Best chicken gyro I have had in a long time. It was damn near perfect! Also like the grape leaves and falafel. The owners/workers are really nice :)

The Big Fat Greek Truck is the only food truck that motivates me to schlep up to the capitol for mid-week work lunch. Their Greek salad is one of the few salads sans meat that actually fills me up. A sizable salad of romaine lettuce with cucumbers, tomatoes, pepperoncinis, olives, feta, and red onion is topped with a stuffed grape leaf(dolmades), served with a triangle of pita bread, and with two dressings on the side. The very friendly gentleman behind the counter(who seems to personally know 85% of all state workers in the City of Albany) always is kind enough to put orders in a little cardboard box, which helps with both carrying it back to the office or eating it picnic style on the capitol lawn. The greek dressing is not over salty(important because of the salty feta), creamy, and terribly addicting. The stuffed grape leaf is a tasty treat at the end of my salad, and I always use the pita to make a mini greek salad wrap. The only suggestion that could improve this salad would be if the veggies were cut before placed in the container. It takes a minute or two of prep work once I get my salad to cut everything into bite-size pieces. One note, if there’s anything in the salad you don’t like(tomato, onion, etc.), all of the salads are pre-made, so they’ll just open the box and remove it with their fingers. I prefer as few fingers in my salad as possible, so I’ll usually just scoop out the offending tomatoes on my own.

Food is different than what the typical food truck offers & is of very high quality. The Gyro’s are AWESOME!!! Everything is cooked perfectly and comes out quickly, considering the large amount of people that eat here. Try to get there just before the lunch hour starts to avoid any line… but, the line does move quick! Once you try food here, you’ll be hooked!

So, so delicious! I love the Greek salad wrap. The pita is fantastic and I wish I had the recipe for their Greek dressing. Their tzatziki is phenomenal. The prices are just right!

I am not a good Unilocaler. I rarely get on to write reviews, only read them. So that makes these 5 stars even better! I hopped on up the Hudson today from the city with high expectations for my meeting and low expectations for lunch. To my pleasant surprise, someone pointed on the food trucks to me. The Big Fat Greek Truck caught my eye and WOW did I make the right choice. The pita was delicious and warm, the«t sauce» amazing, the vegetables fresh, and the falafel very flavorful without that heavy deep fried flavor. The guys in the truck are the friendliest you will meet and the price(albeit I’m a city girl) can’t be beat. I can’t wait until my next trip to Albany(never though I would say that!).

One of the things that makes summer time special is the seasonal existence of food trucks along Washington Avenue in downtown Albany, across the NYS Education Building. And the food truck that stands out among them is the Big Fat Greek. I always go here every summer in the last 3 years, one of the great finds in Albany. The price is of course cheaper than the Greek food in diners or restaurants, but the quality and the taste of the food is still great(even better than one of the diners that has greek food in Central Ave). Their souvlaki and falafel is good, but the most recommended item would be the gyro. Grab one for lunch(they’re there only from 11ish to 2pm), and enjoy the sunshine at the park right next to the State Capitol. I dream of summer…
