So I discovered they have crab legs only on weekends. So we went and gave it another try. I am adding up another star for the crablegs. For 12.99 $ per person on weekend crablegs buffet, it is one of the more affordable options here in Albuquerque. They have your typical Americanized Chinese food here. They also have clams, mussels and crawfish. We just come here when we get the craving for steamed crablegs. :)

While I was there I had extremely great service– quick Mongolian grill and I was able to get special request sushi. The Mongolian bbq was really good, made it all worth the visit. Semi-limited choices for vegetarians. Great service too.

Another Chinese Buffet review… hmmm…I really need to diversify. Was working Sunday and had originally planned on going to my go-to Taco Cabana, but the line was around the building in drive-thru and there wasn’t one parking spot(which is obviously a testament to their food, at 11:00 am on a Sunday). So drove a little further and remembered this buffet was around the corner. The place itself is very clean and kind a decent décor. The staff is super-friendly and efficient… and then it takes a turn. So I was there fairly early, about 11:15 and there were folks already dining. Know it’s never good to go to a buffet at off hours, since food tends not to be fresh. I started with some General’s chicken, teriyaki, egg roll, crab rangoons, ribs and some egg drop soup. The General’s chicken was not the list bit tangy as it should be… the teriyaki was decent. The egg roll was definitely not a good one and the ribs were horrid bones surrounded with way more fat than meat. So then I went on to hope that maybe the sushi would be better and it was. Not a huge selection but fresh and decent. Finally, after so much disappointment(and STILL being hungry), I tried dessert. A little piece of some funky cereal square(think rice crispy treats but with Apple Jacks and Fruit Loops) and it was hard as a rock. Not even edible. The little square of cake was also a brick that would have busted your car window. But it gets worse. So I get the check and because it’s the weekend, this is their«all day» special buffet that was $ 12.99 plus the $ 1.99 for the iced tea(decent)…with tax it was over $ 16 and with tip, an even $ 18(not the server’s fault). …for food I couldn’t even stomach. The server even looked at my plate when she brought the check and I could tell from the look on her face, she knew I wasn’t happy. Needless to say, if you want to spend $ 18 on a weekend lunch, this is NOT the place I would recommend. There are far better buffets than this one.

I read a negative review that stated, «Calling yourself the Buffet King doesn’t make it so.» Well, that may be true, but this place was named Buffet King because they are, in fact, the king of the buffet. I don’t know exactly why anyone left a poor review about this restaurant, but perhaps those people have mental problems. The diversity presented at this buffet was virtually limitless. They truly offer a little bit of everything. I was overwhelmed when I did my first lap of all the food to see where to begin my culinary adventure. By the time it was all said and done, between my companion and myself, we sampled a little bit of everything. That said, we liked everything. This is not a gourmet restaurant. However, this is a great place to eat. For a mere $ 11.00 per person for dinner hours, we could not have been more pleased. I had an ear to ear smile on my face for the duration of my visit. The staff was friendly and accommodating. Service was prompt for both dishes and refills. The only downside to my experience dining here was the shame I felt with myself for eating such an exorbitant amount of food in one sitting. My fortune cookie said, «You will have good luck in all of your personal affairs.»

Do not eat here. The food is questionable at best and flavored mostly by salt. Every chicken entrée is tough and dark, very dark. The crab legs are tiny and dry. Given that virtually every table hosts at least one obese person and you have to wash your shoes after leaving because of the sticky surfaces, you can be sure you are in a slum.

Very good value lunch on a weekday. Favorites are General Chicken, jalapeño chicken, egg rolls, hot & sour soup and pan fried dumplings. Go when they are busy so that food turns over. I wish that they had a larger selection of stir-fry dishes, maybe garlic chicken…

I absolutely loved this buffet. I have to admit i’m not usually up for any type of buffets(especially Chinese) but this one has become a favorite. There is huge selection of food to choose from and the food is fresh.

They have improved their service(most the time. .we go in about 2x or more a month now for the last 4 months or so) and we love the Fri(330p or later) Sat & Sunday crab leg buffet. No where else in town have i found all you can eat crab legs(except a drive to one of the casinos) for right at $ 15 with drink. There are times we have to wait for the crab legs to cook, so they can bring more out.. When this happens, I move on to the Salt & Pepper Fried Calamari, the hot [temp] Garlic cooked shrimp & artificial crab dish(I mainly scoop the shrimp). Frog Legs, & Crawfish… Chinese BBQ ribs, and the list goes on! A full select Salad bar(dressing choices are the basic but that’s ok by me). Their ice cream is basic soft serve … rave about their banana pudding with bananas & waffers in it. Cheese Cake was delicious. same with the coconut Crème on cake. I admit sometimes the service is slow.. It is a buffet. But the one time I noticed the temp of the food was cool(not where it should be for a hot steam table dish) the manager dealt with it immediately to find out what was happening. She let me know, she had called the maintenance guy because it had broke.. When we came back within 3 or 4 days it had been taken care of & fully repaired. — it was wonderful to see they were taking food safety seriously all the time. I move their score from a 3.5 to a 4 leaning towards a 4.5… because of the changes I have seen in service & quality of food.

