Newer Mexican Restaurant in downtown Albert Lea. The food is very authentic Mexican food. You get chips and two types of salsa before your meal. If you like a little spicy I would recommend the green sauce. The owner of the restaurant(Marco) is always there and truly appreciates each and every customer. One other nice thing that he does is on the last Saturday of every month he has a Mariachi Band that is there from 5 to 9 pm. If you have never tried this before that is the night I would recommend going as it is a lot of fun!

I visited the Azteca Mexican Grill for the first time the other day. They just opened in Albert Lea and were handing out 30% off coupons at the Farmers Market. With coupon in hand we decided to give them a try. The restaurant is generally cold and uninviting. The paintings on the wall look like the are left over after a junior high art show. The menus are written in broken English. At my table we ordered: The Beef Chimichanga — every Chimi I have ever had was finished off in the deep fryer. This one while tasty was surly made on a Panini grill. The Enchiladas — The enchiladas were served with your choice of sauce. Red, green or… «gravy sauce». Having never had heard of gravy sauce, I asked the waitress about it. I expected to hear that it was a from a family recipe or a region of Mexico that I was unfamiliar with It turns out that, in fact, the owners had strayed from traditional Mexican fare into the realm of the truck-stop diner in order to reach out to the locals. watery reconstituted beef gravy on my enchiladas? No thanks. The Chicken Tacos — not bad at $ 2 each. I was glad they gave us the option of ordering them either traditional style(onions, cilantro and lime) or ala Taco Bell(iceberg lettuce, tomato and cheese). We ordered traditional… well played. Needless to say, my quest for the best Mexican food in Albert Lea continues.
