My boyfriend and I got there 40 minutes to closing and the hostess was rude and told me they weren’t taking any more people because they close in «30 minutes». So don’t have your hours open until 2pm if you won’t seat anyone before then. This place is overrated and overpriced. I have gone here a few times because it’s conveniently right down the street from where I live but every time there’s some kind of issue.

Looked up reviews on Unilocal before I went. Very unimpressed. No parking, very small, tables are right on top of your neighbor, and prices are higher than they should be for what you get. They try to excuse the prices my saying everything is organic. Ordered a special strawberry and cream French toast. I received two pieces of raisin bread with jam and cream cheese inside 10.50 no sides. Partner ordered the basic breakfast eggs came under cooked and cold(ordered over medium) 9.00 add 3.00 for 2 under cooked and cold bacon. NEVERGOINGBACK

5 stars for food: Food is well worth the wait. Their fried chicken and homemade sauce are delicious. The wife loves their coffee too. 5 stars for service: staff is pleasant and funny 3 stars for parking, wait on weekends and group seating: My only complaints are that it can be difficult to find parking, the wait can be long, and they may have to split large groups.

I heard about this place for years and finally got a chance to dine here. Unfortunately, my experience was not the best. My scrambled eggs w/cheese arrived cold and my homemade chicken apple sausage also arrived cold. When I informed my server, I was told that they would let the kitchen know. But he never said, «let me get you another order or may I remove that from your bill». Instead, I was actually billed for the cold meal with no restitution or service recovery. I am very disappointed.

I am adding Sam’s Log Cabin to my list of go-to breakfast places. This was my first visit & it didn’t disappoint. I ordered the daily pancake special which was blueberry lemon zest & a side of applewood smoked bacon… SODELICIOUS!!!

The fact that I had gone years without knowing about the heavenly breakfast and brunch served at Sam’s Log Cabin is beyond me… My best friend and I certainly take our brunch seriously, so when she began telling me about their exceptional dishes, emphasizing the word pancakes, I was sold. The restaurant itself is small but adorable, fitting true to it’s name, it is constructed as a log cabin. There are quite a few tables indoors but sitting in the restaurant’s backyard is superb! There is nothing better than an eating a perfectly satisfying breakfast in the sunshine. Also, dogs are welcome on leash, if you enter through the side alley of the restaurant. The service has always been excellent each time, the staff are warm, friendly, humorous, and try to remain as attentive to their customers as possible, even on their busiest days. Props! Food-wise, their pancakes are sinfully good, I had their blueberry banana pancakes, which happened to be almost as big as the plate, no complaints! I’ve also had their fried chicken and biscuits and gravy which are also excellent for a brunch dish. Flavorful, not too heavy, and cooked very nicely. My best friend is loyal to their corned beef hash which she seems to love at each visit. Also, their variety of homemade scones are an amazing way to start a meal or accompany a tea or espresso beverage. Sam’s certainly has a special place in my heart and I certainly can’t wait to come back for another joyous brunch! Thank you Sam’s Log Cabin!

I loved my first time at Sam’s Log Cabin! It was a very pleasant experience. The whole restaurant is so vintage and cute. The second my friend and I walked in, we were greeted so nicely by more than one waitress. We chose outdoor seating and it looked so lovely. It was quite cold that morning, but it was bearable because a waiter came and turned on the outside burner for us. My friend and I haven’t seen each other in a long time so we had a lot of catching up to do; so much that we accidentally did more so than figuring out what we wanted. Even so, the waiters gave us as long as we wanted to decide. Yes, plural for waiters. We had two waiters wait on us and I thought that was just so generous and very welcoming. I ordered«Workin’ hard» which I think is such a good deal because it has a good balance of carbs and protein, AND is double the amount of food but cheaper than just two cinnamon currant French toasts. Will definitely come again!

You have to come at the right time, otherwise you’ll end up waiting for EVERRRR. Luckily, there is self serve coffee in the back(not free) in cute, homey mugs to keep you busy. After finally getting seated, I ordered the daily special pancake(meyer lemon and blackberry). One pancake was plenty enough, it was pretty dense, but DELICIOUS. It came with an egg(which I ordered over easy). And I got a side of bacon. The waitresses are nice, food is good, decently priced — total for 2 people(~$ 30). worth coming back.

