Ok lemme start right here — I HATE GOING TO THE DOCTOR! My doc was out of town and I couldn’t get my medications renewed and was due to run out — So I had to take an appointment with a doctor I didn’t know. I ended up with Dr. Chan.
Boom right off the bat I could tell she was cool, super friendly, genuine and truly interested in me as a person, not just in me as some medical record number. I have been looking for a doctor for my teenage grandson and I think I have found the perfect match. I also can see her working well with adolescent and young adult women well too.
I appreciate no nonsense, nonjudgmental, shoot from the hip, smart and compassionate people and I feel like Dr. Chen possesses all those virtues and more. She is leaving the practice with Sutter soon to begin her own gig in the local area, I highly recommend you find her and make the hook up if you want a down to earth rock star type doc that gives a damn, cuz I think she will be inundated with new patients following her move.
I have never written a positive doctor review… so this speaks volumes.

if you are need somebody pumper you and have a chit-​chat– then Melissa Chan is for you. I wanted professional advice.

Dr. Chan is the best doctor I have ever encountered! She listens and really cares. She is approachable and not judgmental. She is the type of person who you feel at ease with right away and can divulge anything to. She is professional yet down to earth.
She was able to diagnose something that other doctors couldn’t– something plaguing me for years that even the specialists were stumped. She knows her stuff and is up to date on guidelines. (I think she has taught student doctors in the past, which I really like. She is like those really smart doctors like Dr. House you see on TV.) She is super smart but not annoyingly or condescendingly so. I feel so lucky to have found her.
**She is what medicine and every doctor should be!**
She can translate the doctor-​speak into terms the rest of us can understand. She has a way of explaining things where things just make sense. Maybe I should ask her existential life questions or deep philosophy questions next… haha.
I have a few co-​workers and friends who also see her and we all think she is excellent.
I can’t recommend her enough.

It’s strange, but Doctor reviews can be similar to Restaurant reviews: when there’s a really really good new one, I’m reluctant to go public with the praise in fear of losing the ‘easy seating’.
For new eatery’s the lines get long, and the prices go up. For Doctors, they simply become picky, and stop taking on new patients (or your ‘brand’ of cheap insurance).
All the above is the reason I reluctantly recommend Melissa, she rates so high among her medical peers that I have no doubt the lines for her will become long. She’s a genetic über-​achiever (read: genius + drive), and that translates to über-​attention when it comes dealing with her patients. (Did you notice she’ll meet-​up with you in the evening?!)
If you’re looking for the best, you need look no further, but Christine Simon (in the same group) is in the same catagory of combined expertise and genuine concern… but with a ‘long line.’
