I always feel dirty in this bar. it’s been years since I’ve been here and I’m here now… the lighting seems to be better but it still had gross alcohol covered carpets and it’s small.

I haven’t lived in Albany for several years, but I used to enjoy coming to this bar, and I thought I’d write a review.
PROS: Good serivce, fair prices, and dancing (even if good dancing in Albany is about as common as snow in the Sahara). If you’re trapped in Albany and in need of an entertaining place to drink, this is the spot for you.
CONS: As the only bar worth a damn in downtown Albany, it attracts an unsavory element. On different occasions I have been propositioned by people both inside and outside (while out smoking) wanting to sell me methamphetamine. JP’s could definitely benefit from hiring some security. Aside from that, the only other thing I didn’t like about the place was the music. I’m not sure if they were paying any of the DJs I’ve seen there with shots, but it certainly sounded like it.
I’d definitely try it again if I ever find myself back in Albany. Maybe it’s improved since I was there last.

For Albany, it’s about the best. They have two bars for when it gets really busy during the weekends. The drinks are pretty strong and they also have lottery and a decent dance floor. This place is usually the most packed on the weekends, but that changes constantly in this town. If you want to go out looking to meet new people or get lucky for the night, this place is probably your best bet.

Doesnt quite qualify for the nightlife category… but if you are into the bar scene with meth heads… head on downtown to this place.
wait…isnt that at every club???
anyhow, I would highly UNrecommend this place… just walking by it makes me want to cross the street.