Great place and worth the weekend wait(but just as good on weekdays when it’s easy to get in). Pros: food and staff are excellent. Mouse(Mr. Postal Worker) is nuts and very funny — keep an eye out for him! Cons: occasionally over-excitable kids(waiting in the back yard amps them up), people dining with dogs(personal yuck imho). Mouse(Mr. Postal Worker) is nuts and possibly dangerous — keep an eye out for him!

YUM! Pancakes? Strawberry coconut and delicious. The housemade cornbeef and hash? Amazing. Egg scramble? Tasty. Did I mention local and organic with Thanksgiving coffee and a beautiful backyard? With reasonable prices? Can’t wait to go back.

Yummy! Semi long wait, but worth it. If you don’t bring a dog, you can eat inside a real log cabin, built a long time ago… can’t remember the year? If you bring a dog, you sit out in the patio area, while people stare at you as they wait for a seat. Haha. Cool that they supply you with coffee outside. There is a little station with mugs and a coffee dispenser for those of you who need a wake up boost. I loved my meal, corn pancakes. OMG so good!!! If my hubby and I, are ever in the area, so going to hit Sam’s up again.

I now understand why my Unilocal friend, Toni M, loves this place. Small, homey, friendly, efficient, good food. This is a wonderful local’s diner. Mr B and I actually met Toni and her husband, Alan, for the first time today, here. This was our choice of breakfast spots. But then, Toni and I proceeded to order lunch… some great big tuna salad sandwiches with lettuce and tomato slices on sourdough bread. If that wasn’t good enough, the sandwich came with a cup of the most fabulous(vegetarian) garbanzo soup. The garbanzos, with a texture not unlike coarse cornmeal, had tomatoes and onions and I don’t know what else. So, so delicious. That is unabashedly my kind of soup. The tuna concoction was quite tasty, not overly goopy from mayonnaise, yay, but I would lay down my life for another bowl of that soup. Mr. B, on the other hand relished his homemade corned beef hash(bite sized chunks of not overly corned meat and lovely potatoes) that came with a huge chunk of griddle toasted corn bread(delicious, btw) and two poached eggs. This was a very successfully executed breakfast plate with extremely generous portions. None of us emerged as champions of the Clean Plate Club… too much for one seating. Not to worry, Mr. B waved the surrender flag and their delightful staff took excellent care that we should dive into our leftovers later. And the coffee… always a tell tale of great(or not) things to come? This place has great coffee, and they kept it coming. That alone deserved a 5 star rating. I am delighted to add this to a growing list of best breakfast and lunch places ever, and tickled pink at the bargain prices. It is very conducive for good conversation and some doggie love out on the small patio as well. And a memo to self to try their beautiful scones when we come back. Now, If only they had decent parking.

I have a 75 lb pit bull. He’s a real«people» dog, but not so much a «dog» dog(but he’s reaction; not action). I brought him to Sam’s because they have outdoor seating, and we had to get out of the house for a bit. Right as I finished one egg of my bacon, eggs, bacon, and toast, a guy with a small dog walked by. My dog got a little excited, but then the guy’s dog got snippy(not his fault – dogs are dogs and they guys was super nice). Of course, my dog reacted. It caused s commotion, but everything was alright. The manager came up to me, the pit bull owner, and kicked me out(I sort of get it. My dog is large; something bad could have happened had he not been tied down.) What really grinds my gears though-I was charged for an entire meal I didn’t even eat. Rip-off.

Hailing from NYC, a line out the door is always a good sign, we weren’t disappointed. Following the posted directions, we headed to the back patio for a short wait and discovered all those« Unilocal“stars are there for a reason. Yes, all the food is made to order, creative without pretension and the menu while not huge does have something for everyone. The baked goods are divine. The ingredients fresh and in season. The wait staff plentiful, friendly, knowledgeable and alert. We’ve already been back twice and it’s only been 10 days– Did I mention it’s a 30 min drive? ~without traffic from Laurel.

