Favourite lunch place in Uptown. Scratch that; favourite lunch place ever. Perfect menu with good daily soups and great salads.

Found this very busy, high energy lunch shop. Luckily we found a seat quickly and were promptly greeted. I had the Sicilian sandwich and soup. The sandwich wast toasted and tasted great. Quality ingredients, great melted cheese. The soup– well this was the best part of the meal. For a ‘cup’ it was generous. The flavors were well balanced, spicy but not over the top. Full of chicken too. I’d say it could have been a meal in itself. Susan actually finished hers and remarked that she could buy a quart for take out sometime. High praise! It was their green chili chicken. Go get some.

I have been coming for many years and it has traveled jobs with me. You can count on always having a tasty sandwich and cup of soup here. In addition, the wait staff will always give you a warm welcome and keep your cup of iced tea filled. I recommend my favorite sandwich, Arty’s Special, which is a delight of ham, bacon, cheese, and green chile.

nice Reuben sandwich, and good portion of salad. Too bad they were out of soup.

Today was my first time here and I loved it. I had the Chelsea and soup. The sandwich was similar to an Abq turkey… roasted turkey, freshly roasted green chile, and melty provolone on grilled sour dough bread. Absolutely delicious. The soup today was green chile chicken. It was thick and creamy with chunks of chicken and delicious HOT green chile. Perfect for the cooler fall weather. Service was fast and friendly.

The food was phenomenal. I ordered the Gyros with Greek Salad. There was Green Chile in the entrée and it was so flavourful. The shop is so small that our four-person party was lucky to get a seat, though. I think I may prefer to take my food to-go to avoid the cramped atmosphere in the future.

Yum yum ! A girlfriend introduced me to this place. It looks boring from the outside but as soon as you step inside I felt like I was in a different town. Décor was cool and rustic and my Ruben was awesome, I decided on a side salad and it was also delicious. The place was packed! In a fun way, and always means good food to me ! The waitresses seemed to have had regulars and everyone was laughing and friendly.

The sandwiches are delicious and the wait staff is great. It’s a small family owned restaurant which makes you feel at home!

Exceptional! This afternoon is the 1st time my wife & I had decided to eat here. I ordered the Sweet & Spicy sandwich(chicken, bacon pepper jack cheese, sweet & spicy sauce, lettuce, tomato served hot on a pretzel roll) with the Waldrof salad and my wife ordered the Sicilian sandwich with the fruit salad. We each enjoyed our meals. The service was great. We will definitely return to try other menu options.

Found out about Cheese and Coffee after stumbling upon their Instagram page(@cheeseandcoffee) and drooling over their desserts. I went to the Uptown location which was quaint and kinda reminded me of my Grandma’s house. It’s really cute. I ordered half the Chelsea sandwich which consisted of turkey, Jack cheese, avocado, green chile and the apple Waldorf salad. The sandwich was excellent. Salad was decent. My Aunt ordered a build your own sandwich with pastrami which she loved. They have tons of sandwich options. Service was great! Our waitress was so sweet and gave us great recommendations. This is a good place to go for a quick lunch. We got our food right away!

Today was my first time and definitely will not be my last. I built my own sandwich(focaccia, turkey, avocado spread, & all veggies) and got the soup of the day which was red chili chicken posole. I really liked the soup because it had a good kick; it was chile hot, but enjoyable. Next time I’ll have to try the Chelsea everyone is talking about.

What a gem of a location. What many have commented on here(simplicity, ordinary) is actually in my opinion well executed. Add to that the service was top notch and the prices competitive, I would recommend the spot to anyone. I had the lox and bagel with a side salad and soft drink– I think the total was 9 dollars or so plus the tip. The lox was wonderful and the bagel was nicely toasted yet still fluffy and chewy. The space is small and I would say some could call it cozy, but I can imagine the place gets incredibly busy. That said I came towards closing. Despite the closing time passing, the team there went out of their way to make sure we were not rushed and that we were welcomed to stay. They were incredibly nice and personable. Now there were things that others would find perhaps not worthy of 5 stars. However, these things to me are less of a distraction. Take coffee selection. I don’t drink coffee but I work and dine with fascist coffee drinkers. THISISNOTSTARBUCKSORFLYINGSTAR! With that said, they also do not overcharge for coffee or sandwiches that in the case of the aforementioned competitors do not execute well yet over charge for both. They also do not have fancy tables carved out of pine logs submerged in the swamps of Louisiana but in candor, they don’t need the distraction. They do a few things excellent. What they don’t do is everything mediocre. I will be back!

