My co-workers are a group of ladies who clip coupons at their desks, do their grocery shopping on their breaks and believe that it’s not real food unless it was made in a crock pot. Needless to say, we don’t have that much in common but, I’ve learned a lot about being a Midwestern lady from them. The first rule? Save money whenever possible but never, ever skimp on the quality. Enter Lake Country Vet, which was recommended to me by a co-worker. Vet care for pets in Minneapolis can be incredibly pricey(I still have the $ 2100 bill from Cedar Pet for a few fairly routine surgeries my dogs needed in the spring as proof) and, because of this, a lot of people are forced to skip out on the routine care that their pets need. Carl and Ruby needed their yearly shots and so I figured driving an hour away would totally be worth it to save some cash. My total for 2 office visits, 4 shots and medicine for a reoccuring skin infection? $ 100. I’m not lying. Office visits at my vet are $ 50 per dog alone, so I ended up saving a lot. Lake Country’s rabies shots are good for 2 years and the distemper for 3, whereas my vets in Minneapolis give shots that need to be given every year. I am charged almost $ 200 every time Carl has to go in for that infection I mentioned and it was included in my visit to Lake Country. The vet was incredibly friendly and helpful and the dogs both loved the place. It’s too far away for me to switch to this vet for everything, but it really is good to know that I have an affordable option for the necessary things that my pets need to stay healthy.