Sam’s Cabin is adorable. Don’t be scared off by the long wait, the staff move people in and out fairly quickly and honestly, sitting outside in the nice garden area while waiting ain’t too shabby itself! The garden area is very cute and very clean. They offer you the option to grab coffee while waiting so you can pay for the coffee with your meal later. You can also go inside and order a delicious scone to eat while you wait, which is what my friends did. The scone we got was a raspberry and blueberry scone. Overall was very good, though certain bites were a lot sweeter than others(felt like there was more sugar dusted on the outside, nothing to do with the berries). I ordered the biscuits and gravy per my friend’s suggestion. The biscuits were soft on the inside but crispy on the outside, and the gravy was thick and flavorful, but nothing that made me feel heavy. It came with eggs of your choice(I chose scrambled) as well. The meal was good, though I definitely could’ve eaten more. I also felt like it was missing something. Maybe fried chicken? Apparently I could’ve ordered that on the side though! I really like how cute this place is. Definitely not something I could find in New York, so was very happy this was one of my meals when visiting the bay area. Hope to come back one day, I hear bands play in the garden area on certain nights!

This place always blows my mind and brings me back home. The fried chicken is incredible(especially the dipping sauce), and that’s coming from someone who is from the south and grew up on comfort food. The grits are some of the best I’ve had, eggs are cooked perfectly, and the staff is all really incredible and friendly. They’ve done a great job with the overall experience here. The best news? They are expanding the back patio to add even more room!

In this urbanized city you’ll feel right at home once you get to Sams Log Cabin. The wait isn’t long and once you’re seated you’re taken into an experience of hospitality, funny quirky waiters, quick service and delightful meals. The setting of this place is real comfortable with outside seating at the back and a huge back yard for kids to play making you feel like you’re at some friends house. My favorite part is the mugs they serve you there. It’s quite an interesting topic me and my paramour get when we get our coffee mugs with nostalgic designs on them and it leads to full on conversations of all sorts. The food is undeniably tasty and simple. My paramour did recall the fried chicken sandwich to be one of the best ones he’s ever had. Don’t forget to be open and try their morning specials. You won’t regret it! My new favorite breakfast spot. You won our hearts!

Something appealed to me about going to a place that looks like a Lincoln log cabin. Memories of those round boxes of Lincoln logs and green shingles flooded over me like, uh, logs and shingles I guess. So when I stopped here one Saturday morning, sure enough, it looks like a Lincoln log cabin made for adults(photo: ). Apparently others must share the same nostalgic memories because there was a crowd of people on the sidewalk waiting for a table. I noticed later that they have a big yard in the back where they have chairs set up for others to wait(photo: ). Man, this place is popular. Anyway, I lucked out as a solitary diner since they put me at the communal table in the patio. At least until the sun came blazing down on my eyes as I was squeezed between two Hell’s Angels on Red Bull and a senior reprimanding his granddaughter about her spending habits. I tried focusing on my iPhone to avoid engaging in their discussion. They have a big breakfast menu(photo: ), but I zeroed in on having one of their $ 1 House Made Blueberry Lemon Scones which turned out to be the highlight of the meal(photo: ). It was at the right stage between flaky and moist, and I could have easily had another if carbs were not an issue. They serve Thanksgiving coffee which I had not had since visiting Mendocino(photo: ). No Blue Bottle but it was piping hot, an almost ironic beverage for such a sunny morning. I think I could have used a lemonade. So I decided to have the $ 13.50 House Made Corned Beef Hash with Two Eggs Sunnyside Up(photo: ). While it was clearly made from real corned beef based on the chunks on the plate, I was pretty disappointed to see that it was burnt. Not enough to send back but just enough for me to feel a forlorn shrug on my palate. I was flashing back to the best corned beef hash I ever had at Stanley in New Orleans(photo: ) and wishing I could introduce Stanley to Sam. So eating in a life-size Lincoln log cabin(or more accurately, within spitting distance of one) was not what it was cracked up to be. FOOD — 3 stars… could have had a basket of the scones but would have skipped the hash AMBIANCE — 3 stars… there was a homey vibe if you could overlook the crowds SERVICE — 3 stars… just OK, not that frequently attentive TOTAL — 3 stars… maybe I should have gone for the pancakes