Love this little slice of local!!! They have wonderful lunch specials. This is one of my favorite lunch places to escape to. The staff is always very friendly. The food is always yummy. I love their half sandwich and salad deal. It is plenty of food to fill you up to make it through the afternoon! Defiantly worth a visit.

Just to start these lady’s are amazing and super friendly. Food is great… One caveat is the soup can be spicy & the name is miss leading. This is a sandwich shop not a coffee shop:)

Due to the demise of Satellite Coffee in Uptown, which was my spot for laptopping in the area, I started snooping around looking for the next café. A place called Cheese & Coffee seemed like a rational place to investigate. Swing… and a massive miss. The women that run the place are terribly charming and they’ve obviously built a strong customer base; hell, they were making small talk with the delivery guy. They really wanted me to enjoy myself, but I was looking for a place to work, not necessarily dine. But alas, I ordered up a sammy and a cup of plain ol’ coffee(no, you will not find anything fancy-schmancy in here) and then spent the better part of five minutes unsuccessfully connecting to the wi-fi. Whatever. It’s a kitschy kinda place with Antique Roadshow appeal, if that’s appealing to you. I honestly wasn’t impressed with what I ate, but it was comfort food. Not my cuppa tea –er, coffee– but whatareyagonnado. Businesses like this keep on keepin’ on because they earn it: solid, real, personable service. Expect a warm welcome.

I’m a big fan of Cheese & Coffee Café – both the downtown and uptown locations. Delicious sandwiches, salads and soups. Interesting, creative, and super tasty. Service is fast and friendly. My favs: the French Dip with cheese and green chile added and the Chelsea. The sides are awesome too, but the standouts are the fresh twist on the Waldorf salad and the fresh fruit(yes, it’s that good). Give C&C a try – you won’t be disappointed!

I’ve read a lot of reviews about this shop but was very disappointed when i went in. Yes the reviews all talk about the sandwiches and how busy it gets but not one mentioned that they dont offer selections of cheese or coffees. Boo hoo. Their sandwiches are ok at best. Yes it does get very busy here and if your in a rush call ahead or come at a different time than at the lunch hour. I wasn’t impressed enough(or was it the disappointment of no cheese and coffee too choose from) but I’m pretty sure i won’t b back. There are many more local shops to get a good sandwich i just don’t feel this one is one of them.

This is a great lunch place. No nonsense what’s so ever. Great food, friendly speedy service, good prices. They serve a good size menu, however food arrived quickly even during the lunch rush.

I recently moved very close to here, so I decided to go in and try it. It’s basically a sandwich shop that appears to be straight out of the late 80’s/early 90’s. Also, they don’t seem to specialize in either cheese or coffee. Staff is very friendly, but it is set up as a situation in which one feels compelled to tip. Unfortunately, food is served in a plastic basket with plastic silverware, so I really don’t want to be in a tipping situation. This is a place that could really do to update everything including perhaps investing in an espresso machine.

I just love these sorta of hidden gems. You’d never know that some of the best sandwiches in town are hidden in that random strip mall across from the Sheraton but I promise you will be blown away. I’ve had the lox on bagel which is loaded generously — no skimping on them lox! Comes with an awesome salad, I’m talking full out mixed greens from that huge tub you get at Costco. Ain’t no iceburg up on that plate. The«Big Apple» is nothin but muscle. Packed with pastrami and corned beef, I would have needed to dislocate my jaw like a snake to actually bite this thing. If you came for the cheese, I’d recommend the«Focazzia.» It’s like a pizza meets panini meets Man vs Food. Little known fun fact: this was one of the best restaurants in Albuquerque in the year 1993! Don’t call it a come back! They been here for years.
