get:
1. The type of cut you want for a great price (as of review $ 10).
2. Good conversation as Fonzie and regulars who hang around always have interesting stories to talk about.
3. Stocked refrigerator. Just ask Fonzie what’s available.
4. If you like a straight razor shave, he’ll give you a smooth one.
What you don’t get:
1. Fancy digs. This shop was around for 40 years before Fonzie bought it from Mike & Joe (old Parkview Barber Shop).
2. Lots of parking. If busy you may have to park in front of other businesses and walk a few yards.
3. Immediate cut … he’s popular and (for now) alone. But Fonzie is quick. Usually performs 3 – 4 haircuts an hour, so gauge your wait.
This is my new, go-​to place!

This is my first Unilocal review and I’m usually a glass is half full kinda guy but the haircut I received from here is probably the worst I’ve ever gotten. I was cautiously optimistic about this place from the other Unilocal reviews and because the barber seemed nice. I realize this might be an isolated incident but it’s probably going to take 2 months before I can grow my hair long enough to get a proper haircut.

This is hands down the best barbershop I’ve ever been to. The owner, Abel, is creating a hangout environment where you also can get a top notch haircut. He has a fridge that is stocked and as much entertaining conversation as a person can handle. If you want the entire experience you can get a hot towel and straight razor shave for the same ten dollars. In my opinion a person can’t do better. Sadly, I just moved to Florida and I miss this place as much as I miss my friends, family, and green chile.

A throwback to the days of old. Fonzy’s is just that… It’s a place where old men and young alike come for that two chair environment. We talk nonsense and download our worries on our psychologist… I mean barber. Abel is awesome at what he does, and I have never left with disappointment when he’s cut my hair. I’m incredibly particular and this man doesn’t miss a detail. The funny thing is that much like old school barbers you get the barber’s cut when you go there.
I’m glad I’ve found this little oasis and I have to thank my buddies for finding it.
For the $ 10 price you get a good haircut and you also get a hot lather and straight razor neck shave.
Sometimes you’ll wait for a moment for Abel’s expert hand, but all and all, its far worth the time and money.

I am a sucker for Unilocal reviews, and went straight to «The Barber’s Shop» in Nob Hil after seeing they were in Mens Health Magazine. However, I had to wait forever, there were only women cutting hair, and it was a really unwelcoming atmosphere.
I drove a couple blocks up the street and ran into Fonzy’s. This place is the best. He cuts everyones hair, he makes excellent conversation, has a fully stocked fridge, accepts walk ins, gets you in and out quick yet listens to what you want, and only charges $ 10 for a haircut! If you want to experience a truly «Manly» barbershop, go to this place. Don’t waste your money on a gimmick somewhere else.