My wife and I travel a lot, and have eaten at a lot different places. Recently we asked one another, «What is your favorite restaurant?» We both said, «Buffet King» in Albuquerque, New Mexico. The selection is out of this world. The weekend dinners feature so much seafood, including crab legs. Where else can you get unlimited crab for $ 13. If you happen to want world class sushi, go to a sushi bar but you’ll pay for it. We will drive a hundred miles out of our way to eat here.

As far as Asian buffets go, this is very well done. The food is fresh and there is a wide variety to choose from, including a Mongolian grill. Maybe we got lucky because there are a lot of bad reviews. Perhaps it was wise to arrive early in the day before food had a chance to sit around. My wife and I would go back here. Lunch was $ 8 per person.

Fantastic quality and variety of food here. For the dinner price if about $ 13 for an adult you can’t go wrong. That’s with all you can eat crab legs too, which unlike other buffets, they refresh the crab legs often. Service was fast, my server was very attentive to taking my plates and refill in my beverage. I will be back!

Another crappy Chinese buffet. Go ahead and load your body with this garbage if you have no other options. But you’d be better off just stopping at sprouts across the street, taking home some veggies and making your own stir fry. It might save a couple years to your life. Did I mention this food is awful? I think every vegetable here comes from a can and at least 70% of the dishes are frozen reheats.

It is not too shabby of a Chinese buffet place at all. It is actually one of the better Chinese buffets of the Duke city. It is very spacious, you can host up to 50 people party easily. The waiters/waitresses are attentive and friendly, well most of the times. Food: They have have huge selection of food. Personally, I am not a fan of their food. Just cause my family likes to go here for the crab’s legs. You pay 12.99 per person for that. They charge you automatically regardless if you are going to eat the crab legs or not. Sushi: not the best, some I have never seen before. I think they just whip out whatever they can creatively come up with. They do have a Mongolian grill sorta thing, you pick your food, meat, eggs and the dude will cook it for you. My eggs are never done the way I wanted them to cause the dude doesn’t understand English very well. I have been wanting to learn some basic Chinese stuff so I can have my meat and my eggs fix right. If you have a date or have somewhere else to be after eating at this place. I highly recommend that you bring clothes to change into, cause you’ll smell the food on your clothes, and it makes me gag.

I have similar feelings as most other reviewers on here so I’m not sure I have much to add in my review. However, I do want to say that perhaps the size of this place was understated by some — it is massive! There are gobs of different Americanized Asian foods to choose from… and while most of them are simply mediocre buffet fare, it certainly hits the spot if this is what you’re craving. The sushi buffet is sad at best — every choice was essentially the same and it was as cold as ice. However, since I am only a casual sushi lover, I won’t dock too many points for this omission. I’m convinced that every Chinese buffet in the country orders the exactly same thaw-to-serve menu items, most of which I honestly enjoy thoroughly. The only thing that really sets the buffets apart is the breadth of the menu and the warmth of the food when I scoop it from the tray. In this, Buffet King gets an average score. Half of my items were steaming and tasty while the other half were cool and stale — obviously having sat for a while. Unfortunately some of the stale choices were my preferred items. I do want to point out that Buffet King does offer a few things you probably won’t see at most smaller Chinese buffets, especially in the seafood genre. This is always a good thing as far as I’m concerned but I’ll admit that I didn’t try much of this stuff as I am wary of seafood in land-locked areas like Albuquerque and even more so at theme buffets. I tried the salt and pepper calamari and a few of the shrimp dishes and all were actually pretty good although it was clear that the protein was frozen, not fresh. Hey, what do you expect, right? As far as cost goes, Buffet King was way overpriced, in my opinion. My buffet cost approximately $ 13 on a Friday and I didn’t have anything to drink. For something of this quality I feel it should be less than $ 10.

This is probably one of the best Chinese buffets I have went to! There are many aisles of food such as seafood, salad bar, Mongolian grill, stir-fry, sushi aisle, etc. As a veggie eater like myself, they have many good vegetarian options and the types of veggie sushi was delicious and had a creative presentation! However the only small trade-off I think that they have are the Asian waiters. They were quiet and I’m not sure they speak English very well but whatever– it’s not like I needed anything from them except for a beverage. As for the interior, this place is very well invested with their Chinese culture which is nice to see in competitive buffets. In the end, the prices for dinner was only ~$ 21 for two(my bf and I) and that’s not bad at all. I definitely recommend coming here: D
