After 75 years of creating smiles and stories, a new sensation has arrived at Dairy Queen. After three years of planning they have unleashed a new«BAKES!» menu. I was fortunate to try the all of the baked items at a Unilocal elite event recently. Before I go on I must disclose that usually I only write a review for the event and reserve the review for the business for future experiences. But in this case I was so amazed with the product and staff, I felt that it needed to be here for all of the Unilocal world to see. «Snack Melts, Artisan-Style Oven Fresh Sandwiches, and Hot Desserts a la Mode, oh my!» UEach made on demand to satisfied your Diary Queen addiction. Warning: If you are not addicted to one of the baked items, you soon will be. The Snack Melts make a perfect snack. For only $ 1.79 you have a choice of the Buffalo Chicken(310 calories), Chicken Bacon BBQ(290 calories), and Chicken Quesadilla(290 calories). It’s impossible to choose a favorite. They all are unique and are worth a try. One of their best quality is they are low in calories, but still full of flavor. The Artisan-Style Oven Fresh Sandwiches are going to ruin Dairy Queen’s image of only serving fried fast food. Dairy Queen has proven that they are listening to consumers that are searching for a healthier option on their menu when they created the Chicken Bacon Ranch, Chicken Mozzarella, and Turkey BLT. They range from 460 – 620 calories. They are big enough to share with someone and taste like they would have a lot more calories then they do. I loved them all! The Hot Desserts a la Mode, have altered my dessert expeditions for Dairy Queen as well. I never imagined that I would stick my spoon into a hot fresh triple brownie, fudge stuffed chocolate chip cookie, or apple tart at any fast food restraurant. What a sensation when these amazingly delicious fresh bake desserts merge with the creamy smooth ice cream that made DQ famous. It’s heaven on earth. If you curious what all of these amazing«BAKES!» products look like search on Unilocal for Unilocal ABQDQ Hullabaloo and you’ll be consumed by some fantastic images. A big thanks goes out to Sheri, Doug, and the DQ employees for giving me another reason to smile and enjoy DQ!

Let me disclose from the beginning — I do not eat fast food. Ever. It’s been almost three decades since I have eaten at a McDonald’s, and generally speaking all other fast food places are in the same boat for me. But — we had an Elite event here tonight, and I was deeply impressed. I have a fairly snobby attitude about fast food joints, and though I do ADORE a DQ soft serve, I have not actually had one in a LOOOOOOOOONG time. Or any other item from DQ, for that matter. The food here is good. I was genuinely surprised that I liked it, but I did. They have a new menu section called«Bakes» and we tried six of the new items(plus three desserts — it was ridiculous). The sandwiches are pretty good, I liked the Chicken Mozzarella the best — of course, the only fried item was the best… The Turkey BLT seemed to be a hit with lots of folks, too. But the sandwiches were, in my opinion, not as great as the Snack Melts. The Buffalo Chicken Snack Melt was delicious, but the Chicken Bacon BBQ Snack Melt was awesome! They are just over 200 calories, so I would actually get one — once in a blue moon, but if I’m craving junk, that is an excellent option! They also have fried cheese curds — crazy delicious, and where else can you get those in ABQ? The desserts nearly killed me. The brownie and apple tart were good, but honestly, if I am going to have that many calories, I’m getting the fudge-stuffed chocolate chip cookie. That thing was unbelievably good. I would order it smothered in peanut butter sauce and then die a happy, unhealthy death. Seriously — amazing frickin’ cookie! In addition to the food, the owner and staff were just super nice, lovely people who really care about their work and their store, as well as their customers. They were fabulous, truly fabulous. I went to the store with very low expectations, and they really made me re-evaluate. I am still not going to be a fast food person, but at least I know if I am hungry and my choice is DQ, I will feel good making that choice. Excellent food, fabulous people — overall just a wonderful experience.

Lack of consistency,! Ordered a small oreo blizzard and it had several large chunks of oreo, so i asked if it could be re-made and mixed well(i get the same thing almost every evenig — often made different). Well… they just added a BUNCH of oreo to the same one and and blended the heck out of it as if it were a thick milkshake, then they put a spoonfull of oreos on top. It was horrible!!! I guess they figured she wants oreos we will give her oreos!!! I have gone several times a week for years, but they just helped me kick the habit because i will not be back as this is NOT the first time!!! And don’t bother calling, because they don’t answer their phone they ONLY have a recording. You cant even contact the manager or owner to alert them of any issues!

$ 5 gets you a drink, fries and in my case I opted for burger versus chicken tenders. Let’s not forget the sundae too! Perfect size meal and tasty treat for only five bucks. Food was über fresh and deelish. Service was fantastic. Writing this review is making me hungry for DQ.

Probably the best fast food joint I’ve ever been to, primarily because of the professionalism and friendliness of the management and staff.
